China is the greatest existential threat that the United States currently faces. Through military, governmental, and financial fronts, the authoritarian Chinese government seeks to supplant the United States as the world’s sole superpower. None of their tactics may be more perfidious than the placement of Confucius Institutes on campuses across the country. Currently, Confucius Institutes operate at American universities, high schools, and even elementary schools, serving as focal points of China’s espionage against our country. China has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to indoctrinate students with state-sponsored, communist propaganda, matched by university funds that are enabled by your hard-earned tax dollars.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/faculty/ciccariello-maher-george.php">Dr. George Ciccariello-Maher</a> is a Visiting Scholar of Decolonizing Humanities and Modern Languages and Literatures at the College of William and Mary. He previously taught in the Department of History and Politics at Drexel University.

From the College of William and Mary's website, his work at the Decolonizing Humanities Project is <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/decoloniality/index.php">described</a> as exploring, “how colonization, modernity, capitalism, and, most recently, neoliberalism has displaced an array of modes of living, thinking and being.  Decoloniality reveals “the dark side of modernity” and how it is built “on the backs” of “others.”

Ciccarello first came to notoriety for his racially inflammatory statements on twitter. On Christmas of 2016, he <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/philly/news/Drexel-officials-Professor-George-Ciccariello-Mahers-White-Genocide-tweet-was-utterly-reprehensible.html">tweeted</a> out,

“All I want for Christmas is White Genocide,”

and,

“To clarify: when the whites were massacred during the Haitian Revolution, that was a  good thing indeed.”

He also tweeted out,

“Some guy gave up his first-class seat for a uniformed soldier. People are thanking him. I’m trying not to vomit or yell about Mosul.”

When Ciccariello was confronted by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndkvgmGIQHQ">Tucker Carlson</a> over his tweets, he only proceeded to double-down. In the following exchange, he defended the academic veracity of his tweets by claiming, “performance art is scholarship.”

Ciccariello doesn’t shy away from utilizing violence to accomplish his radical beliefs. In an op-ed for <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/05/04/riots_work_wolf_blitzer_and_the_washington_post_completely_missed_the_real_lesson_from_baltimore/">Salon</a>, he praised the riots that had engulfed Baltimore in 2015 in an article titled “Riots Work.” He wrote, “without the threat of insurgency in the streets, no charges would ever have been brought in the murder of Freddie Gray.” Obviously not a proponent of police, Ciccariello openly <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/04/24/we_must_disband_the_police_body_cameras_arent_enough_only_radical_change_will_stop_cops_who_kill/">advocates</a> for the abolishment of police forces, describing them as, “originally slavecatchers.”

When not calling for the disbandment of our law enforcement, Ciccariello is an ardent defender of the socialist regime in Venezuela. He regularly <a href="https://www.counterpunch.org/2013/04/12/thatcher-is-dead-long-live-chavez/">praises</a> Hugo Chavez and has bizarrely <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhYz1owM-uA&amp;feature=youtu.be">claimed</a> that Venezuela does not have corrupt elections.

Ciccariello doesn’t shy away from violent groups as well. In order to fight white-nationalism, Ciccarello called on Americans to embrace the radical group ANTIFA in an interview with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTv_hqjrmi8&amp;feature=youtu.be">Democracy Now</a> following the El Paso mass shooting. Although committed by a stated white nationalist, in the same interview Ciccariello placed the blame on Donald Trump for the deaths, claiming that his rhetoric on immigrants inspired the shooter’s rampage.  Ciccariello made similar accusations in a prior <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTv_hqjrmi8&amp;feature=youtu.be">interview</a> about the Texas Church Massacre, alluding that “whiteness” and Trump’s stoking of white victimhood was to blame for the murders.

Stephen E. Hanson is the Chair of the Confucious Institute in addition to serving as the Vice-Provost for International Affairs and Director of the Reves Center for International Affairs at the College of William and Mary.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/as/americanstudies/graduate/graddirectory/smoot_k.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kelsey Smoot</a> is a PH.D. Candidate in American Studies at the College of William &amp; Mary in Virginia.

In June 2020, Smoot penned an article for <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jun/29/white-people-ally-black-people-sacrifice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Guardian</a> titled, “White people say they want to be an ally to Black people. But are they ready for sacrifice?” In the piece, she argues that white Americans are unwilling to change any of their behaviors or attitudes in a way that would benefit black people. 

The piece was written in the midst of nationwide riots following George Floyd's death. While acknowledging that many of her white friends reached out to offer money and protect her “energy and emotional labor,” Smoot still accuses whites of silence, and therefore compliance, regarding white supremacy: 
“Unfortunately, good deeds will not dismantle systemic oppression. White kindness was unable to spare the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, nor any of the countless other victims of White supremacy in our nation’s history.”
If whites wanted to perform true anti-racist work, Smoot argues, they should be willing to sacrifice future pay raises and close friendships for people of color: 
“Real allyship enacted by White Americans, with a clear objective to make equitable the lived experiences of individuals across racial lines, means a willingness to lose things….Refusing a pay raise at one’s job and insisting that it be reallocated to co-workers of color who are undoubtedly being underpaid. The loss of potentially every close relationship with other White friends and family members who refuse to acknowledge or amend their behaviors that reinforce systemic oppression.”
Smoot concludes that white people will never be willing to sacrifice their privilege, so all she can do is “prepare for another day of navigating White America.”

In another article written from that summer, Smoot <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jul/04/juneteenth-not-the-fourth-of-july-was-the-real-independence-day">announces that she will no longer celebrate the Fourth of July</a>, as it represents an “exclusionary nationalist narrative.” Smoot writes that in adulthood, the idea of the holiday became “untenable” once she learned of America’s oppressive history:
“But as I moved into adulthood, learned the expansive and ongoing history of American imperialism, experienced blatant racism, homophobia, and transphobia, and internalized that my ancestors were held in bondage and considered chattel far beyond the date and year that I was supposed to consider the demarcation of American “freedom”, the idea of celebrating the holiday became untenable.”
Smoot further writes that she cannot celebrate America’s birth as she may be martyred in its current climate:
“In this current climate, as a Black American who is also queer and trans* identified, there is not a day that goes by when I don’t feel fear….I fear that my name might become a hashtag – my death made a viral internet sensation by onlookers recording my final breaths, as my life is taken by someone who swore to serve and protect me.” 
Smoot—<a href="https://queerinsomniac.me/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">who identifies as a “Black, queer, trans-masculine, and non-binary writer</a>”—has even shunned close family members and friends who incorrectly used her pronouns (they-them). In an article written for <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/misgendering-they-them-pronouns-nonbinary_n_6269a65de4b01131b11e407e">HuffPost</a>, Smoot states that she is becoming increasingly intolerant of anyone mistakenly misgendering him, claiming that refusing to do so nullifies her identity. Acknowledging that she will lose the people closest to him, Smoot concludes this is still the proper course of action as “trans and nonbinary people are worth the effort.”

According to her biography, Smoot's research interests encompass “queer studies, race/racism, cultural studies, and social movements.” Smoot further blogs and writes poetry on her personal site, <a href="https://queerinsomniac.me/blog" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Queer Insomniac’s Musings</a>.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/faculty/sheehi-s.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stephen Sheehi</a> is the Sultan Qaboos Eminent Professor of Middle East Studies at the College of William &amp; Mary. Dr. Sheehi also serves as the Faculty Director of the “Decolonizing Humanities Project.”

Although his position falls under the Humanities Department, the <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">official site for the project</a> states the field should not have to justify its “economic or practical values in higher education.” Rather, Sheehi argues that humanities are used for “tooling” students to participate in “irredeemable,” racist systems that perpetuate inequality: 

“The Decolonizing Humanities Project understands that the Humanities are structured by and complicit with the legacies of racism, sexism, patriarchy, settler-colonialism and colonialism.” 

Sheehi then accuses America of being built on land stolen from Native Americans.  The university, he claims, likewise continues to benefit from the labor of “kidnapped and enslaved Africans:”

“Decolonizing Humanities Project seeks to dismantle forms of settler-colonialism and racism, with special attention to anti-black and anti-indigenous racism, and how they continue to structure our lives in the university, Virginia, and the settler-colonial state now known as the United States.“

Sheehi states that higher education further perpetuates racial capitalism in the “settler colonial state known as the United States.” He vows to dismantle settler colonialism and capitalism through a process known as “decoloniality.” 

Under the tab, “<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/decoloniality/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">What is Decoloniality?</a>” Sheehi defines it as the study of the “matrix” of power and oppression created by colonialism. He then claims that colonialism’s effects can still be felt today as modern society was “built on the backs of others.” 

Decoloniality reveals "the dark side of modernity" and how it is built "on the backs" of "others," others that modernity racializes, erases, and/or objectifies. 

Continuing:

“(Decolonialism is) a way to explore colonization, settler-colonialism, racial capitalism (particularly as it grew out, in full racializing force,  with the enslavement of black Africans), modernity, and, most recently, neoliberalism and necrocapitalism and the ways in which they have displaced an array of modes of living, thinking and being in our natural world.”

Dr. Sheehi concludes by calling for the disruption of “settler-colonial logic” and decentering of “hetero-cisnormativity, gender hierarchies, and racial privilege.” 

The web page further lists a myriad of radical groups under the “<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/resources/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Resources</a>” column. One of them—titled, “DecolonizeThisPlace,”—is a violent, Antifa-aligned organization that is led by professor <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/aminhusain" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amin Hussein</a>. A 2020 riot by the group resulted in 13 arrests and $100,000 in damages.

The College Fix <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/whites-should-put-coats-on-ground-for-blacks-to-walk-over-yale-student-government/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">featured Charles in an article</a> titled “Whites should put coats on ground for blacks to walk over: Yale student government.” Charles is quoting saying, 
“‘Black History Month is an important opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the African diaspora across a range of fields—including science, music, literature, art, and leadership. It is a critical part of our efforts to reflect on and address challenges of racism, exclusion, and injustice in our institution and in broader society.’”
A <a href="https://som.yale.edu/story/2023/yale-som-celebrates-black-history-month" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yale press release</a> says, “SOM’s Office of Inclusion and Diversity is collaborating with students, staff, and faculty to offer more than a dozen ways to meaningfully celebrate Black History Month. Programming will focus on sharing experiences and perspectives of the black community.”

<a href="https://provost.yale.edu/people/jason-killheffer">Jason Killheffer</a> is the Assistant Provost of Academic Integrity Programs at Yale University. As part of an undercover operation by James O’Keefe and Project Veritas, Killheffer called the Constitution propaganda. He told an undercover journalist “If your freedom of expression impacts other people’s ability to engage actively in the community, to engage in their education or really take full advantage of everything that the university has to offer, then that’s when things cross that line.” In other words, Killheffer believes that being triggered by a Constitution is a valid reason for the university to step in and possibly prevent distribution.

Daniel Martinez HoSang is <a href="https://politicalscience.yale.edu/people/daniel-hosang" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an Associate Professor</a> of Ethnicity, Race &amp; Migration and American Studies at Yale University. He has written many publications and focuses his work on racism and race in politics. He holds strong opinions about conservatives and has both written and lectured several times on the subject.

Dr. HoSang recently wrote a book with <a href="https://professorwatchlist.org/professor/josephlowndes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Joseph Lowndes</a>, who is also on the Professor Watchlist. The book, titled “<a href="https://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/producers-parasites-patriots" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Producers, Parasites, Patriots: Race and the New Right-Wing Politics of Precarity</a>,” discusses white supremacy in conservative politics. In the book, Dr. HoSang accuses conservatives of being racist and participating in “multiracial white supremacy.”

According to Dr. HoSang, white conservatives work to maintain their economic power while also highlighting and praising minority conservatives in an effort to portray the concept that they aren’t racist.

Dr. HoSang has also recently become involved in K-12 learning. He was one of the founders of an organization in Connecticut called the <a href="https://antiracistteaching.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anti-Racist Teaching and Learning Collective</a>, or ARTLC. The organization works with students and teachers alike to push anti-racism, and in turn, Critical Race Theory, in K-12 schools across Connecticut. In an article for the CT Mirror, Dr. HoSang alleges that “if we want to address racism in society at large, we have to address it in policing, and housing, and health care — but we also need to address it in the 3rd grade music classroom, in the 7th grade social studies classroom.”

Dr. HoSang also leads workshops for K-12 teachers that perpetuate the ideals that racism runs deep in education and teaching across all subjects. He helps teachers create curriculum centered on anti-racism and Critical Race Theory.  In the summers of 2020 and 2021, Dr. HoSang was a core faculty member of the AAPF’s Critical Race Theory Summer School lecture series for teachers and scholars. The program’s purpose is to counter conservative and republican efforts to keep Critical Race Theory out of the classroom.

According to the DailyMail, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11418747/Yale-sophomore-student-20-reveals-hid-attempted-suicide-college-raped.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Paul Hoffman is the psychologist</a> in charge of student mental health at Yale University. Hoffman is at the center of a story involving Yale’s policies that ban suicidal students from campus. 

DailyMail said, “To return to class, [students] must reapply - writing an essay, and sending in letters of recommendation…Those who left for mental health reasons also had to demonstrate to Yale that they’d addressed their problems.”

Hoffman’s <a href="https://medicine.yale.edu/profile/paul-hoffman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university profile</a> says he’s Chief of Mental Health and Counseling, Voluntary Faculty for Departments and Organizations, and the <a href="https://yalehealth.yale.edu/directory/clinicians/paul-hoffman-phd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Director of Mental Health</a> and Counseling for Yale. No further information is available regarding Hoffman’s employment.

After a student attempted suicide, Hoffman attended an unpublicized Zoom call between the student, her parents, and Yale representatives. <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/11/11/yale-suicides-mental-health-withdrawals/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post reported</a>, “In an interview, Hoffman and other Yale officials declined to discuss Yale’s withdrawal policies or specific student cases.”

Washington Post continued, “As soon as the Zoom call with Hoffman ended, hospital staffers handed [the student her cellphone]. She began typing out the email Hoffman had asked her to send.” The email eventually played a role in the student’s expulsion. 

Yale’s <a href="https://yalecollege.yale.edu/policies-procedures/leave-absence-withdrawal-and-reinstatement#:~:text=Any%20student%20may%20voluntarily%20withdraw,activities%2C%20or%20use%20University%20facilities." target="_blank" rel="noopener">mandatory medical withdrawal and reinstatement</a> policy says, 

"Any student may voluntarily withdraw; Yale College also reserves the right to require students to withdraw in certain cases. Students on withdrawal may not stay in residencies on campus, attend classes, participate in extracurricular activities, or use University facilities. They may come to campus only upon receiving prior permission from their residential college dean or the Dean of Student Affairs.”

<a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11418747/Yale-sophomore-student-20-reveals-hid-attempted-suicide-college-raped.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to DailyMail</a>, Hoffman said mandatory medical withdrawals are “very rarely used.” The source also said, “Hoffman said the majority of students are now able to keep therapy appointments within two weeks, and Yale is planning on increasing its mental health resources.”

<a href="https://medicine.yale.edu/psychiatry/psychology/profile/christy_olezeski/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christy Olezeski</a> is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University. She serves as the Director and Co-Founder of the Yale Pediatric Gender Program. 

In a <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/yale-professor-blasted-program-working-3-year-olds-gender-journey" target="_blank" rel="noopener">now-deleted video</a>, Olezeski states, “the Yale gender program, is an interdisciplinary program working with gender-expansive individuals 3-25.” Continuing, she says the program “helps individuals who are questioning their gender identity as transgender or non-binary” and vows to help children on “their gender journey.”

The <a href="https://www.yalemedicine.org/departments/pediatric-gender-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">program’s website</a> claims that surgeries are only preformed on individuals over the age of 18. The website further alleges, “Social transition is the only medically accepted form of gender-affirming care–and the only form of care we provide–for that age group.” 

Continuing it states, “Some youth are exploring their identity. Others know that how they feel inside does not match up with the gender they were assigned at birth. We help sort through these questions.” 

Yale has since deleted the YouTube video in which Olezeski discusses the gender program. She has also made her personal social media pages private.

It is a critical part of our efforts to reflect on and address challenges of racism, exclusion, and injustice in our institution and in broader society.’”

A <a href="https://som.yale.edu/story/2023/yale-som-celebrates-black-history-month" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yale press release</a> says, “SOM’s Office of Inclusion and Diversity is collaborating with students, staff, and faculty to offer more than a dozen ways to meaningfully celebrate Black History Month. Faryha Salim was, until May 2021, a professor at the <a href="https://www.cypresscollege.edu/">Cypress College</a> in California. She was suspended by the college after a video emerged of her disparaging police officers in an exchange with a student following his presentation to the class.
In a video originally <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-professor-berates-student-for-calling-police-heroes">published</a> by the Daily Wire, Cypress freshman Braden Ellis can be seen presenting in a communications class taught by Professor Salim via video conference on why he believes “cancel culture” is so destructive. As part of his speech, Braden cited the attempt to “<a href="https://legalinsurrection.com/2020/06/rioters-now-targeting-paw-patrol/">cancel</a>” the cartoon “Paw Patrol” by left-wing activists for its positive depiction of law enforcement.
As Ellis enters into the Q&amp;A portion of his presentation, Professor Salim repeatedly interrupts and badgers him about his stance on the police. Professor Salim begins her remarks by falsely claiming that police departments first originated out of efforts by Civil War southerners to capture runaway slaves. When Ellis responds that a good majority of officers are heroes due to the difficult nature of their work, Professor Salim claims that many police officers commit “atrocious crimes” and are not prosecuted for them.

On May 2, Rodriguez approached a Students for Life display booth and berated the students manning the booth (see video below): 
“You’re not educating s***. This is f***ing propaganda. This is violent. You’re triggering my students.”
After Rodriguez criticized the students, the male student behind the booth apologized that the display was, according to Rodriguez, triggering her students. Rodriguez responded, “No you’re not [sorry], because you can’t even have a f***ing baby.” Pointing to a fetus model on the table she said, “You don’t even know what this is. Get this s*** the f*** out of here,” and then shoved a briefcase on the table towards the students along with some stacks of pamphlets. Upon doing this, Rodriguez left the booth.

This time…she did not destroy the whole table they had set up. She was stopped when she tried to throw around the materials AGAIN and although she was stopped, she did successfully get copies of each of the pieces of literature. (As opposed to just peacefully taking materials.)” 
Students for Life reports that “SFLA students reported the video of the professor’s first outburst to campus security. The group is still awaiting a response but has been told the issue has been escalated up to the Administration.”

Upon knocking, she yelled from behind her door, “Get the f–k away from my door, or I’m gonna chop you up with this machete!” Moments after Rodriguez made that threat, she opened the door and came out with a machete. Then she put the weapon up to the neck of the reporter briefly (see image below).

He harassed Ivanka Trump on a recent flight while she was flying with her children. He has also previously said he believes a shirt which says "Reagan/Bush" is hate speech.

Jason McCormick is an <a href="https://www.unl.edu/english/docs/cv-mccormick.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">adjunct professor</a> at Southeast Community College - Milford and a lecturer at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. His areas of interest include issues of identity, college composition, and developmental composition course structures. He is currently completing his PhD at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln studying rhetoric and composition. He also enjoys writing fiction and has written contributor pieces for publications such as the Huffington Post.<img class="size-large wp-image-1688 aligncenter" src="https://backend.professorwatchlist.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-26-at-1.14.57-PM.png" alt="" width="502" height="176" />

In 2016, McCormick <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/im-a-liberal-professor-and-my-conservative-students_b_5842031de4b0b93e10f8e201" target="_blank" rel="noopener">penned an article for the Huffington Post</a> titled, “I’m A Liberal Professor And My Conservative Students Terrify Me.” In the article, McCormick outlines how his conservative students terrify him as an adjunct professor because “when they fail, it’s always personal.” He writes that he isn’t worried about his liberal students because they can have open discussions and work through triggers or disagreements together.

His conservative students, however, are a different story. He accuses them of throwing out fake arguments with no validity or proof and being hostile towards anyone who disagrees. He claims he was “terrified not to” give their ideas equal space in the classroom. He alleges that conservative students put their personal egos above respect for others in the classroom or factual arguments.

Besides writing opinion pieces on how “terrifying” conservative students are, he also often takes to Twitter to discuss his disdain for conservatives and his approval of critical race theory. In a tweet from July 2021, McCormick <a href="https://twitter.com/JasonBMcCormick/status/1413471823761592326" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commented on a tweet </a>regarding the University of Nebraska voting to oppose Critical Race Theory. He commented that the regents should “apologize to every student trying to get a job” because the opposition of CRT “makes us all look bad.”

Dr. Gerard Harbison is an <a href="https://chem.unl.edu/gerard-harbison" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Emeritus Professor of Chemistry</a> at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. His research interests include Computational Chemistry and NMR Spectroscopy. He has written several educational and research publications for several journals, including the Journal of Molecular Structure and the Journal of Combinatorial Chemistry.

When Dr. Harbison isn’t researching the origins of isotopomeric polymorphism, you can find him writing for his personal blog, titled, <a href="https://www.blogger.com/profile/06182552979528991484" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Transmillenial</a>. According to his blog, Dr. Harbison identifies as a "millenial, atheist, catholic, feminist, scientist trapped in the body of a much older man.” His blog posts typically perpetuate the same rhetoric - conservatives (and Turning Point USA) are bad.

<a href="http://transmillenial.blogspot.com/2021/10/the-members-of-turning-point-usa-at-unl.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In a blog post from October 29, 2021</a>, Dr. Harbison named all of the members of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Turning Point USA chapter and alleged they played a part in funding actions of “terrorists.” He writes, “Turning Point USA love lists. They have a long-standing list of faculty who have not hewn to the conservative way, either by writing stuff unfavorable to Donald Trump, or teaching things conservatives don't want to hear. So, in the spirit of listing and transparency, these are their current members at UNL.”

<a href="https://polisci.unl.edu/ari-kohen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Ari Kohen</a> is the Schlesinger Professor of Social Justice in the <a href="https://polisci.unl.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Department of Political Science</a> at the <a href="https://www.unl.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Nebraska at Lincoln</a>. According to his University biography, his current research interests include social justice education, technology and racism, and “extremist challenges to liberalism.”

In May of 2019, Dr. Kohen accused members of various TPUSA chapters in the state of Nebraska of being white supremacists. In a post on his personal Twitter account, Dr. Kohen asks why the students and former TPUSA staff pictured are flashing “the same white power symbol” as the Christchurch shooter.

Dr. Kohen is referencing a mass shooting that occurred in Christchurch, New Zealand just a few weeks prior to his tweet. During the March 2019 rampage, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-53861456" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a terrorist killed 51 and injured 41 Muslim members of two separate mosques across the city</a>.

In the left-most photo of the tweet, members of TPUSA chapters can be seen posing for a photo at an event while making an “ok” sign with their hands. Dr. Kohen juxtaposes the photo with a photo of the gunman making a similar gesture.

Many regard the “ok” sign as a euphemism for signaling the phrase “white power.” Despite persistence by members of the media, <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/the-media/2017/12/29/fake-news-daily-mail-uses-4chan-hoax-to-accuse-white-house-intern-of-being-white-supremacist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the “ok” signal’s connection to white supremacy is a myth</a>. The connection is thought to have originated as a prank from the site 4-chan in 2017.

Dubbed “operation o-kkk,” anonymous users were instructed to spam liberal media outlets and social media platforms to claim the “ok” sign is a symbol for “white power.” Users were then instructed to create anonymous, left-leaning accounts to retweet the prank, simulate outrage at the gesture, and further amplify the campaign.

<a href="https://www.adl.org/blog/how-the-ok-symbol-became-a-popular-trolling-gesture" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Even the left-leaning Anti-Defamation League has declared the campaign a “hoax.</a>” Despite being widely regarded as fake, Dr. Kohen still maintains that anyone who flashes the sign is a “white nationalist.”

After he was contacted by various media outlets over his comments, Dr. Kohen only proceeded to double down on his accusations. In a series of tweets, he accuses TPUSA and Breitbart News of “weaponizing the internet” over his remarks and again falsely accuses the students of flashing a “white power” sign.

In the past, Dr. Kohen has repeatedly accused conservatives of harboring white nationalist sentiments and of supporting fascism. In a 2019 post on his personal blog, <a href="https://kohenari.net/post/181589676770#notes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he refers to conservative supporters of President Donald Trump as a “cancer.”</a>

<a href="https://www.unl.edu/wgs/emily-kazyak" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Emily Kazyak</a> is an Associate Professor for the Women’s &amp; Gender Studies Program at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Kazyak’s focus is on Sociology and Women’s &amp; Gender Studies. She teaches a variety of courses, such as WMNS 201: Introduction to LGBTQ/Sexuality Studies, WMNS 301: Sexuality and Power, and SOCI/WMNS 226: Families and Society. 

Kazyak has a <a href="https://www.emilykazyak.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> that gives an overview of her research, current projects, publications, and more. Her research focuses on law and sexuality, geography and sexuality, and family and sexuality.

“Emily Kazyak found that far from being asexual, Disney films are steeped in sexuality — heterosexuality. According to Martin and Kazyak, the plot of Disney films overwhelmingly revolve around heterosexual romance. Heterosexual love — including, of course, the highly esteemed heterosexual kiss — is presented as “exceptional, powerful, magical and transformative.”

In the syllabus of her Development 1134 class—<a href="https://campusreform.org/article?id=18143" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtained by Campus Reform</a>—Mrs. Duncan Lane apologizes to her students of color for her “whiteness” and invites her white students to confront their “innate racism.”
In a section of the syllabus titled, “Who I Am,” Mrs. Duncan Lane describes herself as a, “Caucasian, cisgender female,” who is “married to a cisgender male.” She further laments the “injustice” of arbitrarily receiving various “privileges” throughout her life.
“I am a Caucasian cisgender female and first-generation college student from Appalachia who is of Scottish, British, and Norwegian descent. I am married to a cisgender male, and we are middle class. While I did not “ask” for the many privileges in my life: I have benefited from them, and will continue to benefit from them, whether I like it or not. This is injustice.” 
Mrs. Lane then vows to work on a “daily basis” to confront her own racism in order to be fully antiracist,

Matthew Gabriele is a <a href="https://liberalarts.vt.edu/departments-and-schools/department-of-religion-and-culture/faculty/matthew-gabriele.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of Medieval Studies </a>and Chair of the Department of Religion and Culture at Virginia Tech. Dr. Gabriele does, however, support the analogy that detention facilities for illegal immigrants at the border under conservative leadership are the same as concentration camps during the holocaust.

<a href="https://profiles.ucr.edu/app/home/profile/janew">Jane Ward</a> is a professor of Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of California - Riverside. According to her personal website, Ward <a href="https://www.janewardphd.com/">teaches</a> courses in feminist, queer, and heterosexuality studies. She also <a href="https://gsst104thewitch.weebly.com/">teaches</a> a course titled, “Witches, Gender and Religion.” A “Witch,” according to Ward–who instructs the course with a “postcolonial feminist lens”–threatens capitalism, settler colonialism, and Christianity.

Ward is the <a href="https://www.theblaze.com/news/professor-heterosexuality-tragic-causes-societal-problems">author</a> of a book titled, “The Tragedy of Heterosexuality.” Ward’s central premise of the book–<a href="https://www.insider.com/why-straight-relationships-are-doomed-according-to-sex-researcher-2020-12">outlined</a> in a 2020 article for Insider_ is her belief that heterosexuality strains relationships between the sexes, and causes men to objectify women.

According to her personal website, Jane advocates for “celebrating” a child’s gender diversity and self-expression, and offers the training to help adults, parents, and teachers refrain from “policing” a child’s gender expression. Ward is also a <a href="https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/support-affirmative-care-for-trans-kids">signatory</a> to an open petition urging the Canadian government and others “to join us in calling for additional funding to develop more services to better support gender diverse children.”

<a href="https://www.jjay.cuny.edu/cot/staff">Dr. Charles Strozier</a> is a Professor for the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Dr. Strozier argues law-abiding citizens become Taliban terrorist extremists due to climate change. Strozier is a proponent of the idea that the number-one national security threat is climate change, a view espoused by Bernie Sanders among others. He asks, along with his research partner Kelly Berkel, “If more Americans knew how glacial melt contributes to catastrophic weather in Afghanistan—potentially strengthening the Taliban and imperiling Afghan girls who want to attend school—would we drive more hybrids and use millions fewer plastic bags?”

<a href="http://www.jjay.cuny.edu/faculty/gloria-browne-marshall">Gloria J. Browne-Marshall</a> is an Associate Professor of Constitutional Law at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY). In a 2013 essay, Browne-Marshall blamed the failed implementation of Obamacare on..”southern white radicals” such as Tea Party members. She wrote, “In January, President Barack Obama began his second term. However, southern White radicals vowed to stop implementation of the Obama-care law leading one to wonder if Tea Party members would oppose affordable healthcare if it came from a nonBlack [sic] President.”

James Davis is a <a href="https://psc-cuny.org/about-us/leadership/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Principal Officer and President of the Profession Staff Congress (PSC) </a>at the City University of New York (CUNY). He teaches in the American Studies Program and the English Department and dedicates part of his career to community organizing. Davis’ profile also says he’s a 17-year PSC activist. He “helped to wage successful chapter campaigns for health and safety, academic freedom, union membership, adjunct equity, anti-racism, and cross-title solidarity.”

Davis made headlines for his association with anti-Israel activities and organizations on campus. On September 1, 2022, <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=20073" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform reported</a>, “During a June 30, 2022, NYC Council meeting regarding anti-Semitism at CUNY, Professor Davis attributed the issue to ‘White Christian nationalism.’”

Campus Reform continued, “The Council meeting came as a response to a number of anti-Semitic incidents at CUNY…including a resolution passed on December 2021 by the CUNY Law Student Government Association demanding that the university ‘cut all ties’ with Israel and endorse the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.”

The <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dm4Sv9QsbzgdyrOhpVABkEZuLskrkcWp9MgjiQRDsG4/edit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BDS Resolution</a> “is a Palestinian-led global movement that aims to end international support for Israeli violations of international by forcing companies, institutions, and governments to change their policies.”

The Resolution also “calls for the end of Israeli occupation and colonization of all Arab lands and dismantling the Wall, the recognition of the fundamental rights of Palestinian citizens of Israel, and the full right of return of Palestinian refugees.” 

Davis also supports <a href="https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2021/S4461" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NY State Senate Bill S4461A -The New Deal for CUNY</a>. The general purpose of the New Deal “is intended to reestablish [CUNY] as an engine for social and economic mobility by waiving all tuition and creating certain staff-to-student ratios in order to increase student success.” 

Davis <a href="https://youtu.be/SDLL_7yTq90" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spoke out during a protest</a> in favor of the New Deal, stating,

“Students need safe and clean buildings and excellent facilities. They deserve more academic advisers and more mental health counselors to support their progress toward their degrees. They deserve access to full-time faculty, not those that need to rush off to their next gig.” 

He continued,

“CUNY students don’t deserve anything less just because half of them come from [low-income] families. They don’t deserve less just because 80 percent of CUNY students are students of color. They don’t deserve less just because 35 percent of them were born in a foreign country. No, they deserve at least as much if not more as any other student.”

Eric Lott <a href="https://www.gc.cuny.edu/people/eric-lott" target="_blank" rel="noopener">works within the Center for Humanities at the City University of New York</a>. He’s also the Distinguished Professor of American Studies, Professor of English, and Professor of Africana Studies at the CUNY Graduate Center. Lott has authored multiple books including “Black Mirror: The Cultural Contradictions of American Racism.” 

In September 2017, the book became available for purchase through an online catalog hosted by <a href="https://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog.php?isbn=9780674967717" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard University Press</a>. The Press published an “About This Book” section that says, 

“Blackness, as the entertainment and sports industries well know, is a prized commodity in American pop culture. Marketed to white consumers, black culture invites whites to view themselves in a mirror of racial difference, while at the same time offering the illusory reassurance that they remain ‘wholly’ white.”

The Press also mentioned Lott’s <a href="https://www.cc.com/video/ltlgca/the-daily-show-with-trevor-noah-reminder-race-is-not-a-costume" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah</a>. The episode discussed why blackface never makes a good Halloween costume. The show also featured a Comedy Central video called “Reminder: Race is not a Costume,” which explains how cosmetically darkening one’s skin is offensive in black culture. 

Lott shows up at a Halloween party during the opening monologue, introduces himself, and proceeds to explain how blackface is “rooted in the history and politics of slavery.” He says, 

“[Blackface] is an attempt to control and own the black image. Minstrel shows dominated popular culture and when they died out at the end of that century, [it] migrated to Hollywood…Blackface performers on stage would present slaves singing, dancing, having a grand old time, cutting up, and telling jokes. The whole thing was rooted in white supremacy.”

In his book “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Love_Theft/AA4LQGPw8f8C?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=Love+and+Theft:+Blackface+Minstrelsy+and+the+American+Working+Class&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Love and Theft: Blackface Minstrelsy and the American Working Class,</a>” Lott further explains how minstrel shows were appropriated purely for white entertainment. He claims, 

“Although [minstrels] arose from a white obsession with black (male) bodies which underlies white racial dread to our own day, it ruthlessly disavowed its fleshly investments through ridicule and racist lampoon. Yet I am not so sure this is the end of the story.”

<a href="https://www.ccny.cuny.edu/profiles/stanley-thangaraj" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stanley “Stan” Thangaraj is an Associate Professor of Anthropology</a> at the City College of New York. He specializes in race and sports, gender and sports, and immigration. In a short video, Thangaraj explained his interest in “how immigrants negotiate what it means to be American by looking and practicing in everyday American sports.” He believes "the Trump presidency and the rise of white supremacy presented an opportunity to study the facts of racism in our country.”

In the introduction of his book, “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Desi_Hoop_Dreams/V3bVCQAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=desi+hoop+dreams:+pick+up+basketball+and+the+making+of+asian+american+masculinity&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Desi Hoop Dreams: Pick-Up Basketball and the Making of Asian American Masculinity</a>,” Thangaraj says, “South Asian Americans participate in basketball and other mainstream U.S. sporting cultures to express sporting desires and perform identities as certain types of racialized athletes.” Thangaraj was also a guest on <a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/tn/podcast/more-than-a-game-sports-race-and-masculinity/id871241283?i=1000500349600" target="_blank" rel="noopener">This Anthro Life podcast in an episode titled More than a Game: Sports, Race, and Masculinity in Diaspora</a>. The episode discussed what globally popular sports reveal about U.S. race relations and how the Black Lives Matter movement impacted nonwhite and nonblack communities.

Professor Thangaraj leads two projects focused on gender and race. The first examines how Muslim Kurdish women in America are seen not as “victims of Islamic patriarchy, [but] how women assert agency and form identities…while challenging mainstream U.S. racializations of them.” The second project is based on the Civil Rights movement's race, class, and sexuality as it is presented in the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee.

Thangaraj identifies as an ally of the LGBTQ community at CCNY. Thereby, his courses affirm to students of all genders, and his classrooms and offices are “safe spaces.” Anthropology of Gender and Sexuality is primarily listed among the courses he teaches.

Her research and professional interests include multicultural psychology, social justice, racial-cultural socialization, racial identity, and race-based traumatic stress.

Dr. Sant-Barket is recognized as an ally of the <a href="https://www.ccny.cuny.edu/lgbtq-student-center/allies-ccny">LGBTQ+ community at CCNY</a>. By choosing to support this community, she aims to provide a “safe space” and affirm all students regardless of their gender identity. 

Dr. Sant-Barket co-authored a peer-reviewed article entitled <a href="https://www.academia.edu/es/32121864/Race_Based_Traumatic_Stress_Racial_Identity_Statuses_and_Psychological_Functioning_An_Exploratory_Investigation">Race-Based Traumatic Stress, Racial Identity Statuses, and Psychological Functioning: An Explorative Investigation.</a> The study examines “the impact racial experiences have on people of color” as well as determines whether “race-based traumatic stress reactions combined with racial identity status attitudes are related to their psychological function.” Comments within the paper are charged at one racial group:

Dr. Sant-Barket is also partnered with the SEEK (search for education, elevation, and knowledge) program at CCNY. The state-funded program exists to help students identified as economically or academically disadvantaged through grants and other cost-free services.

<a href="http://music.hunter.cuny.edu/faculty/full-time-faculty/philip-ewell/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Philip Ewell</a> is a Professor of Music Theory at Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Music Department. Ewell’s university profile says his research interests include race studies in music theory, modal theory, and hip-hop and popular music.

Ewell is quoted in a <a href="https://yaledailynews.com/blog/2022/11/11/profile-philip-ewell-01-the-cellist-shaping-music-theorys-racial-reckoning/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yale News profile</a> stating,

“In the mid-20th century, the conceptions of excellence by which he was surrounded were deeply intertwined with ideals of whiteness and maleness. One was not supposed to admit such a notion aloud; instead, it was safer to put forth ‘that Mozart and Beethoven were simply the best composers on the planet.’”

Yale News continued,

“In his most well-known work to date, ‘Music Theory’s Racial Frame,’ Ewell argued for the existence of a structural and institutional white racial frame to the practice of music theory as a whole, and put forth the possibility of reframing the practice in a non-supremacist manner.”

Within the article, Ewell also branded his father — who is an African-American — as a racist and said he “believed deeply in the tenets of Communism.” In Ewell’s discussion regarding race in music, Yale News said, “He brought up his own Black father’s white supremacist as a counterargument; the hierarchy he imposed entailed white supremacy by definition…Ewell called this phenomenon the ‘concentric circles of white supremacy.’”

Ewell published a blog titled “<a href="https://musictheoryswhiteracialframe.wordpress.com/2020/04/10/racism-sexism-and-their-intersection-in-music-theory/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Race, Gender, and Their Intersection in Music Theory</a>” where he discusses how American music theory only recognizes Ancient Greek, Latin, Italian, French and German. He wrote, “Music theory’s white racial frame believes that the only foreign music theoretical works worth studying were written in these five languages.”

Regarding music programs on college campuses he argues, “Seminars featuring 100% white-male music theorists create hostile environments for POC (people of color) and nonmales, and, especially, nonmales of color.” He also claimed the courses are “all-white all-male seminars” that “highlight the intersection of race and gender in music theory.”

Dr. Schorn goes on to say that he educates his students about critical race theory in all of his classrooms. He also states that critical race theory teaches that we created a legal system in the United States that is inherently racist, as it affects minorities more negatively than white Americans. Dr. Schorn also accuses America of being racist against minorities because of voting requirements and voting access restrictions.

<a href="https://www.mcw.edu/departments/pediatrics/divisions/endocrinology/people" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Susanne Cabrera</a> is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is an active member of the McGee Center for Diabetes Research and the Gender Health Program Director at <a href="https://childrenswi.org/physician-directory/c/cabrera-susanne-m" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Children’s Wisconsin</a>.

According to the Children’s Wisconsin website, the <a href="https://childrenswi.org/medical-care/endocrine/gender-health-clinic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gender Health Clinic</a> is “committed to improving the lives of all children and youth in any facet of their health and well-being.” The clinic meets with children up to 16 years of age and “the most common care plans include ongoing psychological, emotional or social support.”

The website adds:
“In some cases, our services may include reversible puberty-suppressing hormone therapy, gender-affirming hormone therapy, surgical treatments, and speech/voice training.” 
However, health experts question the claim that puberty-suppressing hormone therapy is reversible.

A November 2022 <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230408212746/https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/14/health/puberty-blockers-transgender.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Times</a> article says, “There is emerging evidence of potential harm from using blockers, according to reviews of scientific papers and interviews with more than 50 doctors and academic experts around the world. The drugs suppress estrogen and testosterone, hormones that help develop the reproductive system but also affect the bones, the brain and other parts of the body.”

The article also says:
“When adolescents are using blockers, bone density growth flatlines, on average, according to an analysis commissioned by The Times of observational studies examining the effects.” 
Despite this, Children’s Wisconsin says pediatric endocrinologists with the Gender Health Clinic “may prescribe puberty-suppressing hormone therapy and gender-affirming hormone therapy (testosterone and estrogen).”

On October 19, 2022, McCune made headlines as <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/controversies-one-college-professor-says-s-value-teaching-students-kan-rcna52592" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News reported</a> his “hopes to launch his third class on Ye [Kanye West] focusing on the rapper’s artistry, influence and political views as a way to teach complex topics to college students.” The source also said McCune “sees Ye’s erratic behavior as an entry point into exploring white evangelical Christianity in Black culture and how it can foster anti-Blackness.”

He continues,

On October 19, 2022, McCune made headlines as <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/controversies-one-college-professor-says-s-value-teaching-students-kan-rcna52592" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News reported</a> his “hopes to launch his third class on Ye [Kanye West] focusing on the rapper’s artistry, influence and political views as a way to teach complex topics to college students.” The source also said McCune “sees Ye’s erratic behavior as an entry point into exploring white evangelical Christianity in Black culture and how it can foster anti-Blackness.”

He writes extensively on right-wing and conservative politics and is vocally pro-Critical Race Theory. He has published many articles and recently co-wrote a book called, <a href="https://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/producers-parasites-patriots" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Producers, Parasites, Patriots: Race and the New Right-Wing Politics of Precarity.” </a>

In April of 2020, <a href="https://newrepublic.com/article/157505/morbid-ideology-behind-drive-reopen-america" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Lowndes published an article</a> in the New Republic bashing conservative officials and citizens alike for their “dangerous views” on COVID-19. In the article, he accuses conservatives in the U.S. House of Representatives of being “pathological” for their refusal to wear masks when voting on the coronavirus relief bill. He also claims conservatives only want the country to remain open to “keep the current wealth stratifications in place and protect the rich from economic harm.”

Many articles and research publications written during lockdowns detailed how <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/13/business/small-businesses-coronavirus.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">small businesses would simply not be able to survive</a> if they continued to be locked down. <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-19s-toll-on-u-s-business-200-000-extra-closures-in-pandemics-first-year-11618580619" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Wall Street Journal</a> noted that roughly 200,000 businesses permanently closed because of the pandemic. Lockdowns also caused many people in the United States to lose their jobs - approximately 9.6 million Americans were let go in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Besides “racist”, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJadc6GEfyA" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Lowndes also labels</a> conservatives as “conspiracy theorists” (particularly around COVID-19, election integrity, and BLM), “dangerous”, and “self-appointed vigilantes.”  He claims the “foe of those on the right” are opponents defined by race, religion, nationality, and immigrants from the outside. He accuses conservatives as demonizing anyone against their ideals.

<a href="https://www.heritage.org/conservatism/commentary/defining-the-principles-conservatism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Conservative principles </a>are founded in the belief that the government should have limited involvement in the everyday life of American citizens. The federal government’s power should be restricted to what is outlined in the constitution. American individuals and families should have the right to decide what is best for their religion, health, and welfare without government involvement. Taxes should be limited only to what is necessary to fund constitutionally appropriate functions. None of these principles have any bearing on someone’s race, religion, or nationality.

In 2015, Millán wrote an academic article titled <a href="https://krex.k-state.edu/dspace/bitstream/handle/2097/32551/681919.pdf?sequence=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Contested Children’s Literature: Que(e)ries into Chicana and Central American Autofantasias.”</a> She proposes a “literary technique” called autofantasia in the article: “I propose autofantasıa as a literary technique whereby authors deliberately insert themselves within a text in order to fantasize solutions or responses to hegemonic structures.” Millán writes that “the root word, auto, suggests, [sic] the author intentionally writes from an autobiographical perspective.” This autobiographical perspective is paired with “fantasia”, which is “a form of fiction that engulfs everything that can be imagined or fantasized.” Millán uses “fantasıa as an umbrella term for what may be labeled speculative fiction or, more specifically, fantasy fiction, science fiction, and magical realism.”

According to her university profile, Millán is working on a manuscript for a book called “Coloring into Existence: Queer of Color Worldmaking in Children's Literature.”

Professor Ott published an op-ed in The New York Times titled, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20221121133530/https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/20/opinion/donald-trump-twitter-return.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“I Studied Trump’s Twitter Use for Six Years. Prepare for the Worst.”</a> In his article, Ott claims, “&#8230;nothing Mr. Musk has done … is nearly as concerning as his decision to suddenly reinstate former President Donald Trump’s account.”
Ott says he has been studying Trump’s Twitter activity since before he became president, and adds:
“&#8230;I believe that his return would mean the heightened spread of both misinformation and disinformation, the proliferation of degrading and dehumanizing discourse, the further mainstreaming of hate speech and the erosion of democratic norms and institutions.” 
He also believes Trump’s return to Twitter could lead to political violence because he has “demonstrated a consistent willingness to invoke racially and sexually charged rhetoric that contains an implicit call to violence.”
This is not the first time Ott has spoken out against Donald Trump’s Twitter use. <a href="https://www.oberlin.edu/mohammad-jafar-mahallati" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mohammad Jafar Mahallati</a> is a Professor of Religion and the Nancy Dye Chair in Middle East and North African Studies at Oberlin College. From 1987-1989, he served as the Ambassador to the United Nations on behalf of Iran. In that role, he is accused of covering up Iran’s executions of political prisoners and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel on the world stage.
As the Jerusalem Post <a href="https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/iran-news/iranian-diplomat-turned-us-professor-accused-of-crimes-against-humanity-645107" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a>, a group of Iranian political prisoners and human rights activists sent a letter to the president of Oberlin College demanding that the college dismiss Mahallati for his role in Iran’s infamous 1988 mass executions. Over the course of several months of 1988, it is <a href="https://townhall.com/columnists/taharboumedra/2021/01/19/pleading-for-justice-to-the-victims-of-1988-mass-executions-of-political-prisoners-in-iran-n2583360" target="_blank" rel="noopener">estimated</a> that Iran executed as many as 30,000 political prisoners.
In a <a href="https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/iran-news/iranian-diplomat-turned-us-professor-accused-of-crimes-against-humanity-645107" target="_blank" rel="noopener">response</a> to the Jerusalem Post, Mahallati states that he had no knowledge of the massacres. He claims that his accusers have produced no evidence implicating him in the killings, and Mahallati “categorically” denies receiving any information regarding Iran’s mass executions while serving as an Ambassador.
“The accusers fail to provide a single solid document as evidence of my actual knowledge of these incidents. With no concrete evidence, they infer that I must have been informed and intentionally denied these atrocities. I categorically deny any knowledge and therefore responsibility regarding mass executions in Iran when I was serving at the United Nations.” &#8211; Mahallati
Mahallati, in his role as Iran’s ambassador to the UN, vocally downplayed and excused the executions. In a thread of Tweets, Iranian human rights activist Kaveh Shahrooz <a href="https://twitter.com/kshahrooz/status/1314261433291542532/photo/1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documents</a> that Mahallati not only <a href="https://www.un.org/en/ga/search/view_doc.asp?symbol=E/CN.4/1989/26" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acknowledges</a> the executions before the UN at that time, but attempts to excuse them as battlefield casualties or sensationalized propaganda from Iraq.

During his two-year delegation to the United Nations, Mahallati frequently denied the right of Israel to exist and praised Palestinian terrorists. As Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/oberlin-professor-of-peace-iranian-ambassador-destruction-of-israel-1989-speech">reports</a>, Mahallati, who refers to Israel as a “Zionist entity,” states before the UN that Israel’s founding was a “violation of International law.”

In a response to a Fox News inquiry about Mahallati, Oberlin College spokesman Scott Wargo <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/oberlin-professor-of-peace-iranian-ambassador-destruction-of-israel-1989-speech">states</a>, “Professor Mahallati is a tenured professor and has seen a teacher at Oberlin since 2007. We have received the letter today expressing concerns about his statements during a meeting with the United Nations representatives more than 30 years ago. We are in touch with Professor Mahallati to gather additional information.”
In a letter sent to Oberlin President Carmen Twillie, and published in The Oberlin Review,  577 signatories <a href="https://oberlinreview.org/21828/opinions/hiring-mohammad-mahallati-against-oberlins-mission-and-vision/">call</a> for Mahallati to be “removed from his position” at Oberlin. The letter also states that his appointment is at “fundamental odds” with Oberlin’s stated values.
The Oberlin Review also reports that Mahallati is the <a href="https://oberlinreview.org/21855/news/religion-professor-denies-accusations-of-human-rights-abuses-cover-up/">founder</a> of the “Friendship Initiative.” According to the Friendship Initiative’s website, the <a href="https://www.oberlin.edu/friendship">goal</a> of the organization is to promote friendship as a “radical framework for developing international, interfaith, and intercultural justice and peace.” Mahallati also hosts Oberlin College’s annual “<a href="https://www.oberlin.edu/events/oberlin_friendship_festival_a_virtual_event">Friendship Festival</a>” which claims to celebrate interfaith peace and justice.
In further unearthed statements, Dr. Mahallati <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/world/oberlin-colleges-professor-peace-endorsed-fatwa-murder-salman-rushdie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">endorsed the &#8220;fatwa&#8221;—or sentence of death—leveled against author Salaman Rushdie for criticizing Islam. </a>
The fatwa was <a href="https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/salman-rushdie-satanic-verses-fatwa-iran">issued by Iran&#8217;s Supreme Leader—Ayatollah Kh0meini—in 1989, which called upon &#8220;all brave Muslims&#8221; to kill Rushdie</a> for authoring The Satanic Verses. It has never been rescinded.
When asked about the fatwa while serving as Ambassador, Dr. Mahallati responded: &#8220;I think all Islamic countries agree with Iran. All Islamic nations and countries agree with Iran that any blasphemous statement against sacred figures should be condemned.&#8221;
He continued, &#8220;I think if Western countries really believe and respect freedom of speech, therefore they should also respect our freedom of speech. We certainly use that right in order to express ourselves, our religious belief, in the case of any blasphemous statement against sacred Islamic figures.&#8221;

<a href="http://www.ohiohumanities.org/speakers/carol-lasser/">Dr. Carol Lasser</a> is a Professor Emerita of History at Oberlin College in Ohio. Lasser shredded a copy of the U.S. Constitution because it was an “oppressive document” and causes students “pain."

<a href="https://canarymission.org/professors/joy-karega/">Dr. Joy Karega</a> is an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition at Oberlin College. She posted a series of anti-Semitic Facebook posts in the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo terror attacks. In these posts, Karega placed the blame for the attacks on Israel and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. After being fired by the university for her comments in 2016, Karega sued and eventually <a href="https://chroniclet.com/news/200709/fired-professor-oberlin-college-settle-lawsuit/">settled</a> for an undisclosed amount.

<a href="https://www.oberlin.edu/mohammad-jafar-mahallati" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mohammad Jafar Mahallati</a> is a Professor of Religion and the Nancy Dye Chair in Middle East and North African Studies at Oberlin College. From 1987-1989, he served as the Ambassador to the United Nations on behalf of Iran. In that role, he is accused of covering up Iran’s executions of political prisoners and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel on the world stage.

As the Jerusalem Post <a href="https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/iran-news/iranian-diplomat-turned-us-professor-accused-of-crimes-against-humanity-645107" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a>, a group of Iranian political prisoners and human rights activists sent a letter to the president of Oberlin College demanding that the college dismiss Mahallati for his role in Iran’s infamous 1988 mass executions. Over the course of several months of 1988, it is <a href="https://townhall.com/columnists/taharboumedra/2021/01/19/pleading-for-justice-to-the-victims-of-1988-mass-executions-of-political-prisoners-in-iran-n2583360" target="_blank" rel="noopener">estimated</a> that Iran executed as many as 30,000 political prisoners.

In a <a href="https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/iran-news/iranian-diplomat-turned-us-professor-accused-of-crimes-against-humanity-645107" target="_blank" rel="noopener">response</a> to the Jerusalem Post, Mahallati states that he had no knowledge of the massacres. He claims that his accusers have produced no evidence implicating him in the killings, and Mahallati “categorically” denies receiving any information regarding Iran’s mass executions while serving as an Ambassador.

“The accusers fail to provide a single solid document as evidence of my actual knowledge of these incidents. With no concrete evidence, they infer that I must have been informed and intentionally denied these atrocities. I categorically deny any knowledge and therefore responsibility regarding mass executions in Iran when I was serving at the United Nations.” - Mahallati

Mahallati, in his role as Iran’s ambassador to the UN, vocally downplayed and excused the executions. In a thread of Tweets, Iranian human rights activist Kaveh Shahrooz <a href="https://twitter.com/kshahrooz/status/1314261433291542532/photo/1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documents</a> that Mahallati not only <a href="https://www.un.org/en/ga/search/view_doc.asp?symbol=E/CN.4/1989/26" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acknowledges</a> the executions before the UN at that time, but attempts to excuse them as battlefield casualties or sensationalized propaganda from Iraq.

<a href="https://www.oberlin.edu/jennifer-blaylock" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jennifer Blaylock</a> is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Cinema Studies and a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Oberlin College. Courses she has taught at Oberlin College include, but are not limited to, Introduction to African Cinemas and Feminist Media Histories.

According to her university profile, she is a “film and media historian with research interests in audio-visual archives, postcolonial and decolonial theory, and African studies.”

Blaylock recently taught a Winter Term project titled Decolonizing Cinema History. <a href="https://oberlinreview.org/30097/arts/bodies-are-fluid-film-screening-expands-on-amam-conversation-through-feminist-video-art/#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Oberlin Review</a> reports the course “invited students with a variety of experiences and interest levels to participate and allowed them to explore feminist media and art film.”

Blaylock says the Winter Term project started from a few needs that she saw on campus, one being that the Cinema Studies department had a collection of 16-millimeter films. She adds:
“The other part of the project is that I’ve been writing a lot about archives recently, and so I was interested in thinking about a lot of new literature on film archives in particular that have to do with decolonizing institutions of archival memory.” 
She continues:
“How are archivists addressing neglect of certain histories based on race, gender, sexuality, [and] geographic parts of the world that have been left out from film memory?” 
Students in Blaylock’s course on decolonizing cinema <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/bodily-fluids-film-fest-hosted-by-oberlin-film-scholar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">organized a film fest</a> with archived pornographic footage. The films shown at the event “spanned a wide range of topics and forms, but were tied together by their focus on bodies and bodily fluids.” Blaylock shared her support for the event on her Twitter:

<a href="https://www.uh.edu/class/ccs/people/nicholas-de-genova/">Dr. Nicholas De Genova</a> is a professor and the Chair of the Department of Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Houston. His university biography describes him as a scholar of migration, borders, citizenship, labor, critical race, postcolonial, and ethnic studies. Dr. De Genova is an ardent advocate for abolishing national borders and has called for the death of American soldiers.
In an interview for the <a href="https://lnu.se/en/research/searchresearch/linnaeus-university-centre-for-concurrences-in-colonial-and-postcolonial-studies/">Centre for Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies</a>, Dr. De Genova <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkF0I1Z9eGo">describes his work in postcolonial studies</a> as taking the free movement of people across borders as a “natural element of the human condition.&#8221; At one point in the interview, Dr. De Genova implies that national borders should be abolished.

Throughout his work, Dr. De Genova claims that borders are used to elicit racial strife. In a piece written for the Journal of the American Anthropological Association, Dr. De Genova alleges there are <a href="http://www.americananthropologist.org/2020/03/23/everything-is-permitted-trump-white-supremacy-fascism/">parallels between Trump’s policies on the US-Mexico border and a “brutal and bellicose racial nativism” of conservative support for restrictive immigration policies. </a>
In the same paper, Dr. De Genova describes conservatives as fascists who are fomenting a racial civil war against people of color and illegal immigrants through the enforcement of immigration laws. He states:
“We must interrogate the synergies between, on the one hand, the variety of ways that Trump’s supporters are induced to endorse or emulate this brutal and bellicose racial nativism and, on the other hand, the outright cruelty and sadism, of the Trump administration’s border-enforcement tactics and the racist violence that they have institutionalized.” 
Dr. De Genova describes the United States as a nation that embodies white nationalism. Quoting author Wahneema Lubiano, Dr. De Genova states that <a href="http://www.americananthropologist.org/2020/03/23/everything-is-permitted-trump-white-supremacy-fascism/">American history has always “been some form” of white nationalism</a>.

<a href="https://www.columbiaspectator.com/2003/03/31/letters-editorprofessor-qualifies-quotation-article-and-addresses-criticism/">In an open letter published by The Columbia Spectator,</a> Dr. De Genova described the United States as an emblem of white nationalism. Alleging the formation of the United States constituted racism and imperialism, Dr. De Genova called on Americans to “repudiate all forms of patriotism.”
The letter is a response to the public outcry to his teach-in at Columbia University, where Dr. De Genova called for “<a href="https://nypost.com/2003/03/31/prof-pilloried-columbia-community-condemns-words-of-hate/">a million Mogadishus” to be inflicted against American troops in Iraq</a>.

The professor is referring to the Black Hawk Down incident that occurred in Somalia during the <a href="https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/ambush/etc/cron.html">Battle of Mogadishu in 1993</a>,  where 18 American soldiers were killed and over 70 were wounded. Pictures later emerged of <a href="https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/legacy-black-hawk-down-180971000/">the bodies of the servicemen being dragged through the streets</a> by Somalian militia groups. The demoralizing aftermath is considered to have contributed to the decision of then-President Bill Clinton to withdraw America’s humanitarian mission from the country.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. De Genova serves as the chair of the Special Committee on Race and Social Justice at the University of Houston. <a href="https://uh.edu/class/about-us/race-and-social-justice-committee/">According to the university’s official website</a>, the committee organizes events to educate students about topics such as the “racial formation of modern capitalism, mass incarceration, racism in academia, and the “racial underpinnings for contemporary immigration policy and border policing.” according to the University’s official site.

<a href="https://www.uh.edu/class/ccs/people/nicholas-de-genova/">Dr. Nicholas De Genova</a> is a professor and the Chair of the Department of Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Houston. His university biography describes him as a scholar of migration, borders, citizenship, labor, critical race, postcolonial, and ethnic studies. Dr. De Genova is an ardent advocate for abolishing national borders and has called for the death of American soldiers.

In an interview for the <a href="https://lnu.se/en/research/searchresearch/linnaeus-university-centre-for-concurrences-in-colonial-and-postcolonial-studies/">Centre for Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies</a>, Dr. De Genova <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkF0I1Z9eGo">describes his work in postcolonial studies</a> as taking the free movement of people across borders as a “natural element of the human condition." At one point in the interview, Dr. De Genova implies that national borders should be abolished.

Continuing, Dr. De Genova states that <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkF0I1Z9eGo">national borders are the most violent divisions that humanity has constructed</a>.

Throughout his work, Dr. De Genova claims that borders are used to elicit racial strife. In a piece written for the Journal of the American Anthropological Association, Dr. De Genova alleges there are <a href="http://www.americananthropologist.org/2020/03/23/everything-is-permitted-trump-white-supremacy-fascism/">parallels between Trump’s policies on the US-Mexico border and a “brutal and bellicose racial nativism” of conservative support for restrictive immigration policies. </a>

In the same paper, Dr. De Genova describes conservatives as fascists who are fomenting a racial civil war against people of color and illegal immigrants through the enforcement of immigration laws. He states:

“We must interrogate the synergies between, on the one hand, the variety of ways that Trump’s supporters are induced to endorse or emulate this brutal and bellicose racial nativism and, on the other hand, the outright cruelty and sadism, of the Trump administration’s border-enforcement tactics and the racist violence that they have institutionalized.” 

Dr. De Genova describes the United States as a nation that embodies white nationalism. Quoting author Wahneema Lubiano, Dr. De Genova states that <a href="http://www.americananthropologist.org/2020/03/23/everything-is-permitted-trump-white-supremacy-fascism/">American history has always “been some form” of white nationalism</a>.

<a href="https://www.columbiaspectator.com/2003/03/31/letters-editorprofessor-qualifies-quotation-article-and-addresses-criticism/">In an open letter published by The Columbia Spectator,</a> Dr. De Genova described the United States as an emblem of white nationalism. Alleging the formation of the United States constituted racism and imperialism, Dr. De Genova called on Americans to “repudiate all forms of patriotism.”

The letter is a response to the public outcry to his teach-in at Columbia University, where Dr. De Genova called for “<a href="https://nypost.com/2003/03/31/prof-pilloried-columbia-community-condemns-words-of-hate/">a million Mogadishus” to be inflicted against American troops in Iraq</a>.

The professor is referring to the Black Hawk Down incident that occurred in Somalia during the <a href="https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/ambush/etc/cron.html">Battle of Mogadishu in 1993</a>,  where 18 American soldiers were killed and over 70 were wounded. Pictures later emerged of <a href="https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/legacy-black-hawk-down-180971000/">the bodies of the servicemen being dragged through the streets</a> by Somalian militia groups. The demoralizing aftermath is considered to have contributed to the decision of then-President Bill Clinton to withdraw America’s humanitarian mission from the country.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. De Genova serves as the chair of the Special Committee on Race and Social Justice at the University of Houston. <a href="https://uh.edu/class/about-us/race-and-social-justice-committee/">According to the university’s official website</a>, the committee organizes events to educate students about topics such as the “racial formation of modern capitalism, mass incarceration, racism in academia, and the “racial underpinnings for contemporary immigration policy and border policing.” according to the University’s official site.

According to <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=20506" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a>, Madera and a few other educators published an article, titled: “<a href="https://www.chronicle.com/article/promotion-rejected-your-record-may-not-be-the-problem" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Promotion Rejected? Your Record May Not Be the Problem</a>.” The article was published by the <a href="https://www.chronicle.com/article/promotion-rejected-your-record-may-not-be-the-problem" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chronicle of Higher Education</a>, also known as “The Chronicle.” Madera and his co-authors elaborate on a study of fairness and bias in tenure and promotion which “suggests that some candidates are spurned for reasons beyond their control.” The study, “<a href="https://uh.edu/class/psychology/promotionandtenurestudy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fairness and Bias in Promotion and Tenure</a>,” is being conducted through the University of Houston with multiple educators and faculty members, including Madera. The website’s mission statement is to “Determine structural barriers around promotion and tenure limiting the advancement of minority faculty and ultimately the inclusion of all demographic groups in Science.”

Dr. Macula has accused former President Donald J. Trump of embodying the “white power” movement, and labeled Trump voters as “civically irresponsible.”
Following the presidential victory of Donald J. Trump in November of 2016, Dr. Macula sent out an email—obtained by the Livingston County News—addressing the election to roughly 600 staff members at the university. In the letter, Dr. Macula <a href="https://www.thelcn.com/news/local/in-mass-email-suny-geneseo-professor-asks-trump-supporters-do-you-believe-in-white-power/article_9da767a7-ebeb-527d-b7cf-b50ffd2786c2.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accuses Trump’s campaign of “legitimizing the white supremacy movement.</a>” He further demands to know the rationale of the email recipients who “irresponsibly voted for Trump.”

<a href="https://www.depts.ttu.edu/theatre-dance/about/leadership/faculty/duffy-ali.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ali Duffy</a> is a President&#8217;s Excellence in Teaching Professor, Associate Head and Professor of Dance and Honors, and Graduate Dance Director at <a href="https://www.ttu.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Texas Tech University</a>. Duffy is the founder and Artistic Director of <a href="http://www.flatlandsdance.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Flatlands Dance Theatre</a> and co-founder of the International Alliance for Parents in Dance.
According to <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=20380" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a>, Professor Duffy, along with other staff, attempted to ruin an event featuring Kayleigh McEnany by encouraging people to reserve tickets and not attend. Duffy made a Facebook post, stating: “Oh, goodie, a real live fascist is coming to town. Would be a real shame if we all registered for a free event ticket and then not be able to go!”

Duffy posted the screenshot above to Facebook of an ‘advertisement’ shared by the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/techyc12/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT)</a> Chapter Chairman, Kenzie Gardner. 
Campus Reform reports that more staff also appear to “have pledged to reserve a ticket” but do not plan on attending the event. Sabrina Davis, an Assistant Librarian at Texas Tech said: “Registering as many times as I can while drinking wine sounds like a perfect way to spend my Friday evening…” 
The <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/e/kayleigh-mcenany-at-texas-tech-tickets-419606553497" target="_blank" rel="noopener">YCT event</a> will be held on October 15, 2022, in the Student Union Building at 7 pm. McEnany will share her experience in serving as Press Secretary in the Trump Administration.

According to <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=20380" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a>, Professor Duffy, along with other staff, attempted to ruin an event featuring Kayleigh McEnany by encouraging people to reserve tickets and not attend. Duffy made a Facebook post, stating: “Oh, goodie, a real live fascist is coming to town. Would be a real shame if we all registered for a free event ticket and then not be able to go!”

Duffy posted the screenshot above to Facebook of an ‘advertisement’ shared by the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/techyc12/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT)</a> Chapter Chairman, Kenzie Gardner. 

Campus Reform reports that more staff also appear to “have pledged to reserve a ticket” but do not plan on attending the event. Sabrina Davis, an Assistant Librarian at Texas Tech said: “Registering as many times as I can while drinking wine sounds like a perfect way to spend my Friday evening…”

<a href="https://www.depts.ttu.edu/biology/people/Faculty/Schwilk/">Dr. Dylan Schwilk</a> is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Texas Tech. Citing rising COVID cases, Dr. Schwilk asked his class to segregate based on whether or not they wear masks in his classroom. 
The controversy occurred just prior to the first week of the spring semester classes in 2022. In his introductory email to the class—provided to TPUSA’s Professor Watchlist by an anonymous source—Dr. Schwilk announces new COVID restrictions that will be implemented the following day; students without masks will be asked to sit on opposite sides of the room from those who wear them. 
“I expect students will wear masks to protect others and themselves. Those students who refuse to wear masks will be asked to sit on the right hand side of the lecture hall (as you face the podium and screens) so that there is more separation from those wearing masks.”

Professor Wohlfarth teaches a course titled “Cultural Humility &#8211; Foundations” for the university’s “Restorative Practices for the Antiracist Journey” certification program. In an email sent to <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/kentucky-university-offers-badges-in-anti-racism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The College Fix</a>, Wohlfarth said her aim is to “create a more just society for all, with equal access to resources for all across race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, SES, immigration status, educational level, etc.”
She also wrote:
“Our society has been too long been [sic] tipped to favor some over others and is not a level playing field, despite what some believe. We need to all do our own work in changing the status quo, because, hard truth: It doesn’t work for many people.”

In January 2021, Spalding University <a href="https://spalding.edu/restorative-practice-antiracist-journey-anti-racism-training-program-launched/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced the launch</a> of the “Restorative Practices for the Antiracist Journey” certification program. The news release describes the program as a “range of half- and full-day online courses” that “will teach concepts of cultural humility and restorative practices as a means to bring about positive social change.”
The release also states:
“Upon completion, participants in Restorative Practices for the Antiracist Journey will be awarded three tiers of certification badges by Spalding &#8211; Bronze, Silver and Ebony (highest level) &#8211; based on the number of sessions completed, and these credentials will be appropriate to share on resumes and online professional profiles.”
