She called for an investigation and expulsion of two people (possibly students) who jokingly wore a Harambe and Richard Nixon costume outside an anti-Trump event.

<a href="https://paulcollege.unh.edu/person/robert-woodward">Robert Woodward</a> is a Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of New Hampshire. Professor Woodward, according to an online schedule, usually teaches Health Economics on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, he spent that time driving students to the polls in a car decorated with Democratic campaign posters - paid for by the Ready for Hillary Super PAC.

<a href="https://ceps.unh.edu/person/chanda-prescod-weinstein" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Chanda Prescod-Weinstein</a> is an Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy and a Core Faculty Member of the <a href="https://cola.unh.edu/womens-gender-studies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Women’s and Gender Studies</a> Department at the <a href="https://cola.unh.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of New Hampshire</a>.

As a member of the organization, <a href="https://www.particlesforjustice.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Particles for Justice</a>, Dr. Prescod-Weinstein was a primary organizer for the “Strike for Black Lives” in June of 2020.

Particles for Justice is a far-left organization composed of scientists and mathematicians who are <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/physicists-condemn-sexism-through-particles-for-justice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dedicated to ending what they allege as “rampant racism and sexism in STEM fields</a>.” The group was first organized in 2018 to protest a lecture by physicist Alessandro Strumia, in which he affirmed that biological differences exist between men and women.

In the Summer of 2020, Dr. Prescod-Weinstein—who identifies as a <a href="https://magazine.scienceforthepeople.org/web-extras/particles-for-justice-racial-justice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“black queer femme physicist”</a> and an “<a href="https://www.cprescodweinstein.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">activist for equality in science</a>”—and other scientists organized the strike among academics in solidarity with the <a href="https://m4bl.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Movement for Black Lives</a> (MBL), also referred to as the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.

According to a <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study conducted by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED)</a>, BLM can be linked to 95% of the riots around the country–notably in Summer 2020 following the death of George Floyd. In an analysis of the study, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Federalist</a> found, “of the 633 incidents coded as riots, 88 percent are recorded as involving Black Lives Matter Activists.” The resulting riots were the largest in American history, <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion." target="_blank" rel="noopener">causing an estimated $2 billion in damages and 47 deaths.</a>

According to an official letter for the group—co-authored by Dr. Prescod-Weinstein—the organizers allege black students feel unsafe on <a href="https://www.particlesforjustice.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“predominantly white campuses” and professors face “anti-blackness” in academia</a>. The organizers called for <a href="https://www.particlesforjustice.org/strike-details" target="_blank" rel="noopener">academics to cease their normal university duties and spend the day protesting or conducting “antiracist“ actions on behalf of BLM</a>. As of June 10th, 2020, the website listed 5,874 administrators and professors as having walked off their jobs during the strike.

In her own personal statement authored for the strike, Dr. Prescod-Weinstein describes her efforts organizing the strike and the ongoing national protests as <a href="https://www.particlesforjustice.org/note" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an attempt to “save her life" and “the lives of all black people.</a>” She further decries having to conform culturally and professionally to “whiteness,” and urges white people to take up anti-racist work in order to make black people feel more comfortable.

Dr. Prescod-Weinstein’s activism and views are further displayed on her <a href="https://twitter.com/IBJIYONGI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">personal Twitter account</a>. She consistently tweets condemnations of America and conservatives as racist, support for critical race theory, and accusations that Israel is committing genocide against Arabs:

In a separate paper for The University of Chicago—​​titled, “Making Black Women Scientists under White Empiricism: The Racialization of Epistemology in Physics”— Dr. Prescod-Weinstein <a href="https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/full/10.1086/704991#_i5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decries the concept of objectivity under “European ideas of science”</a> dominating her field through “colonial force.” She defines “white empiricism” as serving “white supremacist traditions in science” at the expense of black scientists.

<a href="https://cola.unh.edu/person/david-finkelhor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. David Finkelhor</a> is a Professor of sociology at the University of New Hampshire. <a href="https://www.unh.edu/ccrc/person/david-finkelhor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to his university profile</a>, he is the Director of the Crimes against Children Research Center and co-Director of the Family Research Laboratory. Dr. Finkelhor is known for his research into child sexual abuse and related topics.

Dr. Finkelhor lectures on a wide variety of subjects such as “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpangX4UaO4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sexual Abuse Prevention</a>,” “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsoYh5WF2Yc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Developmental Victimology</a>,” and more. He also participates in a variety of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-fViw7Uuxs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">child sexual abuse conferences</a>.

On March 23, 2022 Dr. Finkelhor participated in a webinar discussing the “<a href="https://twitter.com/libsoftiktok/status/1515916310814859264" target="_blank" rel="noopener">elements of voluntary participation</a>” by juveniles involved in sex crimes; saying that when trying to prevent sex crimes against children, it is key to realize that in some cases, it is the children themselves that are “initiating sexual activities with adults.” Dr. Finkelhor also suggested that he believes it is not “effective” to assume that a pedophilic relationship escalates because of a “predatory or criminally inclined adult.”

On June 25, 2020 in a webinar called “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpangX4UaO4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Let's Talk About Prevention</a>,” Finkelhor stated that “Another thing about diversity that is very important to recognize is that in spite of the stereotype, most of the adult offenders are not “pedophiles”... Many are opportunistic and situational and acting on relationships that develop, or opportunities that are made available to them.”  Dr. Finkelhor refers to “offenders” as ambivalent and stresses the importance of differentiating the labels between a pedophile and an offender.

Recently, there have been articles questioning Dr. Finkelhor's motives on the subject. <a href="https://thepostmillennial.com/professor-says-minors-can-be-enthusiastically-involved-in-initiating-sexual-activities-with-adults" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Post Millennial</a> reports his statements, “There's not good enough research on issues related to maturity with regard to sexual behavior that allows a clear demarcation here.”  He noted that there can be elements of voluntary participation in statutory sex crimes wherein juveniles engage in sex with adults who are at least five years older than they are. Statutory rape, he said, is “much narrower than statutory sex crimes in general.”

Dr. Finkelhor’s rating on Rate My Professor is a <a href="https://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=142310" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2.1 out of 5</a> with a number of reviews mentioning his teaching methods as “lecture heavy” and so on.

In April 2021, Professor Gruber, along with her TTU colleague <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/andrewsmith">Professor Andrew Smith</a>, <a href="https://www.tpusa.com/live/tpusa-advisor-attacked-by-leftwing-activist-colleagues-on-tennessee-tech-campus">attacked TPUSA students at TTU</a> and the chapter’s TTU faculty advisor, Tennessee Tech<a href="https://blogs.tntech.edu/techtimes/2019/people/faculty-fresh-face-andrew-aj-donadio/"> Professor Andrew Donadio</a>. Specifically, Professor Gruber hung flyers around the TTU campus accusing  the TPUSA chapter of harassing and terrorizing “persons of color, feminists, liberals, and teachers.” Professor Gruber also claims that TPUSA students and their advisor are “on our list” and are not welcome at the university.

To justify her assault against the TPUSA students and Professor Donadio, Gruber claims that “it’s not bad to call someone a racist.” In the same interview, Gruber claims that anyone who grew up in America “grew up being racist.”

Dr. Julia Gruber and Andrew Smith have <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/530376660/Gruber-and-Smith-v-Tennessee-Tech-University">filed a lawsuit against Tennessee Tech University</a>. In the suit–filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee–both allege that TTU has infringed upon their freedom of speech and seek to remove any disciplinary action the university has placed against them.

MingQing Xiao is an <a href="https://math.siu.edu/faculty-staff/faculty/xiao.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">applied math professor at Southern Illinois University.</a> He specializes in partial differential equations, control theory, dynamical systems, and computational science.
On April 21, 2021, the Department of Justice <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/mathematics-professor-and-university-researcher-indicted-grant-fraud" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced that a federal grand jury had returned an indictment</a> charging the professor with two counts of wire fraud and one count of making a false statement. According to the press release:
“Xiao allegedly applied for and received National Science Foundation (NSF) grant funds for a project set to run from 2019 to 2022 without informing NSF about another, overlapping grant he had already received from the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, China.” 
Additionally:
“Xiao also allegedly failed to inform NSF that he was on the payroll of Shenzhen University, a public university in Guangdong Province, and that he had already committed to teaching and conducting research at Shenzhen University from 2018 to 2023.” 
The release also states that NSF questioned Xiao about any current or pending funding from “worldwide sources” and the indictment accuses him of falsely reporting to NSF that he had nothing else to disclose.
In October 2021, <a href="https://thesouthern.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/feds-pin-additional-charges-on-siu-math-professor-accused-of-scheming-for-grant-dollars/article_ce9c58d4-94a9-5f11-9d87-1db1b8c44782.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">additional charges were levied against Professor Xiao</a>, including tax fraud and failure to disclose a foreign bank account.
On May 5, 2022, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/illinois-professor-convicted-failing-report-chinese-bank-account-2022-05-05/">Reuters</a> reported that Xiao was convicted of failing to disclose a Chinese bank account on his 2017 to 2019 tax returns but was cleared of concealing his ties to China while seeking federal grant funding. The jury acquitted Xiao of making a false statement in connection with a NSF grant proposal and U.S. Judge Staci Yandle “found prosecutors failed to prove two related wire fraud charges.”

<a href="http://ethics.harvard.edu/people/danielle-allen">Dr. Danielle Allen</a> is a Professor of Ethics at Harvard. She said that the rise of Donald Trump is just like the rise of Hitler.

<a href="http://hls.harvard.edu/faculty/directory/10906/Tushnet">Mark Tushnet</a>, a Law Professor at Harvard University, asked liberals to begin treating Christians and conservatives like Nazis. In a blog post, he claimed that Christians and conservatives have lost, and the primary question now is “How to deal with the losers.”

<a href="https://ghsm.hms.harvard.edu/faculty-staff/michelle-evelyn-morse">Michelle Evelyn Morse</a>, M.D. is a Instructor of Medicine and an Affiliate in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard University.  She is also co-founder of the <a href="http://www.socialmedicineconsortium.org/campaign-against-racism/">Campaign Against Racism</a>, which describes itself as an organization that seeks to “dismantle structural racism and its effects on health around the world.”

In an interview with <a href="https://www.pri.org/stories/2020-06-02/health-care-part-systems-oppression-says-harvard-medicine-professor">The World</a>, Morse outlined what she believes is structural oppression in the healthcare field. She explained how the Coronavirus is exposing divides caused by racism:

“And I think what we're seeing with the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on communities of color is that these are the fault lines that have existed for generations. And the sources are the very social arrangement that puts white people on top and black and brown people on the bottom.” 

 Morse has admitted that the long-term goal of her organization is to destroy capitalism, saying, “...the systems of racial capitalism and structural racism that we're trying to impact and upend and break down are going to take much, much longer” 

Morse is also very candid about utilizing the coronavirus pandemic to accomplish her organization’s ambitions of fundamentally transforming the country: 

“We have to seize on this moment. We have to make sure that health workers are not just assumed to be the heroes of COVID-19, that we actually do the work of upending the sources of oppression that have led to these inequities and that we recognize that that takes time and that that takes constant pressure.”

<a href="https://hds.harvard.edu/people/cornel-r-west">Dr. Cornel West</a> is a former Professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy at Harvard University and a Professor Emeritus at Princeton University. West is also a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and has used the organization’s platform to <a href="https://www.dsausa.org/democratic-left/cornel_west_endorses_bernie_sanders/">endorse</a> Bernie Sanders for president.  

West is known for his vocal opposition to Donald Trump, <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=14389">describing</a> him at a rally for Bernie Sanders as a “neo-fascist gangster.”

West is also notable for his mistrust of the official narrative of 9/11. As <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=5054">reported</a> by Campus Reform, he relayed his suspicion when asked if 9/11 was an inside job during the Million Muslim March in Washington D.C. “At this point, I’m still uncertain. I think there might be a possibility but my hunch is that with Bin Laden’s definitive investment, he must have had something to do with it,” explained West.

Among West’s other peculiar beliefs, he is an avowed socialist that has served as an honorary chair for the DSA. In an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zYAH-BZZTs">interview</a> with Laura Flanders, he praised Karl Marx for having an “indispensable” analysis of America, declaring that American capitalism forces people to live in “wage slavery.” When <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuc6C2_Txmw">challenged</a> by Tucker Carlson for his support of Socialism, most notably for its repeated and abysmal failures, West deflected and accused the US of interfering in preventing the implementation of authentic socialism in places like Venezuela.

Perhaps the most disturbing example of Dr. West’s radical beliefs is his sustained relationship and defense of notorious Nation of Islam (NOI) leader, Louis Farrakhan. 

Farrakhan is noted for his virulent and antisemitic remarks praise of Adolf Hitler made during NOI sermons:

Despite a bevy of disgusting remarks, Dr. West continues to collaborate with and defend Farrakhan. He most recently <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfC-z80GCSk">appeared</a> with him at an event in Chicago, hosted by PBS, to discuss issues in the black community. Numerous other academics and community leaders were present. His association with Farrakhan goes back decades, as is exhibited in a lecture given at Harvard University where he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KwhXPXjjMw">flouted</a> his agreement with him that white supremacy is ingrained in America. In another lecture,  Dr. West openly <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qmuSqlvWE4">admitted</a> that he works with Farrakhan. 

When <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZwhYShH-pE">pressed</a> by Roland Marted about his relationship with Farrakhan, West refused to disavow him. West responded that “people need to stop lying about my brother,” and denied that Farrakhan had ever made anti-Semitic remarks. West went on to praise Farrakhan for his “consistency” on white supremacy.   

Dr. West has also openly embraced ANTIFA. <a href="https://www.democracynow.org/2020/6/1/cornel_west_us_moment_of_reckoning">Appearing</a> on Democracy Now!, Dr. West claimed that ANTIFA “saved his life” when protesting in Charlottesville and lambasted the Trump administration's decision to label ANTIFA a terrorist organization:

“...ANTIFA saved my life in Charlottesville. There’s no doubt about it, that they provided the security, you see. So the very notion that they become candidates for a terrorist organization, but the people who were trying to kill us — the Nazis, the Klan — they’re not candidates for terrorist organization status — but that’s what you’re going to get. You’re going to get a Trump-led neofascist backlash and clampdown on what is going on. We ought to be very clear about that. The neofascism has that kind of obsession with militaristic imposition in the face of any kind of disorder. And so we’ve got to be fortified for that.”

Cornel West is a vocal critic of Israel. In 2014 - though aware that terrorist group Hamas was launching thousands of rockets into Israeli civilian areas - he nonetheless <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvFVnRfpj7w&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;t=281">accused</a> Israel of state-sponsored terrorism and urged “resistance” on behalf of the Palestinians.

<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/faculty/directory/10048/Bartholet">Elizabeth Bartholet</a> is the Morris Wasserstein Public Interest Professor of Law and Faculty Director of the Child Advocacy Program at Harvard University. Bartholet’s work is primarily centered around child welfare. She <a href="https://bartholet.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/children.pdf">believes</a> that “poverty and social justice are the root causes of most child maltreatment” and that early childhood intervention by social services is needed to prevent abuse. 

Bartholet is a vocal and visceral opponent of home-schooling, describing it as “near-absolute parental power” and “inconsistent” with the human rights of children. In a <a href="https://arizonalawreview.org/pdf/62-1/62arizlrev1.pdf">paper written for the Arizona Law Review</a>, she advocates for an outright ban on homeschooling. Bartholet sees homeschooling as a danger to society, and accuses parents who decide to remove their children from public schools of promoting segregation and misogyny:  

“...parents can now keep their children at home in the name of homeschooling free from any real scrutiny as to whether or how they are educating their children. Many homeschool because they want to isolate their children from ideas and values central to our democracy, determined to keep their children from exposure to views that might enable autonomous choice about their future lives. Many promote racial segregation and female subservience. Many question science. Abusive parents can keep their children at home free from the risk that teachers will report them to child protection services. Some homeschool precisely for this reason.”

Bartholet repeats and expands on her position, claiming that homeschooling may lead to child abuse: 

“Parents can choose to teach that biblical truth trumps all, that all science is false science, that women should be educated to be subservient to men, that people of color are inferior to whites, that people with nontraditional sexual orientations or gender identities should be “cured” or condemned. Parents can choose to put their children to work, notwithstanding child labor laws. Parents can choose to beat their children, starve them, or chain them up…”

Bartholet then critiques the inability to enact any legislation due to the “outdated nature of the Constitution, 

“The U.S. Constitution with its negative rights structure is an anomaly, outdated and inadequate by the standards of the rest of the world Negative rights— rights to be free from state intervention—are particularly inadequate for children...The U.S. Constitution’s focus on negative rights represents an older western constitutional tradition, “increasingly out of step with emerging constitutional norms…”

Bartholet’s hostility towards homeschooling appears to stem from the fact that a disproportionate amount of these parents are conservative Christians and not progressives: 

“It is the religious ideologues who dominate the homeschooling movement...Nor is there any other significant advocacy organization designed to represent the views of the highly educated nonreligious homeschoolers, the descendants of the John Holt progressive wing of the homeschooling movement.”

Bartholet had been slated to <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=14850">appear</a> at a Harvard-sponsored summit that was described as an “anti-homeschooling conference.” Titled “<a href="https://cap.law.harvard.edu/homeschooling-summit-june-18-19-2020/">Homeschooling Summit: Problems, Politics, and Prospects for Reform</a>,” it has since been postponed after receiving fierce backlash.

Dr. David R. Williams is a <a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/davidrwilliams/home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tenured professor at Harvard University</a>. He specializes in several subjects, including Public Health, Sociology, and African American Studies. Dr. Williams has also delivered many lectures and written a substantial number of publications that discuss discrimination and racism in the United States, particularly in healthcare, and the negative health impact conservatives have on Democrats and minorities.

In 2016, Dr. Williams appeared in a TED Talk titled, “<a href="https://www.ted.com/talks/david_r_williams_how_racism_makes_us_sick/transcript?language=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">How Racism Makes Us Sick</a>”. In this 16 minute video, he discusses how stereotypes in the subconscious minds of healthcare professionals lead to lesser quality care for minorities. He attributes this to implicit biases and explains how it’s an unconscious process that occurs “even among the most well-intended individuals.” According to Williams, when a person of color is being treated by a non-minority medical professional, that provider holds unconscious and inherent biases that cause them to unknowingly provide lesser quality healthcare.

A topic Dr. Williams discusses often, particularly on Twitter, is white privilege and supremacy in politics. In an <a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/davidrwilliams/files/williams_medlock_nejm_elections_and_health_2017.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article published by the New England Journal of Medicine</a> in 2017, Dr. Williams alleges that President Donald Trump’s candidacy reignited pre-existing hostile attitudes towards racial and ethnic minorities and migrants. He goes on to describe how Democrats in particular experienced negative health effects after the 2016 election, as they feel they are direct targets of hostility and discrimination, particularly white American conservatives.

He further accuses the conservative-run Tea Party, which materialized after the election of Barack Obama, of increasing racial animosity in the United States. Dr. Williams claims a large uptick in racism on social media occurred after Obama’s election, as well as a resurgence of historically racist stereotypes. He attributes all of this to the Tea Party.

<a href="https://www.britannica.com/topic/Tea-Party-movement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Tea Party</a> is an organization that was created in response to the 2008 financial and housing crisis in the United States. Outraged by the Obama administration’s policies - such as the mortgage bailouts in 2009 - the Tea Party was born. <a href="https://www.teaparty.org/about-us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to their website</a>, the Tea Party claims to have millions of members nationwide, consisting of Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and Independents alike.

Dr. Williams is also credited with developing the “<a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/davidrwilliams/node/32397" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Everyday Discrimination Scale</a>” that is widely used as a measure of subjective experiences of discrimination in order to measure feelings of racism. This scale is used in schools to measure students’ perceived level of discrimination in their everyday lives. On the flip side, if students score very low on the scale, teachers and professors want to know why students think they aren’t being discriminated against. This typically boils down to the color of their skin.

The scale is used in several major universities, particularly in healthcare studies. Claudine Gay is the Edgerly Family Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University — which is the largest division of the university. She’s also a Wilbur A. Cowett Professor of Government and African and African-American Studies.

<a href="https://www.fas.harvard.edu/pages/dean-claudine-gay" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor Gay’s university profile</a> states, “[S]ince 2006, Gay has studied political behavior, considering issues in her research such as: how the election of minority officeholders affects citizens’ perceptions of their government…how neighborhood environments shape racial and political attitudes among black Americans…and the consequences of housing mobility programs for political participation among the poor.”

<a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/cgay/home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gay’s personal statement</a> says, “I bring many of these interests to my undergraduate and graduate advising and teaching, including my courses on Post-Civil Rights Black Politics; Democratic Citizenship; and Politics of Race, Ethnicity and Immigration.” 

In a publication titled <a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/cgay/files/political_behavior_vol_36_p99-124.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Knowledge Matters: Policy Cross-pressures and Black Partisanship</a>, Gay states, in part, “Political observers have long recognized the socially conservative tendencies of the Black mass public. In stark contrast to their views on racial and social welfare, African Americans are firmly anchored to the political right of whites (and other minorities) on a range of moral and cultural issues, including abortion, gay rights, and women’s role in society.”

Professor Gay is also affiliated with <a href="https://inequalityinamerica.fas.harvard.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard’s Inequality in America program</a> – “a multidisciplinary effort to elevate and energize teaching and research on social and economic inequality and to use what we learn to inform the public debate and public response to these challenges.” 

<a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2022/4/8/gay-thrilled-taeku-hire/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Harvard Crimson</a> featured Gay’s enthusiasm for expanding the school’s ethnic studies program as she welcomed a new faculty recruit. The article says, “Following more than four decades of lobbying by Harvard students and alumni for an ethnic studies concentration, Gay launched a search for faculty specializing in Asian American, Latinx, and Muslim studies in June 2019.”

Dr. Robin Ely is the Diane Doerge Wilson <a href="https://www.hbs.edu/faculty/Pages/profile.aspx?facId=7287" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of Business Administration and faculty chair</a> of the Harvard Business School’s (HBS) Race, Gender, and Equity Initiative. Ely’s research focuses on race and gender relations with a focus on leadership, identity, and organizational culture change.

A <a href="https://www.hbs.edu/news/releases/Pages/race-gender-equity-initiative.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Newsroom press release</a> described the initiative as “both a renaming of the Gender Initiative and a reflection of work done to understand…racial equality in organizations and business…”

Dr. Ely said, “Our faculty pursue research in a wide range of fields related to equity, creating knowledge that helps leaders drive change in their organizations and the world,” according to Harvard Newsroom.

In 2018, she co-authored an article titled <a href="https://hbr.org/2018/03/beating-the-odds" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Beating the Odds: Leadership Lessons from Senior African-American Women</a> in which she claimed, “Too often we see business leaders struggle to advance members of underrepresented groups because they model their development strategies on their own paths to success.”

The article concludes by stating, “When African-American women are underrepresented in an organization’s senior leadership roles despite robust academic credentials and work experience, their struggles often suggest a broader problem: a workplace that fails to offer every employee equal access to opportunities for growth.”

In a 2018 symposium, Race, Work &amp; Leadership: Learning About &amp; From Black Experience, Ely said, “[I] take an intersectional approach with the Gender Initiative…I think this is where the energy in the world is right now…gender really shape[s] the lives and livelihoods of people and also our workplaces.”

<a href="https://hrp.law.harvard.edu/faculty/susan-farbstein/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Susan Farbstein is a Clinical Professor at Harvard Law School</a> (HLS) and the Director of the International Human Rights Clinic. Her work and research focus on human rights in South Africa and socio-economic rights and racial justice in the United States. She has also served as a human rights attorney for South African Apartheid Litigation and other “transitional justice” cases.

In 2017, Farbstein gave <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlU7yaWoCjs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an informal talk to male and female HLS students</a>. She opened the meeting by stating she was “happy to celebrate and acknowledge all [they] had achieved as women while being mindful of the many ongoing struggles [for equality] across all spheres – political, economic, social, and cultural in the U.S. and around the world.”

She also said, “We know and feel the many ways that women are under attack,” while acknowledging the women sitting in the room were “comparatively privileged.”

<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/today/harvard-law-celebrates-women-inspiring-change/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Law Today reported</a> that Farbstein received recognition during an International Women’s Day celebration in 2018. She received recognition alongside “the creator of the ‘Me Too’’ movement, the first openly transgender woman of color elected to public office in the United States,” and women’s advocates from the Middle East.

Martin Nowak is a <a href="https://oeb.harvard.edu/people/martin-nowak" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of Mathematics and Biology at Harvard University.</a> His university profile says he “works on the mathematical description of evolutionary processes” including research on HIV, HBV, and cancer treatment.

In 2021, Nowak was censured by <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/claudinegay" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Claudine Gay</a>, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences after it was revealed that he had connections to Jeffrey Epstein, a sex trafficker who allegedly committed suicide while awaiting trial in 2019.

<a href="https://www.harvardmagazine.com/2021/03/martin-nowak-sanctioned-for-jeffrey-epstein-involvement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Magazine said</a>, “In an email sent to faculty members, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in the department of mathematics and organismic and evolutionary biology…Gay announced disciplinary actions against Nowak…stemming from his connections to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.”

Harvard Magazine continued, “[B]etween 1998 and 2008, Epstein made gifts of $6.5 million to the Program of Evolutionary Dynamics, which was run by Nowak.” Despite Gay initially announcing Nowak would no longer hold his positions at Harvard, it was later confirmed that he would “remain on the faculty of the mathematics department, but Gay listed two-year limits that would be placed on his advising and research activities.”

<a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/harvard-punishes-professor-who-had-ties-jeffrey-epstein-n1262187" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News reported</a> that Nowak “gave Epstein ‘unrestricted’ access to campus…[and] an office in Nowak’s campus research center, along with a building key card, and allowed Epstein to visit even after [his] 2008 sex crimes conviction.”

Yanilda Gonzalez is the <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/yanilda-gonzalez" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School</a>. She teaches Politics and Ethics in Unstable Times, as well as Policing, Citizenship, and Inequality in Comparative Perspective. Both courses offer guidance for analyzing systemic inequalities and injustice in American society.

According to her university profile, Professor Gonzalez focuses her research on “policing, state violence, and citizenship in democracy, examining how race, class, and other forms of inequality shape these processes.” She has also published several scholarly articles and one book titled “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Authoritarian_Police_in_Democracy/afwAEAAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=authoritarian+police+in+democracy&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Authoritarian Police in Democracy: Contested Security in Latin America</a>.”

The book explores why “police forces are at the center of social unrest and debates about democracy and rule of law [and] the persistence of authoritarian policing in Latin America to explain why police violence and malfeasance remain pervasive decades after democratization.”

In a <a href="https://youtu.be/CkGBLBCHaXM" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Kennedy School video discussion</a> of her book, Gonzalez said her inspiration for the publication started when she was a “young and impressionable college student who was starting to learn about democracy as a political science major.” After witnessing alleged human rights abuses during 9/11, working for the <a href="https://www.nyclu.org/en/publications/forces-against-progress-are-gathering-new-york-must-lead-way-forward">New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU)</a>, and studying post-dictatorship policing in South America, Gonzalez came to wonder “how can democratic systems perpetuate authoritarian practices.”

The NYCLU’s is a non-profit organization that focuses on racial justice, voting reform, transgender rights, and the rights of incarcerated people. The group’s legislative goals include lowering incarceration rates among Blacks by decriminalizing minor drug possession and eliminating “taxes on poverty” — these are court fees and fines collected by local governments as a “major source of funding.”

Aminta Ossom is a <a href="https://hrp.law.harvard.edu/faculty/aminta-ossom/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Clinical Instructor and Lecturer on Law</a> at Harvard University. Her research interests and teaching consist of equality, inclusion, economic and social justice, as well as human rights diplomacy and the role of identity in advocacy.

Ossom was featured in a 2020 Harvard Law Today article titled “<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/today/event-series-explores-racial-justice-and-human-rights/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Event Series Explores Racial Justice and Human Rights</a>.” She hosted a series of talks “between students, scholars, and practitioners on the role that race plays both in the practice and substance of international human rights work.” When asked what inspired her to convene the event series, Ossom said,

“The series is inspired most directly by the ongoing discussions about systemic racism that have accompanied protests for racial justice around the world…Observations about human rights practice can spark ideas that lead to great legal scholarship.”

In the wake of the high-profile deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd, Ossom co-authored <a href="https://deliverypdf.ssrn.com/delivery.php?ID=229087098105069064000019124018110099098073020038068011091083024111002018074073066027060118002034019104038016068000078089071026020039005023014121118068002073064111119010065042002003091113006102093092118006112003102116125029086103080105100088068072110090&amp;EXT=pdf&amp;INDEX=TRUE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Toward an Antiracist Clinical Community, Pedagogy, &amp; Practice</a>. The research paper “is intended to serve that goal [of antiracist work], turning the focus inward to interrogate how the status quo of a clinic’s structure, practices, and teaching methods might contribute to racial inequities in the learning environment and legal field.”

During a <a href="https://youtu.be/zRG0pQ_pzio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">virtual discussion</a>, “Human Rights, Civil Rights, and the Struggle for Racial Justice,” Ossom joined a panel of social justice activists to discuss the legacy of slavery, race violence, and police brutality. Ossom primarily served as the moderator but joined the conversation to share thoughts on the “defund the police” movement:

“I’m also hearing, too, that issues of trust aren’t just issues of trust for the police. They’re also issues of trust for systems of education, nutritional security, water and sanitation, [and] in other systems...But I should also point out that there’s also distrust among other institutions because of the fact that they failed to provide for Black American communities.

John Comaroff is the Hugh K. Foster <a href="https://anthropology.fas.harvard.edu/people/john-comaroff" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of African and African-American Studies and Anthropology</a> at Harvard University. His teaching and research interests include crime, policing, and democracy in postcolonial politics. 

In June 2022, Comaroff was <a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2022/6/29/comaroff-amended-complaint/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">featured in The Harvard Crimson</a> as an alleged perpetrator of sexual assault crimes on campus. The Crimson said, “Comaroff is facing new allegations of sexual harassment in an <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.mad.242149/gov.uscourts.mad.242149.35.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">amended lawsuit</a> that includes accounts of unwanted touching, kissing, and sexual remarks during his three decades as a faculty member at the University of Chicago, where he allegedly engaged in multiple sexual relationships with students.”

When accusations resulted in a lawsuit against the college, Comaroff was placed on unpaid administrative leave in January. Comaroff’s colleagues immediately rallied in support with nearly 40 faculty and staff adding signatures to <a href="https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.thecrimson.com/pdf/2022/02/04/1353924.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an open letter</a>. The letter states:

“Harvard’s Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) found that Comaroff had ‘engaged in verbal conduct that violated the FAS Sexual and Gender-Based Harassment Policy and the FAS Profesional Conduct Policy. Although Comaroff had been accused by three students, only one allegation was found by Harvard's ODR to have any merit.”

“We the undersigned know John Comaroff to be an excellent colleague, advisor and committed university citizen who has for five decades trained and advised hundreds of Ph.D. students of diverse backgrounds…We are dismayed by Harvard’s sanctions against him and concerned about its effects on our ability to advise our own students.”

By February 10 — when details of the lawsuit became public — the <a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2022/2/10/comaroff-faculty-letter-retraction/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crimson reported</a>, “Almost all of the Harvard professors who signed an open letter that questioned the results of misconduct investigations into professor Comaroff have retracted their support.” In turn, “some of Harvard’s most prominent scholars signed a letter of retraction” and one sent an email to recant their support.

According to the <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2022/02/10/harvard-sexual-misconduct-comaroff/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washinton Post</a>, “The reversal came after three Harvard graduate students filed a lawsuit accusing the university of ignoring sexual harassment allegations against Comaroff…Attorneys for Comaroff said he categorically denies ever harassing or retaliating against any student…The lawsuit characterized Harvard’s response to complaints as ‘deliberate indifference…’”

As of September, Comaroff was <a href="https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2022/09/09/accused-harasser-john-comaroff-returns-harvard" target="_blank" rel="noopener">removed from administrative leave</a> and allowed back in the classroom. The lawsuit against Harvard and Comaroff is ongoing.

Sandra Susan Smith is the <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/sandra-susan-smith" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Professor of Criminal Justice</a> and Faculty Director for the Program in Criminal Justice Policy and Management at Harvard Kennedy School. Part of her research interests is focused on racial inequality in pretrial detention and diversion. Smith believes criminal offenders — particularly those in black communities — who are monitored electronically incur unfavorable psychological, social, and economic injuries.

<a href="https://www.cdcr.ca.gov/parole/electronic-monitoring/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Electronic monitoring (EM)</a> is an incarceration alternative that allows pretrial offenders to avoid bail payments or extra time behind bars while awaiting court hearings.

Harvard Kennedy School published an article featuring Smith titled <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty-research/policy-topics/fairness-justice/san-francisco-has-fewer-pretrial-detainees-jail" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“San Francisco has few pretrial detainees in jail. But at what cost?”</a> Smith’s research into pretrial detainees revealed that “more than 40% were black, despite black people making up only about 5% of San Francisco’s population.” In the article, Smith argues:

“Reforms like pretrial EM, while presumably meant as a move toward lower incarceration, end up trapping participants in cycles of interaction with the criminal legal system even before they’ve been convicted of a crime. EM, like incarceration itself, reproduces inequalities by race and class and prevents participants from becoming full members of society.”

Essentially, Smith advocates that the mental health of offenders who are monitored is a greater risk than the probability of them committing further crimes while awaiting trial. She “hopes that as reforms continue to happen in the criminal justice system…and that San Francisco will substantially scale back its use of pretrial EM,” according to Harvard Kennedy School.

Smith teaches Section A: Exploring Institutions and Modes of Racial Domination of a course called “<a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/courses/race-and-racism-public-policies-practices-and-perspectives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Race and Racism in Public Policies, Practices, and Perspectives</a>.” The section description says, 

“This module…[examines] power and oppression in the contemporary American context. We will explore key theoretical and empirical insights from the social sciences to highlight the role of institutions of racial domination have played in producing durable racial hierarchies…”

Cornell Williams Brooks — a former head of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) — is the Hauser Professor of the Practice of Nonprofit Organizations and Professor of the Practice of Public Leadership and Social Justice. 

His <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/cornell-william-brooks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Kennedy School profile</a> states he was a visiting professor of social ethics, law, and justice movement at Boston University’s School of Law and School of Theology. On the Gloria Purvis Podcast, Brooks discussed how “black” churches in America should respond to social justice issues. He said the church was “tremendously consequential” in his life and his decision to become a minister.

<a href="https://sacobserver.com/2022/10/the-reparations-debate-continues-as-advocates-push-for-broader-societal-acceptance/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor Brooks supports reparations for the descendants of African slaves.</a> In October 2022, Brooks’s thoughts were included in The Observer article titled “The Reparations Debate Continues as Advocates Push for Broader Societal Acceptance.” The article states, “Although African-Americans were purportedly freed by President Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Emancipation Proclamation, they have never been totally free from being under the boot of white domination and supremacy.”

Brooks told The Observer,

“‘There are a great many studies about harm and repair [that are] [sic]regular and routine…Data suggests that reparations is [sic] commonplace. For example, veteran’s injuries, losing property, bad vaccines and when farmers lose their crops. Reparations is not aberrational but is a customary means of redress.”

In May 2020, Brooks was featured in an NPR publication titled “<a href="https://www.delawarepublic.org/national-headlines/2020-05-31/former-naacp-head-cornell-brooks-blames-derek-chauvin-for-violence-at-protests" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Former NAACP Head Cornell Brooks Blames Derek Chauvin for Violence at Protests.</a>” At the height of the controversy — when netizens and politicians were blaming Antifa and far-left radical extremist groups, Brooks said he thought “the police officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck should be blamed for violent protests, too.”

NPR quoted Brooks saying,

“In these marches and demonstrations, there are anarchists and white supremacists and others who show up…[b]ut to be clear: There would be no protests, there would be no demonstrations, had Derek Chauvin not killed George Floyd.” 

“[Chauvin] should also be charged with looting, with arson, and with sowing the seeds of chaos and dissension in our public. He is an accomplice, he is a co-conspirator [and] a co-participant in the destruction were are experiencing as a country.”

Marks serves as a <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/zoe-marks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lecturer in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.</a> Her professor profile says her “research and teaching interests focus on the intersection of conflict and political violence.” Her work also explores race, gender, and equality.

She teaches International and Intersectional Approaches to Race and Racism — this is “section C” of a class titled “Race and Racism in Public Policies, Practices, and Perspectives.” The <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/courses/race-and-racism-public-policies-practices-and-perspectives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">course description</a> says, 

“Students will confront legacies and explore key frameworks, from caste to global antiblackness, for understanding and redressing how racism shapes our lives and our world. Each student will build a personal toolkit of intersectional policy analysis skills and concepts…we will work toward concrete policy and advocacy solutions to system racism.”

Zoe Marks is an outspoken supporter of pro-abortion policies, social justice, and women’s rights. In an opinion titled “Breaking the Silence,” she told <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty-research/policy-topics/fairness-justice/roe-v-wade-has-been-overturned-what-does-mean#zoe-marks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Kennedy School News</a>,

“The Supreme Court’s decision to let state legislatures control people’s access to abortion care is the latest chapter in a decades-long conversation that most Americans have been reluctant to have…As a historical reference point, it’s useful to remember there is no record of women being discussed at the Constitutional Convention…”

She continued,

“For millions of enslaved women, who were held as property and legally denied bodily autonomy and personhood, sharing knowledge of birth control and abortifacients was a way to claim their sovereignty and resist white capitalist violence.”

Marks co-authored an article titled “<a href="https://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/china/2022-02-08/women-rights-revenge-patriarchs?check_logged_in=1&amp;utm_medium=promo_email&amp;utm_source=lo_flows&amp;utm_campaign=registered_user_welcome&amp;utm_term=email_1&amp;utm_content=20221101" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Revenge of the Patriarchs: Why Autocrats Fear Women</a>” in which she discusses the role of women throughout world history and politics. From Marks’ perspective, “Countries with authoritarian-leaning leaders, such as Brazil, Hungary, and Poland, have seen the rise of far-right movements that promote traditional gender roles as patriotic while railing against ‘gender ideology.’”

In the same publication, Marks also said,

“Even the United States has experienced a slowdown in progress toward gender equity and a rollback of reproductive rights…During his presidency, Donald Trump worked with antifeminist stalwarts…to halt the expansion of women’s rights around the world.”

“And despite the Biden administration’s commitment to gender equity at the national level, Republican-controlled states are attempting to reverse the constitutional right to abortion, which is now more vulnerable than it has been in decades.”

Erica Chenoweth is <a href="https://www.foreignaffairs.com/podcasts/beyond-roe-mutually-reinforcing-nature-misogyny-and-autocracy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">described by Foreign Affairs</a> as “one of the world’s foremost experts on the history of civil resistance, mass movements, and political repression.”

According to her <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/erica-chenoweth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Kennedy School profile</a>, Chenoweth is the Frank Stanton Professor of the First Amendment and a Susan S. and Kenneth L. Wallach Professor at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Studies.

Chenoweth is an active member of the LGBT+ community who prefers the pronouns “they/them/their.” Her publications include several books and articles focused on civil, “nonviolent resistance.”

In her paper “<a href="https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Erica-Chenoweth/publication/256063007_Terrorism_and_Democracy/links/5d9eb26992851cce3c910876/Terrorism-and-Democracy.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Terrorism and Democracy,</a>” Chenoweth explores links between terrorism and democratic societies. In response to research findings, she states,

“Democracies with low levels of legitimacy, poor human rights practices, intermediate levels of political and economic development, and unresolved conflict among ethnic and political groups experienced the most terrorism.”

As the director of <a href="https://carrcenter.hks.harvard.edu/non-violent-social-movements?_gl=1*1q1l377*_ga*NjQ4MTM2OTgyLjE2NjQ5MDU5MTg.*_ga_72NC9RC7VN*MTY2NzM0NDUzOS43LjEuMTY2NzM0NDU0Ni4wLjAuMA.." target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard’s Nonviolent Action Lab</a>, Chenoweth leads a cause that “produces and disseminates up-to-date knowledge on nonviolent action, how it works, and global trends in success and failure.” In 2020, the Lab featured an article she co-authored titled “<a href="https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2020/oct/20/erica-chenoweth-and-jeremy-pressman-black-lives-ma/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Black Lives Matter protesters were overwhelming peaceful, our research finds.</a>” She defends the “mostly peaceful protests” narrative and cites data from a Homeland Threat Assessment:

“[T]he report misleadingly added that there had been ‘over 100 days of violence destruction in our cities,’ referring to the anti-racism uprisings this past summer. In fact, Black Lives Matter uprisings were remarkably nonviolent.”

“Only 3.7% of the protests involved property damage or vandalism…our data suggest that 96.3% of events involved no property damage or police injuries, and in 97.7% of events, no injuries were reported among participants, bystanders or police.”

<a href="https://aaas.fas.harvard.edu/people/jesse-mccarthy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jesse McCarthy</a> is an Assistant Professor of English as well as a Professor of African and African American Studies at Harvard University. His interests include African American Literature, Modernism, and Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies.

McCarthy authored a collection of essays entitled “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Who-Will-Pay-Reparations-Soul-ebook/dp/B08D1K6354/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=who+will+pay+reparations+on+my+soul+essays&amp;qid=1668008114&amp;sprefix=who+will+pay%2Caps%2C279&amp;sr=8-1&amp;asin=B08D1K6354&amp;revisionId=5b7726f8&amp;format=1&amp;depth=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Who Will Pay Reparations on My Soul?</a>” in which he argues “for the central role of art and intellection culture in an age of widening inequality and moral crisis,” according to the publisher’s summary. In his introduction, A Note on Style and Usage, McCarthy says,

“Pride in culture and rooted history have always been important to our struggles. Historically, W.E.B. Du Bois and others fought to have the word ‘Negro’ capitalized for this very reason. In that case, ‘the Negro’ became a demonym specifically denoting US racial blackness. The word ‘Negro’...reflects and will always be associated with the history of black Americans under the racial regime of Jim Crow.”

When <a href="https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2021/06/jesse-mccarthy-discusses-his-new-essay-collection/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Harvard Gazette asked McCarthy</a>, “Where does the title of the collection come from?”, he said, 

“The title is an homage to Gil Scott-Heron…a writer, a poet, and a musician who used his art as a vehicle for ideas and politics and critical thinking…I’m more interested in asking and provoking questions than providing answers.”

He continued,

“This isn’t a prescriptive book — you can’t open it and find an answer to the question of reparations for racial injustice in America or anywhere else. But hopefully, you can open the book and it will provoke you to think about those problems in new ways and raise a bunch of new ones too.”

In 2021, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/26/books/review/jesse-mccarthy-who-will-pay-reparations-on-my-soul.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">featured McCarthy discussing his collection of essays</a> in an article titled To This Essayist and Cultural Critic, the Black Tradition is Resistance. Regarding McCarthy’s target audience for the book, the commentary says, “Some potential readership came of age in the period bookended by the police killings of Michale Brown, in 2014, and both Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, in 2020 — the same period during which McCarthy wrote the essays…”

The New York Times continued, “[McCarthy] mainly hopes to convey ‘the basic premise that nothing is outside our purview, that there are no limits to the ideas, realms of knowledge, creative traditions or political histories that we can lay claim to and incorporate…[McCarthy] convincing explained [his] personal decision to resist the trend of capitalizing ‘Black’ in reference to the community to which he happens to belong.”

<a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/bobo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lawrence D. Bobo</a> is the Dean of Social Science and the W.E.B. Du Bois Professor of the Social Sciences at Harvard University. His faculty profile also says he served as the Chair of the Department of African and African-American Studies, and his research focuses on the “intersection of social psychology, social inequality, politics, and race.”

In June 2020, <a href="https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2020/06/lawrence-d-bobo-examines-police-killings-of-black-men/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Harvard Gazette published a Q &amp; A</a> titled “The Fire This Time.” The subheading says, “[Bobo] dissects police killings of Black men and the history and cognitive forces behind racial bigotry and violence, and why he sees signs of hope.”

The Gazette asked, “In the majority of police-related killings of Black people, the assailants are white. Is that enough to conclude that racism is the cause, or are their other causes also at work?” Bobo responded,

“Certainly racism, and both the historic legacy of racism and the long, deeply etched legacy of racism in terms of our current social conditions and circumstances…have been profoundly distorted by racism.”

He continued,

“It’s really important to recall that what slavery did…was to forge a tight link between our social class structure and a kind of racial hierarchy. It created a bottom rung of people who were racially stigmatized and in the deepest economic disadvantage and poverty.”

Bobo co-authored a book entitled, “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Racial_Attitudes_in_America/mPOWMEEKpY0C?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=Racial+Attitudes+in+America&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Racial Attitudes in America: Trends and Interpretations</a>.” Chapter 3: Trends in White Racial Attitudes discusses six questions surrounding trends “of how white racial attitudes changed over the past half-century.” Regarding affirmative action, Bobo et al., stated,

“The first affirmative action steps had been attempts to eliminate what came to be called ‘institutional racism’...A second, more active type of affirmative step was to devote government funds to improving the lives of black Americans…Finally, a third and still more dramatic step was to give preference to blacks in employment and educational situations, as a way of…accelerating the move toward equality of outcomes.” 

Bobo was named among the “Top 10 Black Sociologists from the last 30 Years” in a publication from <a href="https://academicinfluence.com/rankings/people/black-scholars/sociologists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Academic Influence</a>. Bobo’s profile is dated from 1900-present [sic], ranks him #79,953 “Most Influential Person,” and links to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_D._Bobo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bob’s Wikipedia page</a>. Harvard’s Department of Sociology issued a “wholehearted endorsement” of <a href="https://sociology.fas.harvard.edu/sites/hwpi.harvard.edu/files/sociology/files/george_floyd_and_our_times.pdf?m=1591301322" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bobo’s statement on the death of George Floyd</a> in which Bobo said he was “encouraged by the level of mass mobilization and civil protest[s]” that took place across the United States and around the world.

<a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/marcella-alsan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Marcella Alsan</a> is a Professor of Public Policy and Faculty affiliate in the Department of Economics at Harvard University. <a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/alsan/files/cv_alsan.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to her CV</a>, she’s taught in the fields of medicine, health research and policy, and economics since 2013.

From 2021 to 2022, Alsan served on the Committee on Improving the Representation of Women and Underrepresented Minorities in Clinical Trials and Research at NASEM (<a href="https://www.nationalacademies.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine</a>). According to the About page, NASEM is a nonprofit institution that “works to shape sound policies, inform public opinion, and advance the pursuit of science, engineering, and medicine.”

Alsan and her committee <a href="https://www.nationalacademies.org/our-work/improving-the-representation-of-women-and-underrepresented-minorities-in-clinical-trials-and-research#sectionPublications" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published a study</a> that concluded, “While progress has been made with the representation of white women in clinical trials and clinical research, there has been little progress in the last three decades to increase participation of racial and ethnic minority population groups.”

Alsan also co-authored a paper titled “<a href="https://www.nber.org/system/files/working_papers/w24787/w24787.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Does Diversity Matter for Health? Experimental Evidence From Oakland</a>.” Citing previous studies, the introduction says,

“African-American men have the lowest life expectancy of any major demographic group in the United States and live on average 4.5 few years than non-Hispanic white men. Reasons for this disparity are multifactorial and include lack of health insurance, lower socioeconomic status, and structural racism.”

Alsan et al., further state,

“There are several ways in which racial diversity could play a role in medicine, specifically as it relates to the patient-doctor relationship. Taste-based discrimination on the part of the patient or doctor could imply that individuals are averse to interacting with those who do not share their racial background. On the other hand, internalized racism…could lead to the opposite phenomenon…” 

In 2020, Alsan <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/wiener-conference-calls/marcella-alsan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">joined a Weiner Conference Call</a> to talk about the “economics of infectious diseases” where she discussed the Covid-19 virus, vaccines, and some research conducted by Dr. Anthony Fauci’s — the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) who was <a href="https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/20793561/leopold-nih-foia-anthony-fauci-emails.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exposed for allegedly covering up origins of the Covid-19 pandemic</a>.

During the questions section, the moderator asked on behalf of a student, “‘Very open the terms ‘minorities’ and ‘marginalized communities’ are used interchangeably…During Covid-19, has it been important or relevant to make a distinction between the two groups from a policy point of view?’” 

Alsan gave a hesitant, incoherent response, “I think what…I work mostly in the United States and I think it’s important to think about who is historically disadvantaged, and, um, who might need…who [is] particularly vulnerable. Because simply being less than the majority doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be equally vulnerable.”

On October 17, 2022, the National Academy of Medicine <a href="https://nam.edu/national-academy-of-medicine-elects-100-new-members-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced Aslan as a newly elected member</a>. The announcement says she was elected for “her scholarly insights on understanding the origins of medical mistrust and the role it plays in understanding health disparities. Her work has shaped policy in addressing disparities…and improving messaging in reaching historically marginalized and vulnerable populations.”

<a href="https://oge.harvard.edu/people/shirley-greene" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Shirley Greene</a> is the Associate Dean of Students at the Harvard Extension School. She’s also a member of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences - <a href="https://edib.harvard.edu/DCE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Division of Continuing Education</a>. Her profile says she’s “dedicated to furthering diversity, inclusion, and belonging” at Harvard.

Dr. Greene’s primary role is the Title IX Resources Coordinator — a position that gives her unrestricted access to all complaints of sexual discrimination, as well as reports of retaliation or system issues that may continually raise once complaints are processed.

Dr. Greene is an affiliate and ally of Harvard’s <a href="https://oge.harvard.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Office for Gender Equity (OGE)</a>. The organization provides “professional training” to recognize, report, investigate and appeal sexual misconduct. The About page states, 

“The [OGE] empowers and supports the Harvard community to advance a climate of gender equity and inclusion through evidence-based educational initiatives, excellence in research and practice, and delivery of direct services.”

In a video titled “<a href="https://youtu.be/yCb5bUnfzMI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A Brief History of Juneteenth,</a>” Dr. Greene begins her talk by asking, “What does Juneteenth mean to you?” She follows up by giving her interpretation of the holiday and says,’

“Juneteenth marks the day slavery officially ended in the United States on June 19, 1865. President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation promised freedom to enslaved people in the Confederate states on January 1, 1863, following the four-year Civil War.”

She continued,

“However, it was a full two and half years before all states were compelled to honor this executive order, effectively freeing the 250,000 people still being held under slavery in Texas. We join you in giving this holiday the national recognition it deserves, while acknowledging that many members of the African-American community continue to struggle for the dignity, access, equality, equity, and inclusion that was envisioned by the Emancipation Proclamation.”

<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/faculty/crystal-s-yang/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crystal S. Yang</a> holds a Ph.D. in Economics and is the Bennett Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. Her areas of interest include civil rights, law and equity, poverty law and economic justice.

Yang’s faculty appointment was announced in a 2019 article from <a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/today/crystal-yang-13-named-professor-of-law-at-harvard-law-school/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Law Today</a>. The report says,

“Yang’s recent empirical projects focus on the effects of the bail system on defendants’ short and long-term outcomes, racial bias in the criminal justice system, the spillover effects of deportation fear, and the use of algorithms in the criminal justice system.”

Yang co-authored a study titled “<a href="https://academic.oup.com/qje/article-abstract/133/4/1885/5025665?redirectedFrom=fulltext" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Racial Bias in Bail Decisions</a>.” The abstract states, 

“We motivate our analysis using <a href="https://www.chicagobooth.edu/review/how-gary-becker-saw-the-scourge-of-discrimination" target="_blank" rel="noopener">[Gary] Becker’s model of racial bias</a>, which predicts that rates of pretrial misconduct will be identical for marginal white and marginal black defendants if bail judges are racially unbiased. In contrast, marginal white defendants will have higher rates of misconduct than marginal black defendants if the bail judges are racially biased…”

Yang et al., continued,

“We find suggestive evidence that racial bias is driven by bail judges relying on inaccurate stereotypes that exaggerate the relative danger of releasing black defendants.”

Yang was also featured in the Winter 2019 issue of Harvard Law Bulletin in an article titled “<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/today/crystal-yang-an-empirical-approach/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crystal Yang: An Empirical Approach: Making the Case for Criminal Justice Reform</a>.” The author said, “While pretrial detention is often justified as a crime deterrent, Yang and her colleagues found that it actually has a criminogenic effect.” Yang was credited with researching and developing “tools that judges could use to make more-informed decisions.”

In 2021, <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/bpea-articles/the-economic-costs-of-pretrial-detention/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brookings reported</a> Yang’s research on bail disparities led her to co-author a study that led to the conclusion of how “reducing pre-trial detention…would generate significant economic returns for accused individuals…their families and communities.”

<a href="https://uvahealth.com/findadoctor/profile/christine-m-burt-solorzano" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christine M. Burt Solorzano</a> is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the <a href="https://www.virginia.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Virginia</a> (UVA), who described performing gender transitions on children as young as 9 years old in.
The UVA-affiliated hospital that employs Solorzano lists <a href="https://childrens.uvahealth.com/services/transgender-youth-health" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a range of procedures available to “trans, nonbinary, intersex, and asexual” children as young as 11 years old</a>. The “Transgender Youth Health Services” advertised include:
&#8211; Education about sex and contraception.
&#8211; Referrals for therapy to help manage anxiety, depression, and ongoing emotional issues.
&#8211; Puberty blockers that delay sex-related physical changes.
&#8211; Help in finding resources in the community.
&#8211; Referrals for gender-affirming surgeries and voice therapy.
The clinic requires an official diagnosis of gender dysphoria by a medical professional and consent from a parent or guardian to treat minors. However, the hospital’s definition of dysphoria is subjective; a diagnosis may only require that “a child’s sense of their gender differs from the sex assigned to them at birth.” Parents are not even required to attend initial appointments with their children.
In a lecture uncovered by The Daily Caller, <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2022/10/03/university-of-virginia-youth-gender-clinic-offers-puberty-blockers-chemical-castration-referrals-minors-undergo-breast-removal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Solorzano discusses performing “irreversible” surgeries</a> as a part of a gender transition. While claiming that many are only offered to those over 18, she states that children as young as 16 years old may receive double mastectomies. A masectomy–or “top surgery”—removes an otherwise healthy teenager&#8217;s breasts as part of the female-to-male transition.

Further on, Dr. Solorzano discusses how she uses “cross-sex” hormones to block puberty in teens who transition. Acknowledging that while these drugs are not recommended for minors, she states that making a teen suffering from dysphoria undergo property is “cruel.” Dr. Solorzano believes that many teens are mature enough to make these “irreversible” decisions.

Conceding that children must first begin puberty before treatment, Dr. Solorzano recalls consulting a 9-year-old girl on receiving hormones. She then claims that puberty blockers are temporary and puberty can be resumed at any time by stopping treatment.

<a href="https://gened.as.virginia.edu/walsh">David Austin Walsh</a> is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia. His academic work centers on alleging active links between the far-right and conservatism over the past two centuries. Walsh <a href="https://gened.as.virginia.edu/egmt-1530-hateinnany-fascism-antifascism-and-global-far-right">teaches a course titled</a> Hateinnany: Fascism, Antifascism, and the Global Far Right.

In an attempt to tie far-right extremism to mainstream conservatism, Walsh has penned various articles attempting to connect mainstream conservatism with mass shootings. Writing for Arc Digital, he describes the <a href="https://www.elpasotimes.com/story/news/2019/08/05/el-paso-shooting-victim-list-names-identified-walmart-tx-texas/1918691001/">El Paso shooter’s</a> violent and bigoted ideology as <a href="https://arcdigital.media/the-el-paso-shooter-and-donald-trump-share-the-same-politics-so-why-doesnt-the-media-say-so-aff5062c26b1">identical to widely-held conservative stances</a>.

Burt Solorzano</a> is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the <a href="https://www.virginia.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Virginia</a> (UVA), who described performing gender transitions on children as young as 9 years old in.

The UVA-affiliated hospital that employs Solorzano lists <a href="https://childrens.uvahealth.com/services/transgender-youth-health" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a range of procedures available to “trans, nonbinary, intersex, and asexual” children as young as 11 years old</a>. The “Transgender Youth Health Services” advertised include:

- Education about sex and contraception.

- Referrals for therapy to help manage anxiety, depression, and ongoing emotional issues.

- Puberty blockers that delay sex-related physical changes.

- Help in finding resources in the community.

- Referrals for gender-affirming surgeries and voice therapy.

The clinic requires an official diagnosis of gender dysphoria by a medical professional and consent from a parent or guardian to treat minors. However, the hospital’s definition of dysphoria is subjective; a diagnosis may only require that “a child’s sense of their gender differs from the sex assigned to them at birth.” Parents are not even required to attend initial appointments with their children.

In a lecture uncovered by The Daily Caller, <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2022/10/03/university-of-virginia-youth-gender-clinic-offers-puberty-blockers-chemical-castration-referrals-minors-undergo-breast-removal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Solorzano discusses performing “irreversible” surgeries</a> as a part of a gender transition. While claiming that many are only offered to those over 18, she states that children as young as 16 years old may receive double mastectomies. A masectomy–or “top surgery”—removes an otherwise healthy teenager's breasts as part of the female-to-male transition.

Further on, Dr. Solorzano discusses how she uses “cross-sex” hormones to block puberty in teens who transition. Acknowledging that while these drugs are not recommended for minors, she states that making a teen suffering from dysphoria undergo property is “cruel.” Dr. Solorzano believes that many teens are mature enough to make these “irreversible” decisions.

Dr. Mehler begins his lecture by warning that the air we breathe is dangerous, claiming that this is why “experts” continue to advise wearing masks at all times. Continuing, he states that our civilization is collapsing and that our species is going extinct.
After welcoming students to the class, Dr. Mehler launches into a profanity-laced polemic describing how he is “beholden to no c*ck-sucker” and no one in the university administration will tell him how to teach his class. He proceeds to describe his students as “vectors of disease” and states that he “no longer gives a flying f*ck,” as he is retiring at the end of the year.

<a href="https://manoa.hawaii.edu/biology/people/marguerite-butler">Dr. Marguerite Butler</a> is a Professor of Zoology at the University of Hawaii-Manoa. Butler is currently being sued by a student for assault and battery. She allegedly attacked the student for not transporting bugs and flammable liquids. According to the student, he was trying to respect federal and state laws regarding the transportation and removal of these specific fluids and native bugs.

<a href="https://math.hawaii.edu/wordpress/people/paharron/">Dr. Piper Harron</a> is a Temporary Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of Hawaii. Harron wrote an article about how white, male professors should resign or take a demotion in order to improve diversity. Harron wrote, "If you are a white cis man (meaning you identify as male and you were assigned male at birth) you almost certainly should resign from your position of power. That’s right, please quit. Too difficult? Well, as a first step, at least get off your hiring committee, your curriculum committee, and make sure you’re replaced by a woman of color or trans person." She also wrote, "What can universities do? Well, that’s easier. Stop hiring white cis men (except as needed to get/retain people who are not white cis men) until the problem goes away. If you think this is a bad or un-serious idea, your sexism/racism/transphobia is showing."

<a href="https://manoa.hawaii.edu/liveonstage/staff-members/sami-akuna/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sami L.A. Akuna</a> is a Professor of Theatre and Dance at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (UH Mānoa). 

According to <a href="https://campusreform.org/article?id=20487" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a>, Akuna will be teaching a “queer dance course” at UH Mānoa. This course will be the first of its kind to be offered by any American college. 

<a href="https://www.hawaii.edu/news/2022/10/11/manoa-queer-dance-course/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Hawai’i News</a> (UHN) writes that, in the course, Akuna “presents students with choreography and dance techniques that have graced Hawaiʻi’s entertainment scene through the decades, dating back to revered onstage revues in the 1960s at The Glades, a popular downtown Honolulu bar that featured female impersonation.”

UHN says that “queer dance” “can be traced back to the 1980s, [and] was born out of gay and lesbian dance clubs and ballroom culture and has been widely popularized on stage by pop artists such as Lady Gaga and Madonna.”

According to UHN, “Queer dance also features performing art forms such as impersonation, lip-synching and pantomime. The UH Mānoa course incorporates techniques and choreography created by Asian and Pacific Islander māhū (identity with male and female characteristics) here in Hawaiʻi.”

Akuna is also a drag queen who goes by the stage name of “Cocoa Chandelier” (see image below). According to his university profile, as a drag queen, Akuna “travels continuously as an advocate and spokesperson for HIV/AIDS, and is a long standing member with the United Territories of Pacific Islanders in Alliance that serves the Native Pacific Island and MVPFAFF+ community across the Hawaiian islands and the Pacific.”

<a href="https://www.paisleycurrah.com/">Paisley Currah </a>is a Political Science and Women’s &amp; Gender Studies professor at Brooklyn College. His main area of research centers on transgender issues.
In an interview, <a href="https://jewishcurrents.org/sex-according-to-the-state" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Currah states that</a> “even the most sophisticated thinkers in trans and queer studies aren’t great at thinking about the state.” He argues that state governments have a role in defining sex and that certain policies can hurt transgender individuals. According to Currah, “trans people would benefit from prison abolition, universal health care, and getting rid of income inequality.” He also states, &#8220;We’ve denaturalized sex, but we haven’t really denaturalized the state. It’s like we’ve spent all our time reading Judith Butler and not Marx.”
In Currah’s book, he investigates how <a href="https://www.paisleycurrah.com/sexisassexdoes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the government regulates an individual’s sex.</a> He asks what the role of sex represents in “how we play sports, in how we access health care, or in the bathroom we use?” The book description states, “the difficulties transgender people face are not just the result of transphobia but also stem from larger injustices.”
According to Currah, the recent decision by the Supreme Court to send abortion laws back to the states “bring[s] back sex as a tool for distributing rights.” He claims that the Republican party uses transgender issues to re-prosecute women’s rights. For example, Currah states, “you can’t say women shouldn’t work, but you can say, “That’s not a proper woman.”” Currah hopes that decisions against abortion will refocus transgender activism on issues like the patriarchy.
<a href="https://www.nybooks.com/online/2022/05/28/asymmetry-of-gender/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In another interview, Currah states,</a> “There’s no doubt that the Republican assault on gender-affirming care for trans youth, on trans girls playing on girls’ teams, really is transphobic.” He continues, “I still want us to recognize that [sic] transphobia is also politically instrumental for the right.” He ends by stating that while transphobia is awful, the status quo “is also terrible in its own quiet way.” According to Currah, “The spectacular character of this targeted transphobia can make it difficult to see the quotidian effects of systems that produce poverty, incarceration, illness, and death and affect trans people in the blue states as well as the red ones.”

<a href="http://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu/web/academics/faculty/faculty_profile.jsp?faculty=441">Laurie Rubel</a> is a professor of Secondary Education at Brooklyn College in New York. According to her university biography, Rubel’s research is focused on equity in mathematics education and the use of real-world urban contexts in the teaching of mathematics.

Much of Rubel’s work is devoted to contending that white supremacy is embedded in many aspects of this country and everyday life - from the nation’s founding, to dislike of the WNBA.

Rubel’s views drew <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=15409">wide-spread attention</a> after she suggested in a <a href="https://twitter.com/Laurie_Rubel/status/1290554158421073920">tweet</a> that teaching that math “reeks” of white supremacy.

Her tweet was not designed to be hyperbolic in any sense. Rubel believes that white supremacy is firmly ingrained in subjects like math, and regularly reinforced in the classroom. As the co-author of <a href="https://www.researchgate.net/publication/331982850_The_Soft_Bigotry_of_Low_Expectations_And_Its_Role_in_Maintaining_White_Supremacy_through_Mathematics_Education">The Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations</a>, Rubel posits that white people have developed a racial and structural advantage in education that is consistently maintained through the teaching of mathematics. She believes that concepts like suggesting America is a meritocracy, or the idea that individuals are rewarded for hard work are inherently racist towards black students. White supremacy is no more evident, she claims, than through the ideas of “meritocracy” and “color blindness”:

“...the rhetoric of meritocracy implies that success results from hard work or talent and is not a function of the myriad of institutional structures that mediate opportunities and distribute rewards according to race and social background.”    

“Colorblindness, or the avoidance of or denial of signifying students' races in curriculum, classrooms, and schools, ignores the causes and impact of enduring racial stratification.”  

Rubel’s central thesis is that both “tools of whiteness” and subjects like math effectively disenfranchise students of color. Her argument is that racial disparities in students' scores are not because of behavior, but due to systematic racism and society’s tendency to attribute poor performance to the former, and resultant refusal to latter, reinforces a system of oppression.

As if anticipating the forthcoming criticism, she alleges that critiques of her position are emblematic of racism itself. Rubel states that her critics are “blame shifting” and attempting to ignore blatant white supremacy,

“One way that white supremacists counter critiques of racism is through a tactic known as “blame-shifting.” This tactic is a self-defense maneuver in which the white supremacists defend themselves against the charge of racism by shifting that charge onto the critique itself.” 

Commenting on Twitter, she claimed that she was a victim of “white-nationalists” criticizing her views.

While taking a soon apparent shot at our nation’s borders, she further elaborates on this by employing queer theory in, “<a href="https://www.researchgate.net/publication/340000097_Queering_Mathematics_Disrupting_Binary_Oppositions_in_Mathematics_Pre-service_Teacher_Education">Queering Mathematics</a>.”  <a href="https://www.oxfordreference.com/view/10.1093/oi/authority.20110803100358573">Queer theory</a> is an outgrowth of critical race theory, that seeks to deconstruct traditional standards of sexuality and gender in the West.

Rubel states that queer theory can be used to deconstruct or “queer” borders that both exist between countries and within classrooms and mathematics, as both are the “site of physical, social, and cultural marginalization.” To Rubel, one example of a border is the genders assigned to students,

“Conventional borders around sex, gender, and sexuality maintain these forms of marginalization and oppression that often leads to violence in schools.”

In addition to racism, she claims that toxic masculinity is inherent in mathematics, rendering it inaccessible for women:

“The masculinization of mathematics can be understood as an exclusionary border for girls and women...because to choose to participate in mathematics means to be comfortable and to welcome participating and performing in a masculine space.”

Rational and objective thinking are derided as purely “masculine” as well. The reliance on “binary thinking” (or what is right or wrong) that is inherent in mathematics is claimed by Rubel to reinforce “borders,” between race and gender.

In order to deconstruct math and its borders, Rubel advocates “queering” math to address more social justice issues. She hopes by dismantling math, the subject will be moved away from concepts like the existence of “only one right answer” and towards more subjective “lived experiences” of students.

Rubel is very open about communicating her politics in the classroom, as it is evidenced by her tweets admitting so. When asked in a tweet what her optimal classrooms look like, Rubel revealed that she lectures her students that police regularly execute black Americans while on duty.

Rubel has written extensively on using the classroom to push political ends. In an academic paper titled, “<a href="https://www.researchgate.net/publication/336769522_Classrooms_as_Laboratories_of_Democracy_for_Social_Transformation_The_Role_of_Data_Literacy">Classrooms as Laboratories of Democracy for Social Transformation</a>,” she asserts that classrooms can be used to imbed left-wing issues into her students:

“...we outlined where data literacy is part of a collective movement toward transformation and social change.” 

Another aspect of Rubel’s envisioned social transformation is the redefining of words that she disapproves of.

Alex Vitale is a <a href="https://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu/web/news/faculty-experts/vitale-alex.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of Sociology</a> and Coordinator of the Policing and Social Justice Project at the University of Brooklyn in New York City. His areas of expertise include sociology, policing, public safety, crime, and alternatives to incarceration. He has also penned two books and often writes for publications such as The New York Times, Daily News, and USA Today.

A subject Dr. Vitale discusses often is his disdain for the police. In March of 2020, Dr. Vitale <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/centers/wiener/programs/criminaljustice/news-events/reimagining8-alex-vitale" target="_blank" rel="noopener">delivered a speech at Harvard Kennedy School </a>about the benefits of abolishing police departments. In his lecture, he accuses the institution of policing of being systemically racist. He alleges that public education and free drug treatment will combat the war on drugs better than the police. In his opinion, these things will “actually reduce the harm of drugs… in a way that is directly the opposite of turning the problem over to police.”

Dr. Vitale has tweeted several times about the thin blue line flag. He argues that the flag is racist and a sign of white supremacy. Some of these tweets are included below:

In <a href="https://newrepublic.com/article/144646/trump-already-wall-its-thin-blue-line" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an article published by The New Republic</a>, Dr. Vitale continues to discuss his anti-police rhetoric, and he also shares a dislike for conservatives. According to Dr. Vitale, “Policing represents a deeply conservative view of the nature of the state… the only appropriate role for the state is a repressive one, to use punitive mechanisms to coerce people into proper behavior.” He goes on to state that, “The reality is that the police exist primarily as a system for managing and even producing inequality by suppressing social movements and tightly managing the behaviors of poor and nonwhite people: those on the losing end of economic and political arrangements.”

Dr. Vitale has also taken to Twitter to speak negatively on white Americans. <a href="https://twitter.com/avitale/status/1059869990948614145" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In one tweet</a>, Dr. Vitale recommended that for four years only black women should be able to vote, as “white men had their go at it.” In another tweet, he shares a podcast he enjoys along with the statement, “I don't think we can over-estimate the role of patriarchy in shaping right wing extremism. It's not just about white supremacy.”

<a href="https://www.paisleycurrah.com/">Paisley Currah </a>is a Political Science and Women’s &amp; Gender Studies professor at Brooklyn College. His main area of research centers on transgender issues.

In an interview, <a href="https://jewishcurrents.org/sex-according-to-the-state" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Currah states that</a> “even the most sophisticated thinkers in trans and queer studies aren’t great at thinking about the state.” He argues that state governments have a role in defining sex and that certain policies can hurt transgender individuals. According to Currah, “trans people would benefit from prison abolition, universal health care, and getting rid of income inequality.” He also states, "We’ve denaturalized sex, but we haven’t really denaturalized the state. It’s like we’ve spent all our time reading Judith Butler and not Marx.”

In Currah’s book, he investigates how <a href="https://www.paisleycurrah.com/sexisassexdoes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the government regulates an individual’s sex.</a> He asks what the role of sex represents in “how we play sports, in how we access health care, or in the bathroom we use?” The book description states, “the difficulties transgender people face are not just the result of transphobia but also stem from larger injustices.”

According to Currah, the recent decision by the Supreme Court to send abortion laws back to the states “bring[s] back sex as a tool for distributing rights.” He claims that the Republican party uses transgender issues to re-prosecute women’s rights. For example, Currah states, “you can’t say women shouldn’t work, but you can say, “That’s not a proper woman.”” Currah hopes that decisions against abortion will refocus transgender activism on issues like the patriarchy.

<a href="https://www.nybooks.com/online/2022/05/28/asymmetry-of-gender/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In another interview, Currah states,</a> “There’s no doubt that the Republican assault on gender-affirming care for trans youth, on trans girls playing on girls’ teams, really is transphobic.” He continues, “I still want us to recognize that [sic] transphobia is also politically instrumental for the right.” He ends by stating that while transphobia is awful, the status quo “is also terrible in its own quiet way.” According to Currah, “The spectacular character of this targeted transphobia can make it difficult to see the quotidian effects of systems that produce poverty, incarceration, illness, and death and affect trans people in the blue states as well as the red ones.”

<a href="https://www.phil.uga.edu/directory/people/irami-osei-frimpong" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Irami Osei-Frimpong</a> is a Teaching Assistant at the University of Georgia. He’s called for the death of white people and claimed that racial violence is the only way to achieve social justice.
In a now-deleted Medium article, Irami announced <a href="https://archive.ph/TCbjw#selection-127.0-134.0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he was banned from Facebook</a> for stating that killing “some” white people isn’t genocide. The article is a repost of Irami’s original post, in which he defended a Texas A&amp;M professor—Tommy Curry—who called for killing white people:
“I guess I am going to post once more on Curry’s situation. We are too easy on white people. A prominent critical race theorist, Dr. Love is responsible for the anti-racist curriculum that schools across the country use to teach students. Her work has been described as the <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/abolishing-america-biden-and-bettina-love/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“single most comprehensive and up-to-date guide to the ideology of the CRT movement in education.</a>”

<a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2012/03/11/what-is-critical-race-theory/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Critical race theory is an intellectual branch of Marxism</a>—also referred to as critical theory—that alleges <a href="https://newdiscourses.com/tftw-critical-race-theory/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">white supremacy infects all political, legal, and cultural institutions</a> in America. Many prominent critical theorists, including professor <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/nikolehannahjones" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Nikole Hannah-Jones</a>, even claim that the <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/nikolehannahjones" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nation’s true founding year is 1619</a>—rather than 1776—when the first slave stepped foot in North America.

Dr. Love describes herself as an <a href="https://bettinalove.com/about/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">abolitionist and anti-racist activist educator</a> who works to understand and critique “systemic and structural racism in education.”<a href="https://thefederalist.com/2021/08/12/meet-bettina-l-love-a-critical-race-theorist-coming-to-a-school-near-you/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> She further details her beliefs</a> in her book, “<a href="https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/622408/we-want-to-do-more-than-survive-by-bettina-love/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">We Want to Do More Than Survive.</a>”

Dr. Love is the founder of the Abolitionist Teaching Network (ATN) whose goal is to provide educators with the resources for abolitionist teaching, which Dr. Love characterizes <a href="https://www.sesp.northwestern.edu/news-center/news/2021/01/abolitionist-teaching-a-conversation-with-bettina-l-love.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">as “calling out” fellow teachers who are racist, homophobic, or Islamophobic.”</a>

ATN’s own documents encourage abolitionist teachers to promote the “liberation” of people of color and “embody the spirit” of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The resource instructs educators to demand the following from their school districts:

- Hire more black, brown, and indigenous teachers,

- Hire abolitionist teachers,

- Free anti-racist therapy for white educators,

- Reduce class sizes for the benefit of black, brown, and indigenous children,

- Remove any and all police officers from schools,

- Reparations for minority children,

- Teaching standards that promote “Black, Brown, and Indigenous liberation.”

The document further accuses schools of the “spirit murder” of minority studies via disciplinary practices. Dr. Love uses this phrase in a separate article <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20210106043843/https://www.edweek.org/leadership/opinion-how-schools-are-spirit-murdering-black-and-brown-students/2019/05" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to accuse white educators of levying racist punishments to humiliate and “destroy” their students of color.</a>

The article appeared in EducationWeekly where Dr. Love contributes articles that are full of racial invectives and diatribes. One claims that <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20211011180846/https://www.edweek.org/leadership/opinion-grit-is-in-our-dna-why-teaching-grit-is-inherently-anti-black/2019/02" target="_blank" rel="noopener">teaching students to work hard is racist.</a> Her article—<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20210722025254/https://www.edweek.org/teaching-learning/opinion-dear-white-teachers-you-cant-love-your-black-students-if-you-dont-know-them/2019/03" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dear White Teachers: You Can’t Love Your Black Students If You Don’t Know them</a>—accuses white teachers of being incapable of teaching black students.

Dr. Love's work is promoted and incorporated into school districts across the country. <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/critical-race-theory-activist-education-department-connections" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Department of Education under the Biden administration once listed ATN and Dr. Love’s work as resources</a>. She was invited to address the Virginia Department of Education’s Equity Summit where she called to dismantle capitalism and systemic racism in schools.

Dr. Love was also invited to the San Diego Unified School District, where she <a href="https://christopherrufo.com/radicals-in-the-classroom/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly told attendees that white teachers are responsible for the suffering of “dark children.”</a>  Slides presented during her lecture stated, “Whiteness reproduces poverty, failing schools, high unemployment, school closings, and trauma for people of color.”

The assignment—provided exclusively to the Professor Watchlist by an anonymous source—is part of the course, “The Politics of Terrorism,” or PLSC 439. The syllabus states the following as  the goal for the class,

Al-Awlaki <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Anwar-al-Awlaki" target="_blank" rel="noopener">was the mastermind </a>behind the Fort Hood Shooting and the attempted Christmas Day bombing attack of Northwest Airlines Flight 253 to Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. Sumi Cho is a <a href="https://law.depaul.edu/faculty-and-staff/Documents/Cho%20cv.10.2018.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tenured law professor at DePaul University College of Law.</a> Dr. Cho lectures on many subjects for the university but most commonly teaches a Critical Race Theory seminar and courses on Employment Discrimination, Feminist Jurisprudence, and Race, Racism &amp; U.S. Law.

In 2018, DePaul University <a href="https://depauliaonline.com/38281/news/front-news-law-school/">began an investigation into Dr. Cho</a> after claims of “disruptive, bullying workplace behavior” came to light. Pending an internal investigation, she faced two years of unpaid suspension. Dr. Cho then countersued against DePaul University and the law school’s Dean. In the suit against the Dean, Dr. Cho alleged she was retaliated against for being outspoken on racial issues and discrimination within the law school, claiming she and others were racially discriminated against. In the suit against the university, she claimed she was not getting equal pay to white, male cohorts. <a href="https://www.abajournal.com/magazine/article/a-recent-spate-of-gender-discrimination-and-equal-pay-lawsuits-filed-by-female-law-professors-has-shined-a-light-on-the-otherwise-opaque-academic-compensation-process">The university eventually settled in mediation.</a>

In August 2021, Dr. Cho was one of the core faculty members at the AAPF’s <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20210813210238/https://www.aapf.org/crtsummerschool" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CRT Summer School event</a>. She lectured on racism in the United States and was <a href="https://twitter.com/JossTGreene/status/1425852304046104585" target="_blank" rel="noopener">quoted by Joss Greene</a>, an attendee and postdoctoral fellow, as stating that “anti-blackness is at the root of antidemocratic projects.” Another attendee quoted Dr. Cho accusing conservatives of “co-opting and commandeering the liberal concept of academic freedom to be used as a sword and shield, in terms of ideological warfare.” Dr. Cho was also quoted asserting that today’s bans on CRT in schools are precursors to “school vouchers and white segregation academies.” The Twitter user has since made their profile private.

Dr. Cho has been featured many times as a “legal scholar”  on a Q&amp;A website titled, <a href="https://www.racepowerofanillusion.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Race: The Power of an Illusion”</a> discussing several subjects. Dr. Cho <a href="https://www.racepowerofanillusion.org/qa/why-do-recent-immigrants-do-better-african-americans-socioeconomically" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accuses conservatives of pushing</a> a false distinction, not only between race and ethnicity, but also immigrants vs. African Americans. She criticizes conservatives by arguing that they use Asian Americans as the example for why affirmative action is not necessary for other minorities.

<a href="https://www.racepowerofanillusion.org/qa/are-reparations-slavery-appropriate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In another Q&amp;A</a>, Dr. Cho details the necessity for reparations for slavery. She writes that she thinks reparations are absolutely necessary. She believes that both individual payments and payments to African American institutions are crucial to make things “equitable”.

John Cheney-Lippold

<a href="https://lsa.umich.edu/ac/people/faculty/jchl.html">John Cheney-Lippold</a> is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan whose work focuses on Internet Studies, Cultural Studies, and Algorithm Studies.
Lippold made<a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=11317"> headlines</a> for his blatant discrimination against a pro-Israel student at Michigan. After agreeing to the initial request, he refused to write a letter of recommendation for her to study abroad in Israel due to his adherence to the academic boycott of the nation. In a now released email exchange, Lippold replied to the student’s request:
“As you may know, many university departments have pledged an academic boycott against Israel in support of Palestinians living in Palestine. This boycott includes writing letters of recommendations for students to study there.” 
In a<a href="https://nypost.com/2018/09/20/professor-draws-ire-after-declining-to-help-student-study-in-israel/"> statement</a> released by <a href="https://palestinelegal.org/">Palestine Legal</a>, he only proceeded to double-down and even compared Israel to Apartheid-era South Africa:
“I support the Palestinian boycott call because I am appalled at Israel’s continuing violation of Palestinian rights, and our government’s support for those violations&#8230;If a student had wanted to do a study abroad at an institution in Apartheid South Africa, I would have declined to write a letter for her as well.”

<a href="http://fordschool.umich.edu/faculty/betsey-stevenson">Betsey Stevenson </a>is an associate professor of Economics at the University of Michigan. Stevenson made the list after making the claim that the lack of women found in Economics textbooks is the reason so few women pursue Economics as a major. In a study she conducted with Hanna Zlotnick, she found that 77% of people found in the leading Economics textbooks were male.

<a href="https://lsa.umich.edu/history/people/faculty/jrcole.html">Dr. Juan Cole</a> is a Professor of History at the University of Michigan. He believes right-wing Jews and an “Islamophobic network” were “a key influence” to the shooting that killed nine people at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C. He has also argued that recognizing Israel as a state is racist.

<a href="https://lsa.umich.edu/stats/people/faculty/fink.html">Nadiya Fink</a> is a statistics lecturer at University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. After a conservative activist satirically changed his preferred pronoun to "His Majesty", Fink threatened to punish any student who mocked the preferred pronoun system.

<a href="https://lsa.umich.edu/comm/people/regular-faculty/sdoug.html">Dr. Susan Douglas</a>, a professor at University of Michigan, publicized her hate for Republicans in an article from In These Times. She says, “I hate Republicans. I can’t stand the thought of having to spend the next two years watching Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Ted Cruz, Darrell Issa or any of the legions of other blowhards denying climate change, thwarting immigration reform or championing fetal ‘personhood.’”

Charles H.F. Davis is an Assistant Professor at the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education at the University of Michigan. He previously taught at the University of Southern California. According to his university biography, Davis’s research and teaching focuses on, “race and racism, systems of oppression, and structures of domination in U.S. higher education and its social contexts.”

Davis previously rose to notoriety in 2017 for a series of <a href="https://twitter.com/hfdavis?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor">racially inflammatory tweets</a>. As reported by <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/usc-professor-defends-tweet-promoting-violence-whiteness/">The College Fix</a>, he tweeted that “whiteness” must be destroyed and alluded to the necessity of violence in confronting it.

The background photo of his Twitter account at the time featured a black woman pointing a gun at a pig that clearly represents a caricature of a police officer. 

When contacted <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/usc-professor-defends-tweet-promoting-violence-whiteness/">The College Fix</a> over his remarks, Davis responded, “To be clear, I am decidedly against whiteness as a social and political ideology, which systematically marginalize and disenfranchise people of color from opportunities for societal advancement. In addition, I am against the institution of policing, which has historically and continuously enacted racial terror, sexual violence, and economic exploitation against racial minorities, women and LGBTQ communities, and economically disadvantaged working-class people.”

When asked if any of these tweets might make students uncomfortable, Davis <a href="http://hfdavis.com/blog/an-interview-with-a-conservative">responded</a> that any discomfort experienced by his white students is a result of their “white fragility.” 

Davis had previously advocated for the right of students to disrupt conservative speakers on campus. In the wake of <a href="https://badgerherald.com/news/2016/11/17/conservative-pundit-ben-shapiro-lectures-to-turbulent-crowd-on-safe-spaces-freedom-of-speech/">protesters heckling</a> Ben Shapiro’s lecture at the University of Wisconsin Madison, school regents approved a <a href="https://www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-university-of-wisconsin-protest-punishment-20171006-story.html">policy</a> to suspend or expel students that purposefully disrupt events. Davis’s subsequent <a href="https://www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-university-of-wisconsin-protest-punishment-20171006-story.html">op-ed</a> at Inside Higher Ed argued that this only reinforced white supremacy: “To be clear, it is a decision that reinforces institutionalized white supremacy -- and other oppressive forms of systemic power.” Davis argues that conservative speakers like Shapiro have hijacked the First Amendment to push “white supremacist agendas.”  

Davis’s website, which is listed by the University of Michigan on his biography, <a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/51ab9fa0e4b06a38e604420a/t/5edaf71d1ab0434751b2e960/1591408468354/HF+Davis+%E2%80%93%C2%A0EPK.pdf">advertises </a>that he has taught the issues of “ race, racism, and systemic oppression in education and society” to over “7,000 students, educators and institutional leaders.” The <a href="http://hfdavis.com/">home page</a> of the site also features links to organizations that advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement, abolishing the police, and boycotting the nation of Israel.

Professor Silke-Maria Weineck wrote a September 6, 2022, op-ed for The Chronicle of Higher Education titled <a href="https://archive.ph/GBDq6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Colleges Must Stop Trying to Appease the Right.”</a> The article begins by criticizing a university dean who had a conversation with a professor after a parent complained about one of the professor’s tweets. Weineck calls on her peers to stand up to Republicans, writing:
“Under the circumstances, it is not merely acceptable to denounce the GOP - clearly, loudly, profanely. It is our ethical and professional duty.” 
She goes on to say that the Republican Party has a “longstanding contempt for knowledge and expertise” in the fields of “history, public health, climate change, or ecology.”

She argues that colleges have an obligation to protect their faculty, staff, and students, saying:
“They must clearly insist on our people’s right not to be forced into pregnancy, not to be demeaned or disadvantaged due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, and to have all of their histories studied and told.” 
She finishes her opinion piece by quoting Ohio Republican Senate candidate J.D. Vance when he said that “professors are the enemy.” Weineck responds: “He is correct. He is our enemy, and we must be his. I welcome his hatred. As a modest start, I suggest that we no longer respond to Republicans who complain about professional tweets with anything other than a short form letter. I would be happy to draft it.”

This is not Weineck’s first anti-Republican opinion piece. In May 2021, she wrote another op-ed for The Chronicle of Higher Education titled <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20210520190416/https://www.chronicle.com/article/the-tenure-denial-of-nikole-hannah-jones-is-craven-and-dangerous" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“The Tenure Denial of Nikole Hannah-Jones is Craven and Dangerous.”</a> She argues that Nikole Hannah-Jones was denied tenure at the University of North Carolina because of Republicans and the “governors and trustees within the UNC system in particular.” She writes:
“Universities hire faculty members who work on the history of racism and share Hannah-Jones’s broad convictions and investments all the time, and regents, trustees, and governors do not get involved. Nikole Hannah-Jones is different because she drove the conversation into places where it could not be belittled or contained.” 
Dr. Weineck believes <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/nikolehannahjones" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hannah-Jones</a> is overqualified for tenure, saying: “The woman has a Pulitzer Prize and a MacArthur grant, and she spearheaded what is probably the most effective public-history effort in the history of the country, “The 1619 Project.””

The 1619 Project, originally a series of essays published in the New York Times and later developed into a book, “aims to reframe the country’s history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of our national narrative.” It argues that America was not founded in 1776 but in 1619, when the first enslaved Americans were brought to the Virginia colony, now the state of Virginia.

Weineck states that: “across the country, the GOP and its lickspittles have decided, in part precisely because of the success of “The 1619 Project,” that the correct way to address systemic racism is not only to deny its existence but to legally mandate this denial.” She argues that “universities are imperfect institutions, far more conservative than their reputation, and not nearly the force for good they imagine themselves to be.”

<a href="https://lsa.umich.edu/soc/people/faculty/erin-cech.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Erin Cech</a> is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Associate Professor by courtesy in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan.

Professor Cech authored a study titled “<a href="https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.abo1558" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The intersectional privilege of white able-bodied heterosexual men in STEM</a>.” In this paper, she <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/professor-studies-intersectional-privilege-of-white-able-bodied-heterosexual-men-in-stem/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">compared the experiences of “white able-bodied heterosexual men (WAHM)”</a> in the STEM fields to 31 other intersectional groups. Her study concludes that “...members of all other 31 intersectional groups experience significantly less social inclusion in their STEM jobs on average than WAHM experience….”

In a <a href="https://news.umich.edu/privileges-confirmed-for-straight-white-men-working-in-stem/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michigan News</a> press release, Cech said: “The findings show the importance of encouraging white men to recogize the privileges they may have access to, and commit to serving as allies to fight for change at the organizational and structural level.”
“It is everyone’s responsibility - advantaged and disadvantaged alike - to fight for more equitable climates and practices in STEM.”  
Cech wrote a study in June 2017 titled “<a href="https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/2378023117712395" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rugged Meritocratists: The Role of Overt Bias and the Meritocratic Ideology in Trump Supporters’ Opposition to Social Justice Efforts</a>.” Her work aimed to determine “whether and why Trump supporters are more likely than other Americans to oppose social justice efforts.”

She concludes that “Trump supporters are indeed more opposed to social justice efforts.” She says that Trump supporters “express greater overt race, class, and gender bias, yet this bias does not explain their opposition”:
“Rather, many Trump supporters are “rugged meritocratists” who oppose these efforts because they believe U.S. society is already fair. To expand support for social justice efforts, rugged meritocratists must first be convinced that systemic inequalities still exist.”

<a href="https://soe.umich.edu/directory/faculty-staff/deborah-loewenberg-ball" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deborah Loewenberg Ball</a> is the William H. Payne Collegiate Professor of Education and former dean of the School of Education at the University of Michigan. According to her university profile, Ball says her research focuses on “leveraging the power of teaching to disrupt racism, marginalization, and inequity.”

Bell was featured in a July 2021 episode of the <a href="https://gsehd.gwu.edu/edfix-ts-ep23" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EdFix Podcast</a>, where she argued that mathematics is racist. She claims that math is a “Harbor for whiteness” and said,
“...what’s also very difficult is to get people to see how the very nature of the knowledge and who’s produced it, and what has counted as Mathematics is itself also dominated by whiteness and by racism.” 
To provide an example of this racism, she states:
“This is really important because we do see patterns about who succeeds in Math in this country and it’s overwhelmingly white and Asian. It’s overwhelmingly still male once you get on with Mathematics.” 
She continues:
“So how about noticing that and being willing to open ourselves up to the question of how racism has permeated Mathematics and the way it’s represented in school and take the time to unfold that and to figure out what that would mean for looking at a better way of a curriculum and the pedagogy of Math in school.” 
Professor Ball wrote a March 2021 op-ed for the Detroit Free Press titled, <a href="https://www.freep.com/story/opinion/contributors/2021/03/21/why-school-isnt-safe-place-every-child/6937638002/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Why school isn’t a safe place for every child.”</a> In this article, she argues that schools are often unsafe for children of color and that COVID provided an opportunity for “many Black and Brown children to be out of the white gaze of punishment and deficit views” which “was a welcome respite from fear and control.”

She also argues that the curriculum in schools has been “unsafe,” writing:
“The images, knowledge, people and values that permeate history, science and art, as well as mathematics, language and text are harmful. They distort the experiences of Indigenous people, of Black communities and of immigrant groups. They reinscribe whiteness, heteronormativity and English as normal and desirable.” 
She concludes her op-ed by stating that schools need to “take a fuller view of the safety needed to dismantle anti-Blackness and white supremacy in our educational systems” as students and staff return to in-person schooling.

According to his university profile, his work focuses on strategies to address the root causes of racial inequities.

Fleming is outspoken about his pro-choice beliefs. In a University of Michigan News article titled, <a href="https://news.umich.edu/supreme-court-overturns-roe-v-wade-u-m-experts-available-to-discuss/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade: U-M experts available to discuss,”</a> he states:
“Abortion is health care and part of a person’s right to choose if and when to have a child. Overturning Roe v. Wade will cause harms that are entirely preventable and increase inequities we see in health and other outcomes.”

<a href="https://michigan.law.umich.edu/faculty-and-scholarship/our-faculty/barbara-l-mcquade" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Barbara McQuade</a> is a professor at the University of Michigan Law School. According to her university profile, her interests include criminal law, criminal procedure, national security, data privacy, and civil rights. She was appointed by President Obama and served as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan from 2010 to 2017.

McQuade has been outspoken about her belief that former President Trump should be charged with manslaughter for the events that took place on January 6, 2021. On July 16, she wrote an op-ed for MSNBC titled, <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/did-trump-commit-manslaughter-jan-6-committee-doj-should-find-n1297314" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“The case for charging Trump with manslaughter.”</a>

In this article, McQuade argues that the “loss of life was predictable in light of the size of the mob, their emotional state and their use of force.” She believes Trump knew the crowd was armed and said, “Unlike most members of the public who have no duty to take action to prevent a crime, a president has a constitutional duty to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.””

She concludes her comments by writing:
“Donald Trump once said he could “stand in the middle [of] Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody” and not lose any voters. Can he also cause the deaths of five people and not lose his liberty?” 
She tweeted a link to her op-ed on October 25, 2022 with the caption, “Here is my analysis of involuntary manslaughter charges for Trump. This theory is probably a bridge too far for DOJ, but failing to a [sic] call off the mob when he knew they were armed and angry makes the resulting deaths at the Capitol reasonably forseeable.”

McQuade is also outspoken about her beliefs on gun control. In an <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/america-s-gun-infatuation-threat-supreme-court-could-make-it-n1283362" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MSNBC op-ed,</a> she wrote “America’s infatuation with guns is a national security threat.” She states: “I was one of 30 former national security officials to sign on to an amicus brief arguing that unrestricted access to concealable firearms poses a great threat to public safety.” She ended the piece by claiming, “...like all rights, those described in Second Amendment are not absolute.”

In a TIME article, titled <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220204035713/https://time.com/6122142/kyle-rittenhouse-verdict/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“The Kyle Rittenhouse Verdict Makes Us All Less Safe,”</a> she poses the question:
“Looking at this case broadly, how can it be that our laws permit a teenager to escape criminal liability after he travels from out of state to a scene of civil unrest, violates a curfew specifically designed to keep people off the streets, and ostentatiously carries with him an assault weapon that results in deadly harm?” 
She goes on to argue that Rittenhouse will become the “poster boy for right-wing extremists and politicians.” She justifies this statement by saying, “Rep. Matt Gaetz has already stated that Rittenhouse would make a good congressional intern.”

She claims the Rittenhouse verdict will “be a larger message to society that we should embrace vigilante justice” and will “promote irresponsible use of assault weapons under the banner of the Second Amendment.” Therefore, she believes the verdict makes everyone “less safe.”

<a href="https://lsa.umich.edu/content/michigan-lsa/wgs/en/people/core-faculty/akirklan.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anna Kirkland</a>, J.D., Ph.D., is the Kim Lane Scheppele Collegiate Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Michigan. She also served as the Director of the Institute for Research on Women and Gender (IRWG) from 2017 to 2022.

Professor Kirkland is very outspoken about her pro-choice beliefs. In response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, she was featured in a <a href="https://news.umich.edu/supreme-court-overturns-roe-v-wade-u-m-experts-available-to-discuss/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Michigan News</a> article titled “Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade: U-M experts available to discuss.”

She stated that “abortion access is about to be dramatically restricted across large swaths of the United States.” She said that people will be forced “to give birth against their will” and that some “will die from pregnancy complications.” She added:
“This is by far the most radical right-wing majority we have ever seen on the Supreme Court, and so I am wondering whether and when they will take further steps like declaring that a fetus is a person, making all abortions illegal no matter what the state would like to do, or removing rights of access to same-sex marriage or contraception.” 
Kirkland has also been outspoken about her beliefs that everyone should get the COVID vaccine. In a Michigan Advance article titled, <a href="https://michiganadvance.com/2021/03/02/how-the-anti-covid-vaccine-movement-mobilized-in-michigan-before-anyone-ever-got-their-first-shot/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“How the anti-COVID vaccine movement mobilized in Michigan before anyone ever got their first shot,”</a> she states:
“I do see some new things [about the anti-vaccine movement], and that is the move from a feminized, mother-focused, natural living focus to this highly masculinized, anti-mask, gun rights mobilization.”
She further argued that the anti-vaccine movement has an “inner core that’s probably realistically unreachable” and is dominated by “overwhelming whiteness” and “fundamentally led by the right-wing.”

<a href="https://lsa.umich.edu/hssp/people/professional---office-staff/lhharris.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Lisa Harris</a> is the F. Wallace and Janet Jeffries Collegiate Professor of Reproductive Health, and Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Michigan. According to <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/post-roe-task-force-launched-by-university-of-michigan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The College Fix</a>, Harris is also the medical director for a regional Planned Parenthood.

Dr. Harris performs late-term abortions in which the baby is brutally dismembered. <a href="https://www.liveaction.org/news/abortionist-lisa-harris-dismembering-sad/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Live Action</a> reports that in an article written for <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18772087/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Reproductive Health Matters</a>, Dr. Harris recounts performing an abortion while pregnant with her own daughter. She writes:
“[I] was more interested than usual in seeing the fetal parts when I was done, since they would so closely resemble those of my own fetus. I went about doing the procedure as usual, removed the laminaria I had placed earlier and confirmed I had adequate dilation. I … picked up my forceps and began to remove the fetus in parts, as I always did. I felt lucky that this one was already in the breech position - it would make grasping small parts (legs and arms) a little easier.” 
“With my first pass of the forceps, I grasped an extremity and began to pull it down. I could see a small foot hanging from the teeth of my forceps. With a quick tug, I separated the leg. Precisely at that moment, I felt a kick - a fluttery “thump, thump” in my own uterus. It was one of the first times I felt fetal movement. There was a leg and foot in my forceps, and a “thump, thump” in my abdomen. Instantly, tears were streaming from my eyes … Doing second trimester abortions did not get easier after my pregnancy; in fact, dealing with little infant parts of my born baby only made dealing with dismembered fetal parts sadder.” 
In a <a href="https://www.liveaction.org/news/abortionist-lisa-harris-dismembering-sad/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video recorded at the National Abortion Federation convention</a>, Dr. Harris was asked a question from a pro-choice activist about pictures of aborted babies. She responded:
“[I] actually think that we should be less about denying the reality of those images. More about acknowledging, that yeah, that’s kind of true. … we might actually both agree that there’s violence in here, ask me why I come to work every day. Let’s just give them all, the violence, it’s a person, killing - let’s just give them all that.” 
In June 2022, the University of Michigan announced the <a href="https://record.umich.edu/articles/university-creates-task-force-to-focus-on-abortion-access/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">creation of a task force to focus on abortion access.</a> Dr. Harris, who will co-chair the group, said in a press release that she is concerned about an increased birthrate in the post-Roe era:
“We can also expect to see an increase in the birthrate in the state - some estimates are as high as a 17% increase - and it is not clear that we or others have capacity to manage a dramatic shift like this.”

<a href="https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/urology/dee-ellen-fenner-md" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Dee Ellen Fenner</a> is the Director of Gynecology, the Director of Surgical Services, and a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Fenner is co-chair of the University of Michigan’s task force on abortion-care access. The goal of the task force is to make “plans to manage in a post-Roe v. Wade environment, by determining how an abortion ban could affect clinical care, educational instruction, student health and more.”

In a <a href="https://record.umich.edu/articles/university-creates-task-force-to-focus-on-abortion-access/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university press release,</a> Dr. Fenner said:
“Existing racial disparities in health outcomes and in student educational outcomes will likely be exacerbated. Overturning Roe is a health, gender and racial equity issue. We need careful planning to mitigate its most serious potential effects.” 
An October 2022 article titled, <a href="https://record.umich.edu/articles/task-force-focused-on-abortion-access-continues-planning/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Task force focused on abortion access continues planning,”</a> says that the task force has been “closely monitoring the multiple court rulings that have made abortion status in the state uncertain over recent months. Dr. Fenner states:

John Comaroff is the Hugh K. Foster <a href="https://anthropology.fas.harvard.edu/people/john-comaroff" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of African and African-American Studies and Anthropology</a> at Harvard University. His teaching and research interests include crime, policing, and democracy in postcolonial politics. 
In June 2022, Comaroff was <a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2022/6/29/comaroff-amended-complaint/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">featured in The Harvard Crimson</a> as an alleged perpetrator of sexual assault crimes on campus. The Crimson said, “Comaroff is facing new allegations of sexual harassment in an <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.mad.242149/gov.uscourts.mad.242149.35.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">amended lawsuit</a> that includes accounts of unwanted touching, kissing, and sexual remarks during his three decades as a faculty member at the University of Chicago, where he allegedly engaged in multiple sexual relationships with students.”
When accusations resulted in a lawsuit against the college, Comaroff was placed on unpaid administrative leave in January. Comaroff’s colleagues immediately rallied in support with nearly 40 faculty and staff adding signatures to <a href="https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.thecrimson.com/pdf/2022/02/04/1353924.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an open letter</a>. The letter states:
“Harvard’s Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) found that Comaroff had ‘engaged in verbal conduct that violated the FAS Sexual and Gender-Based Harassment Policy and the FAS Profesional Conduct Policy. Although Comaroff had been accused by three students, only one allegation was found by Harvard&#8217;s ODR to have any merit.”
“We the undersigned know John Comaroff to be an excellent colleague, advisor and committed university citizen who has for five decades trained and advised hundreds of Ph.D. students of diverse backgrounds…We are dismayed by Harvard’s sanctions against him and concerned about its effects on our ability to advise our own students.”
By February 10 — when details of the lawsuit became public — the <a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2022/2/10/comaroff-faculty-letter-retraction/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crimson reported</a>, “Almost all of the Harvard professors who signed an open letter that questioned the results of misconduct investigations into professor Comaroff have retracted their support.” In turn, “some of Harvard’s most prominent scholars signed a letter of retraction” and one sent an email to recant their support.
According to the <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2022/02/10/harvard-sexual-misconduct-comaroff/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washinton Post</a>, “The reversal came after three Harvard graduate students filed a lawsuit accusing the university of ignoring sexual harassment allegations against Comaroff…Attorneys for Comaroff said he categorically denies ever harassing or retaliating against any student…The lawsuit characterized Harvard’s response to complaints as ‘deliberate indifference…’”
As of September, Comaroff was <a href="https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2022/09/09/accused-harasser-john-comaroff-returns-harvard" target="_blank" rel="noopener">removed from administrative leave</a> and allowed back in the classroom. The lawsuit against Harvard and Comaroff is ongoing.

John O. Brennan is a <a href="https://intelligencestudies.utexas.edu/about/leadership" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Distinguished Scholar</a> and <a href="https://www.strausscenter.org/person/john-o-brennan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senior Advisor to the Intelligence Studies Project</a> at the <a href="https://www.utexas.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Texas-Austin</a>. Brennan also serves as a <a href="https://www.centeronnationalsecurity.org/fellows#john-o-brennan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Distinguished Fellow for Global Security</a> for the Center on National Security at <a href="https://www.fordham.edu/site/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fordham University</a>.
Prior to both roles, Brennan served as the <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/John-Brennan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Director of The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) </a>from 2013 to 2017. His service and post-CIA career have been marred with controversies, including allegations of spying on political opponents, overseas clandestine operations, and incendiary comments towards conservatives and libertarians.
In 2014, the CIA was <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2014/03/11/289085076/feinsteins-cia-outrage-splits-senate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused by California Senator Dianne Feinstein of illegally accessing the computers of Senate staffers</a> investigating the use of “enhanced interrogation” against detainees. <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2014/03/brennan-denies-claims-cia-hacked-senate-computers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brennan initially denied the allegations</a>, stating that, “Nothing could be further from the truth.” Brennan was later forced to apologize when an Inspector General report found that <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/technology/213933-cia-admits-to-wrongly-hacking-into-senate-computers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senate computers were in fact “hacked” by CIA officials</a>.
Brennan has been accused of arming radical Islamists during the Syrian Civil War. As The American Conservative documents, <a href="https://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/how-america-armed-terrorists-in-syria/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The CIA—under Brennan&#8217;s direction—played a significant role in supplying deadly weapons to al-Qaeda affiliates</a> in an attempt to topple the Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad.
In his final years as CIA director, Brennan played a prominent role in what later became known as “Russiagate.” During the 2016 general election, intelligence agencies attempted to determine whether or not then-presidential candidate Donald Trump coordinated with the Russian Government to <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/288883-wikileaks-posts-20000-dnc-emails" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hack and release sensitive emails from the Democratic National Committee</a>. Special Counsel Robert Mueller later found that there was <a href="https://www.dw.com/en/mueller-report-found-no-evidence-of-trump-russia-collusion-justice-dept/a-48046468" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no evidence of any coordination between the Trump Campaign and the Russian Government</a>.
While investigating Trump, John Brennan relied on allegations in what became known as the “Steele Dossier”— <a href="https://www.npr.org/2017/08/23/545289362/researcher-behind-unverified-trump-dossier-meets-senate-investigators" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a series of salacious allegations and potentially compromising information against Donald Trump</a> — compiled by British Intelligence agent Christopher Steele. The <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/09/steeles-dossier-source-was-a-suspected-russian-spy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">source for the dossier was later found to be a suspected Russian Spy,</a> who likely <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/453384-fbis-spreadsheet-puts-a-stake-through-the-heart-of-steeles-dossier" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exaggerated or falsified his information</a>.
Despite <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/442944-fbis-steele-story-falls-apart-false-intel-and-media-contacts-were-flagged" target="_blank" rel="noopener">agents flagging the information as false</a>, the Steele Dossier was later used as the basis to <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2019/12/09/ig-report-confirms-no-fisa-warrant-on-carter-page-without-steele-dossier/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtain warrants to surveil members of the Trump campaign</a>. Initially pushing to include the information, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2019/12/09/brennan-lied-about-not-including-steele-dossier-in-intelligence-community-assessment-on-2016-russian-election-interference/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brennan later lied under congressional oath, stating he did not include the Steele Dossier in intelligence briefings</a>.
Declassified, handwritten notes from Brennan further show that he assisted in <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/dni-releases-cia-documents-hillary-204337457.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">efforts to tie the Trump campaign to Russia</a> to benefit the Hillary Clinton campaign. This is consistent with testimony accusing <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2020/05/12/fox-news-john-brennan-russia-hillary-clinton/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brennan of suppressing intelligence that the Russian Government wanted Hillary Clinton to win</a> the 2016 presidential election.
Brennan continued to publically attack President Trump after the 2016 election, accusing <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/08/19/brennan_on_sunday_i_stand_by_accusing_president_trump_of_treason.html#!" target="_blank" rel="noopener">him of “treason” against the United States on behalf of Russia</a>. Brennan <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2017/05/25/ex-cia-director-john-brennan-ive-seen-no-evidence-collusion-russia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admits that he has seen no evidence that Donald Trump colluded</a> with the Russian government to win the 2016 election.
Following the Capital Hill riots, John Brennan <a href="https://twitter.com/tomselliott/status/1352007118392582148?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1352007118392582148%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwearechange.org%2Feven-libertarians-john-brennan-issues-list-of-ideologies-biden-intel-community-should-go-after%2F" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has described libertarians as terrorists and white supremacists</a>.

Brennan has admitted in the past that he voted for the Communist Party in past elections. According to CNN, Brennan <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2016/09/15/politics/john-brennan-cia-communist-vote/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recounts</a> that he admitted to voting for the Communist Party Candidate, Gus Hall, in the 1976 general election. Brennan is reported <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2016/09/15/politics/john-brennan-cia-communist-vote/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stating</a> that voting for Hall was his way of “signaling his unhappiness of the system.”

John O. Brennan is a <a href="https://intelligencestudies.utexas.edu/about/leadership" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Distinguished Scholar</a> and <a href="https://www.strausscenter.org/person/john-o-brennan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senior Advisor to the Intelligence Studies Project</a> at the <a href="https://www.utexas.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Texas-Austin</a>. Brennan also serves as a <a href="https://www.centeronnationalsecurity.org/fellows#john-o-brennan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Distinguished Fellow for Global Security</a> for the Center on National Security at <a href="https://www.fordham.edu/site/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fordham University</a>.

Prior to both roles, Brennan served as the <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/John-Brennan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Director of The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) </a>from 2013 to 2017. His service and post-CIA career have been marred with controversies, including allegations of spying on political opponents, overseas clandestine operations, and incendiary comments towards conservatives and libertarians.

In 2014, the CIA was <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2014/03/11/289085076/feinsteins-cia-outrage-splits-senate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused by California Senator Dianne Feinstein of illegally accessing the computers of Senate staffers</a> investigating the use of “enhanced interrogation” against detainees. <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2014/03/brennan-denies-claims-cia-hacked-senate-computers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brennan initially denied the allegations</a>, stating that, “Nothing could be further from the truth.” Brennan was later forced to apologize when an Inspector General report found that <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/technology/213933-cia-admits-to-wrongly-hacking-into-senate-computers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senate computers were in fact “hacked” by CIA officials</a>.

Brennan has been accused of arming radical Islamists during the Syrian Civil War. As The American Conservative documents, <a href="https://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/how-america-armed-terrorists-in-syria/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The CIA—under Brennan's direction—played a significant role in supplying deadly weapons to al-Qaeda affiliates</a> in an attempt to topple the Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad.

In his final years as CIA director, Brennan played a prominent role in what later became known as “Russiagate.” During the 2016 general election, intelligence agencies attempted to determine whether or not then-presidential candidate Donald Trump coordinated with the Russian Government to <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/288883-wikileaks-posts-20000-dnc-emails" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hack and release sensitive emails from the Democratic National Committee</a>. Special Counsel Robert Mueller later found that there was <a href="https://www.dw.com/en/mueller-report-found-no-evidence-of-trump-russia-collusion-justice-dept/a-48046468" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no evidence of any coordination between the Trump Campaign and the Russian Government</a>.

While investigating Trump, John Brennan relied on allegations in what became known as the “Steele Dossier”— <a href="https://www.npr.org/2017/08/23/545289362/researcher-behind-unverified-trump-dossier-meets-senate-investigators" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a series of salacious allegations and potentially compromising information against Donald Trump</a> — compiled by British Intelligence agent Christopher Steele. The <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/09/steeles-dossier-source-was-a-suspected-russian-spy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">source for the dossier was later found to be a suspected Russian Spy,</a> who likely <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/453384-fbis-spreadsheet-puts-a-stake-through-the-heart-of-steeles-dossier" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exaggerated or falsified his information</a>.

Despite <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/442944-fbis-steele-story-falls-apart-false-intel-and-media-contacts-were-flagged" target="_blank" rel="noopener">agents flagging the information as false</a>, the Steele Dossier was later used as the basis to <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2019/12/09/ig-report-confirms-no-fisa-warrant-on-carter-page-without-steele-dossier/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtain warrants to surveil members of the Trump campaign</a>. Initially pushing to include the information, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2019/12/09/brennan-lied-about-not-including-steele-dossier-in-intelligence-community-assessment-on-2016-russian-election-interference/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brennan later lied under congressional oath, stating he did not include the Steele Dossier in intelligence briefings</a>.

Declassified, handwritten notes from Brennan further show that he assisted in <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/dni-releases-cia-documents-hillary-204337457.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">efforts to tie the Trump campaign to Russia</a> to benefit the Hillary Clinton campaign. This is consistent with testimony accusing <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2020/05/12/fox-news-john-brennan-russia-hillary-clinton/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brennan of suppressing intelligence that the Russian Government wanted Hillary Clinton to win</a> the 2016 presidential election.

Brennan continued to publically attack President Trump after the 2016 election, accusing <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/08/19/brennan_on_sunday_i_stand_by_accusing_president_trump_of_treason.html#!" target="_blank" rel="noopener">him of “treason” against the United States on behalf of Russia</a>. Brennan <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2017/05/25/ex-cia-director-john-brennan-ive-seen-no-evidence-collusion-russia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admits that he has seen no evidence that Donald Trump colluded</a> with the Russian government to win the 2016 election.

On his personal Twitter account, Brennan demands that conservatives need to publically recant their support of Donald Trump and admit that it was wrong to support the President of the United States.

In an interview with MSNBC, Brennan <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/deadline-white-house/watch/fmr-cia-dir-brennan-republicans-will-continue-to-gaslight-the-country-101798469719" target="_blank" rel="noopener">remarks</a> that many conservatives make him “embarrassed to be a white man.”

Brennan has admitted in the past that he voted for the Communist Party in past elections. According to CNN, Brennan <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2016/09/15/politics/john-brennan-cia-communist-vote/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recounts</a> that he admitted to voting for the Communist Party Candidate, Gus Hall, in the 1976 general election. Brennan is reported <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2016/09/15/politics/john-brennan-cia-communist-vote/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stating</a> that voting for Hall was his way of “signaling his unhappiness of the system.”

According to Campus Reform, the tweets followed a contentious battle over budgets and policy changes for the University of Wisconsin system.

Speaking before the UN, Hill called for a &#8220;free Palestine from the river to the sea, &#8221; which are sentiments widely understood as a call for the elimination of the state of Israel and replacement with an Arab state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.
