George Washington University professor Iselin Gambert argues that milk is a “symbol and tool” of “white supremacy and dominance.”
In a new research paper regarding consequences of milk-drinking on American society, Gambert’s argument favors the replacement of milk and adoption of “mylk,” a plant-based milk replacement that “has the potential to cure society’s issues with bigotry and exploitation of animals.” The paper also goes in depth on the “connection” between milk consumption and bigotry against women and minorities.
Gambert even goes as far as to draw a direct correlation between oppression of women and drinking milk. “A number of scholars have written about Western patriarchal society’s consumption of and relationship to milk as being “rooted in gender stereotypes, inequalities, and injustices,” she writes. “Speak to your cow as you would a lady.”
