<a href="https://wilder.vcu.edu/people/administration/rajade-m-berry-james.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RaJade Berry-James</a> is a Professor and the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her areas of expertise are “Social Equity,” “Research Methods and Analysis,” and “Program Evaluation and Assessment.”
During her employment at North Carolina State University, Berry-James was <a href="https://www.insightintodiversity.com/social-justice-education-in-public-policy-schools-is-crucial-for-the-nations-future/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">featured in an article</a> titled “Social Justice Education in Public Policy Schools is Crucial for the Nation’s Future.” The article states:
“After watching in horror the murder of George Floyd by police officers last May, [Berry-James] promised her two teenage daughters that she would do everything in her power to make the United States a better, more equitable place for them to live … With the unjust death of Floyd so fresh on everyone’s mind, it is imperative that public policy educators seize the current moment to break down institutional barriers and address long overdue reforms, says Berry-James.”
Berry-James is quoted directly, saying:
“Going forward, our curricula changes must advance our understanding of social equity and social justice, develop culturally competent professionals, and address critical issues in the public sector. Our students must be trained to identify problems as well as develop strategies to critically analyze oppression.”
In the book “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Diversity_and_Public_Administration/k6KOZANF7MIC?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=rajade+berry-james&amp;pg=PA61&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Diversity and Public Administration</a>,”  Berry-James authored a chapter called Managing Diversity: Moving Beyond Organizational Conflict. In the opening paragraph, she declares:

In the same chapter, she states, “Affirmative action initiatives encourage organizations and educational institutions to utilize more aggressive strategies in recruiting a diverse application pool, achieving employee diversity, and awarding contracts.”
Berry-James co-authored a chapter in <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Racial_Equity_COVID_19_and_Public_Policy/_gumEAAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=rajade+berry-james&amp;pg=PT46&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">another book</a> entitled “Racial Equity, COVID-19, and Public Policy: The Triple Pandemic.” Berry-James et al. claimed, “The impact of convergent thinking about the coronavirus has perplexed policymakers, public health professionals, and society. Citizen insight during an extended period of crisis has been difficult to navigate for people of color.”
In <a href="https://digitalscholarship.tsu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1172&amp;context=jpmsp" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a paper she co-authored</a> — “What the Hell is Wrong with America? The Truth about Racism and Justice for All” — Berry-James et al. partially quoted <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/ibramxkendi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ibram X. Kendi</a>, claiming:

<a href="https://afam.vcu.edu/directory/guy.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mignonne Guy</a> is an Associate Professor in the Department of African American Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University. According to Guy’s biography, she “teaches courses on health inequities in [b]lack populations, race and racism in the U.S., and interdisciplinary research methods.”

Guy also <a href="https://health-equity-action.org/users/mignonneguy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">serves as the Director</a> of Social Justice Integration in Research and Training at the Health Equity Action Network. Her research interests include “using critical race, epistemic oppression and ecosocial lenses” to evaluate health outcomes in “people of African descent.”

On Twitter, Guy has a history of publishing and reposting radicalized graphics.

During a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3449885971767071" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Facebook Live</a> event titled “Internalized Racism,” Guy stated:

In an interview with <a href="https://www.vpm.org/news/2019-12-18/turnover-of-black-faculty-remains-high-at-vcu" target="_blank" rel="noopener">VPM News</a>, Guy discussed the higher turnover rate of black faculty members. According to VPM, “[Guy] says efforts to recruit and retain faculty of color have to be about changing the culture of the environment, not just filling a quota … Guy says she experienced everyday racism and microaggressions, like being asked for four pieces of ID when picking up a package at the post office.” 

Regarding faculty ratios, Guy was quoted stating, “You can bring a hundred black faculty here tomorrow and you still may have low retention rates, right? You still may not be able to keep them here.”

Guy was interviewed for an <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zd7LcWrzgQgOhXuQDjPOE9077YneLxap/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article titled</a>, “Williams: The War on Black [H]istory is hurting [W]hite Americans Too,” in which the author discussed the ban of African American Studies on high school campuses. Many lawmakers thought the program <a href="https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/virginia-dept-of-ed-approves-ap-african-american-studies/3424663/#:~:text=Aimee%20Cho%20reports.-,A%20stripped%2Ddown%20version%20of%20AP%20African%20American%20Studies%20can,concepts%E2%80%9D%20when%20he%20took%20office." target="_blank" rel="noopener">harbored harmful ideologies</a> like critical race theory. Guy said:
“It’s not just anti-blackness. It is an explicit act of legislating white ignorance…because they are being robbed of their history as well … “
When asked about the protests following the death of George Floyd, Guy stated:

<a href="https://directory.nau.edu/person/hem23">Dr. Heather Martel</a> is a Professor of Women and Gender Studies at Northern Arizona University. According to her university profile, Martel’s academic specialization is in “Early Modern Atlantic World History with a Feminist Emphasis.” 
According to audio obtained by <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article/audio-student-forced-stop-reading-bible-class/9114" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a>, Martel told Mark Holden — a student in her U.S. history class — that he was not allowed to read the Bible before class. 
The <a href="https://youtu.be/yZE9xC0ug60" target="_blank" rel="noopener">audio</a> records History Department Chair Dr. Heng telling the student Martel&#8217;s wishes that he not have the Bible out before class, or for the student to be seated in the front row.
Holden told <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/bible-reading-not-allowed-before-class-professor-tells-student" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a> of an incident that occurred during a class discussion about assimilation:
“All the students agreed with her that assimilation is oppressive and evil. I suggested there are both positive and negative aspects to assimilation.”
To prove his claim, the student proceeded to mention an alleged case of two Muslim immigrants in California who believed the Koran justified severe mistreatment of women.
In response to this statement, Martel told Holden that he was racist: 
“She told me I was a racist and she would not tolerate that kind of racism in the class. I told her Islam was not a race and I was only talking about what the two Muslims men as individuals said – I was not making broad claims about Islam or my interpretation of the Koran.”
In an email sent to Holden (obtained by Campus Reform), Martel claimed that the student had caused disruption in her class. She addressed an incident with Martel during one of her classes: 
“[Y]ou raised your hand for most of the rest of class. When I acknowledged that I saw your hand but stated we would be hearing from your classmates instead as you had already had your input, you said in a loud voice: ‘You work for me. I pay your salary.’”
According to Fox News, Holden sought the aid of Kevin Cavanaugh, a congressional candidate at the time, in addressing the incident with Martel to the media. As of the update of this profile, it is unknown whether the contention between Holden and Martel was ever resolved.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/faculty/ciccariello-maher-george.php">Dr. George Ciccariello-Maher</a> is a Visiting Scholar of Decolonizing Humanities and Modern Languages and Literatures at the College of William and Mary. He previously taught in the Department of History and Politics at Drexel University.

From the College of William and Mary's website, his work at the Decolonizing Humanities Project is <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/decoloniality/index.php">described</a> as exploring, “how colonization, modernity, capitalism, and, most recently, neoliberalism has displaced an array of modes of living, thinking and being.  Decoloniality reveals “the dark side of modernity” and how it is built “on the backs” of “others.”

Ciccarello first came to notoriety for his racially inflammatory statements on twitter. On Christmas of 2016, he <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/philly/news/Drexel-officials-Professor-George-Ciccariello-Mahers-White-Genocide-tweet-was-utterly-reprehensible.html">tweeted</a> out,

“All I want for Christmas is White Genocide,”

and,

“To clarify: when the whites were massacred during the Haitian Revolution, that was a  good thing indeed.”

He also tweeted out,

“Some guy gave up his first-class seat for a uniformed soldier. People are thanking him. I’m trying not to vomit or yell about Mosul.”

When Ciccariello was confronted by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndkvgmGIQHQ">Tucker Carlson</a> over his tweets, he only proceeded to double-down. In the following exchange, he defended the academic veracity of his tweets by claiming, “performance art is scholarship.”

Ciccariello doesn’t shy away from utilizing violence to accomplish his radical beliefs. In an op-ed for <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/05/04/riots_work_wolf_blitzer_and_the_washington_post_completely_missed_the_real_lesson_from_baltimore/">Salon</a>, he praised the riots that had engulfed Baltimore in 2015 in an article titled “Riots Work.” He wrote, “without the threat of insurgency in the streets, no charges would ever have been brought in the murder of Freddie Gray.” Obviously not a proponent of police, Ciccariello openly <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/04/24/we_must_disband_the_police_body_cameras_arent_enough_only_radical_change_will_stop_cops_who_kill/">advocates</a> for the abolishment of police forces, describing them as, “originally slavecatchers.”

When not calling for the disbandment of our law enforcement, Ciccariello is an ardent defender of the socialist regime in Venezuela. He regularly <a href="https://www.counterpunch.org/2013/04/12/thatcher-is-dead-long-live-chavez/">praises</a> Hugo Chavez and has bizarrely <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhYz1owM-uA&amp;feature=youtu.be">claimed</a> that Venezuela does not have corrupt elections.

Ciccariello doesn’t shy away from violent groups as well. In order to fight white-nationalism, Ciccarello called on Americans to embrace the radical group ANTIFA in an interview with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTv_hqjrmi8&amp;feature=youtu.be">Democracy Now</a> following the El Paso mass shooting. Although committed by a stated white nationalist, in the same interview Ciccariello placed the blame on Donald Trump for the deaths, claiming that his rhetoric on immigrants inspired the shooter’s rampage.  Ciccariello made similar accusations in a prior <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTv_hqjrmi8&amp;feature=youtu.be">interview</a> about the Texas Church Massacre, alluding that “whiteness” and Trump’s stoking of white victimhood was to blame for the murders.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/confuciusinstitute/aboutwmci/index.php">Jennifer Stevenson</a> is a member of the Faculty Advisory Committee of the Confucius Institute in addition to serving as the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, the Director of the American Legal System Graduate Program, and a Professor of the Practice of Law at the College of William and Mary.

Steve Kuel is a Professor of Marine Science at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science as well as a member of the Faculty Advisory Committee for the Confucious Institute for the College of William and Mary.

Jeremy Martin is an Associate Provost, Chief of Staff to the President and a member of the Faculty Advisory Committee at the  Confucious Institute of the College of William and Mary.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/confuciusinstitute/aboutwmci/index.php">Teresa V. Longo</a> is an Advisor for the Confucious Institute College of William and Mary as well as the Dean for Interdisciplinary Studies, Director of the Charles Center, and a Professor of Hispanic Studies.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/confuciusinstitute/aboutwmci/index.php">Xingwei Miao</a> is an Advisor with the Confucious Institute of the Colleg of William and Mary from Beijing Normal University where he is the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/confuciusinstitute/aboutwmci/index.php">Kai Xiao</a> is from Beijing Normal University and is the Director of the Office of Confucius Institute Affairs at the College of William and Mary

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/as/americanstudies/graduate/graddirectory/smoot_k.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kelsey Smoot</a> is a PH.D. Candidate in American Studies at the College of William &amp; Mary in Virginia.

In June 2020, Smoot penned an article for <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jun/29/white-people-ally-black-people-sacrifice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Guardian</a> titled, “White people say they want to be an ally to Black people. But are they ready for sacrifice?” In the piece, she argues that white Americans are unwilling to change any of their behaviors or attitudes in a way that would benefit black people. 

The piece was written in the midst of nationwide riots following George Floyd's death. While acknowledging that many of her white friends reached out to offer money and protect her “energy and emotional labor,” Smoot still accuses whites of silence, and therefore compliance, regarding white supremacy: 
“Unfortunately, good deeds will not dismantle systemic oppression. White kindness was unable to spare the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, nor any of the countless other victims of White supremacy in our nation’s history.”
If whites wanted to perform true anti-racist work, Smoot argues, they should be willing to sacrifice future pay raises and close friendships for people of color: 
“Real allyship enacted by White Americans, with a clear objective to make equitable the lived experiences of individuals across racial lines, means a willingness to lose things….Refusing a pay raise at one’s job and insisting that it be reallocated to co-workers of color who are undoubtedly being underpaid. The loss of potentially every close relationship with other White friends and family members who refuse to acknowledge or amend their behaviors that reinforce systemic oppression.”
Smoot concludes that white people will never be willing to sacrifice their privilege, so all she can do is “prepare for another day of navigating White America.”

In another article written from that summer, Smoot <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jul/04/juneteenth-not-the-fourth-of-july-was-the-real-independence-day">announces that she will no longer celebrate the Fourth of July</a>, as it represents an “exclusionary nationalist narrative.” Smoot writes that in adulthood, the idea of the holiday became “untenable” once she learned of America’s oppressive history:
“But as I moved into adulthood, learned the expansive and ongoing history of American imperialism, experienced blatant racism, homophobia, and transphobia, and internalized that my ancestors were held in bondage and considered chattel far beyond the date and year that I was supposed to consider the demarcation of American “freedom”, the idea of celebrating the holiday became untenable.”
Smoot further writes that she cannot celebrate America’s birth as she may be martyred in its current climate:
“In this current climate, as a Black American who is also queer and trans* identified, there is not a day that goes by when I don’t feel fear….I fear that my name might become a hashtag – my death made a viral internet sensation by onlookers recording my final breaths, as my life is taken by someone who swore to serve and protect me.” 
Smoot—<a href="https://queerinsomniac.me/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">who identifies as a “Black, queer, trans-masculine, and non-binary writer</a>”—has even shunned close family members and friends who incorrectly used her pronouns (they-them). In an article written for <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/misgendering-they-them-pronouns-nonbinary_n_6269a65de4b01131b11e407e">HuffPost</a>, Smoot states that she is becoming increasingly intolerant of anyone mistakenly misgendering him, claiming that refusing to do so nullifies her identity. Acknowledging that she will lose the people closest to him, Smoot concludes this is still the proper course of action as “trans and nonbinary people are worth the effort.”

According to her biography, Smoot's research interests encompass “queer studies, race/racism, cultural studies, and social movements.” Smoot further blogs and writes poetry on her personal site, <a href="https://queerinsomniac.me/blog" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Queer Insomniac’s Musings</a>.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/faculty/sheehi-s.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stephen Sheehi</a> is the Sultan Qaboos Eminent Professor of Middle East Studies at the College of William &amp; Mary. Dr. Sheehi also serves as the Faculty Director of the “Decolonizing Humanities Project.”

Although his position falls under the Humanities Department, the <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">official site for the project</a> states the field should not have to justify its “economic or practical values in higher education.” Rather, Sheehi argues that humanities are used for “tooling” students to participate in “irredeemable,” racist systems that perpetuate inequality: 

“The Decolonizing Humanities Project understands that the Humanities are structured by and complicit with the legacies of racism, sexism, patriarchy, settler-colonialism and colonialism.” 

Sheehi then accuses America of being built on land stolen from Native Americans.  The university, he claims, likewise continues to benefit from the labor of “kidnapped and enslaved Africans:”

“Decolonizing Humanities Project seeks to dismantle forms of settler-colonialism and racism, with special attention to anti-black and anti-indigenous racism, and how they continue to structure our lives in the university, Virginia, and the settler-colonial state now known as the United States.“

Sheehi states that higher education further perpetuates racial capitalism in the “settler colonial state known as the United States.” He vows to dismantle settler colonialism and capitalism through a process known as “decoloniality.” 

Under the tab, “<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/decoloniality/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">What is Decoloniality?</a>” Sheehi defines it as the study of the “matrix” of power and oppression created by colonialism. He then claims that colonialism’s effects can still be felt today as modern society was “built on the backs of others.” 

Decoloniality reveals "the dark side of modernity" and how it is built "on the backs" of "others," others that modernity racializes, erases, and/or objectifies. 

Continuing:

“(Decolonialism is) a way to explore colonization, settler-colonialism, racial capitalism (particularly as it grew out, in full racializing force,  with the enslavement of black Africans), modernity, and, most recently, neoliberalism and necrocapitalism and the ways in which they have displaced an array of modes of living, thinking and being in our natural world.”

Dr. Sheehi concludes by calling for the disruption of “settler-colonial logic” and decentering of “hetero-cisnormativity, gender hierarchies, and racial privilege.” 

The web page further lists a myriad of radical groups under the “<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/resources/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Resources</a>” column. One of them—titled, “DecolonizeThisPlace,”—is a violent, Antifa-aligned organization that is led by professor <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/aminhusain" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amin Hussein</a>. A 2020 riot by the group resulted in 13 arrests and $100,000 in damages.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/as/english/facultystaff/tsai_a.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Addie Tsai</a> is an Assistant Teaching Professor of English in the Arts &amp; Sciences department at the College of William and Mary. His “Areas of Specialization” include “Dance Studies,” “Masculinities Studies,” “Black Studies, “Gender Studies” and “Queer Studies.”

After the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack against Israel, Tsai was featured in <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article/while-universities-refuse-to-fire-anti-semites-the-private-sector-holds-them-accountable/24277" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a> after adding his signature to <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oU0LTAsKiGOMxfXnKcxpw-GJV6w5uiMP/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an open statement</a> that said:
“We are writers who unequivocally stand with Palestine and its fight for liberation against the illegal occupation of Israel and the violent settler colonial apartheid state. We strongly condemn the response of [W]estern media and political actors at all levels of government in their dissemination of misinformation and propaganda, intended to manufacture consent for the genocide of Palestinian people.”
The statement goes on to say:
“Islamophobic, genocidal, anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian rhetoric are all rooted in the languages we use. It is our responsibility to lay bare how language has been used to obscure and preserve the ongoing settler colonial project outside Gaza…”
The signatories' list of political declarations includes:
<ul>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“The resistance is an ongoing response to a long history of ethnic cleansing of Palestinians” and </li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Politicians at all levels of government internationally, primarily those in the [W]est, are deliberately weaponizing islamophobia and orientalist language in order to manufacture consent for genocide in Palestine.” </li>

During the fall semester of 2021, the university <a href="https://www.coursicle.com/unc/courses/HIST/277/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offered a class titled, “The Conflict over Israel/Palestine” that was to be taught by Broderick.</a> The Algemeiner soon highlighted tweets from Broderick’s personal account—now deleted—<a href="https://www.algemeiner.com/2021/09/06/on-the-unc-college-campus-antisemitism-marches-on/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one of which derided the idea there could be “2 sides” in a conflict</a>. She vowed to dissuade her students from trusting “oppressive” Zionism and American Imperialism, as there is “only one legitimate side.”

BDS—short for Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions—supporters embrace the following three tenets as a feature of the campaign:
&#8211; Boycotting all goods that originate from the state of Israel;
&#8211; Divesting all funds (private or public) that are allocated to Israel; and
&#8211; Placing sanctions exclusively on Israel.
In an op-ed, Broderick <a href="https://www.algemeiner.com/2021/08/03/more-anti-israel-hatred-infests-the-university-of-north-carolina/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused Israel of ethnic cleansing via “colonial settler-violence”</a> and urged the UNC community to boycott all Israeli products. <a href="https://www.jadaliyya.com/Details/31063/Over-100-Middle-East-Studies-Scholars-and-Librarians-Call-for-the-Boycott-of-Israeli-Academic-Institutions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">She is also a signatory to a 2014 resolution calling for a boycott of Israeli universities.</a>
After purging many of her original tweets, Broderick announced a return to Twitter at the end of 2021. Blaming her absence on “hasbara targeting”—used as a euphemism to accuse Jews of spreading propaganda on behalf of Israel—Broderick remained unrepentant and vowed to continue agitating on behalf of Palestine.

Since the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack against Israel that left 1,200 people dead, several protests have erupted at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). 
During the September 2024 riot, UNC students staged a pro-Palestine “walkout” that resulted in several thousands of dollars in vandalism and property damage. According to <a href="https://www.cbs17.com/news/local-news/orange-county-news/disruption-vandalism-on-uncs-campus-after-walk-out-for-pro-palestinian-protests-officials/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one report</a>, nearly 150 people gathered to protest on the Wilson Library steps. Event promoters and sponsors were identified as the UNC Students for Justice for Palestine and TransparUNCy Graduate Students for the Liberation of Palestine.
Angry crowd members stormed into campus buildings yelling and disrupting classes and business operations. Protestors raised a Palestinian flag and used spray paint and permanent markers on the buildings.

News sources said UNC officials and local law enforcement were conducting ongoing investigations into the riot incidents. The university is also considering new protest policies prohibiting gatherings within a certain distance of building entry/exit points and banning overnight encampments.

<a href="http://comm.unc.edu/faculty-and-staff/faculty/michael-s-waltman/">Dr. Michael Waltman</a>, a Professor of Communications at University of North Carolina, teaches a course on hate speech that blames conservatives for hate speech. His course description reads that it is designed “to expose students to the nature of hate in American life . . . [that] is sustained through the imposition of racist, sexist, and heterosexist ideologies."

Dr. <a href="https://asianstudies.unc.edu/people/faculty/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dwayne Dixon</a> is a Professor in the <a href="https://asianstudies.unc.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies</a> at the  <a href="https://www.unc.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill</a>.

Dr. Dixon is <a href="https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-01-15/redneck-revolt-and-the-hard-lefts-call-to-arms/9303758?nw=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a member</a> of the ANTIFA group known as <a href="https://www.redneckrevolt.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Redneck Revolt."</a> Describing itself as a <a href="https://www.redneckrevolt.org/principles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“revolutionary” organization</a>, Redneck Revolt advocates for training and using firearms to be used for “communal self-defense” and the “right of militant resistance.” The organization openly declares they “are not pacifists,” and support the abolition of prisons, national borders, police, private property, and capitalism.

Dr. Dixon advocates for the use of violence and justifies the destruction of private property. Speaking to ABC News, he makes the <a href="https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-01-15/dwayne-dixon-takes-care-of-his-gun-in-his-workshop/9321726?nw=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">"distinction” between destroying “inanimate objects" and attacking people after stating that the left uses violence in the cases of “resistance</a>.”

In a lecture delivered at Harvard University in 2018, Dr. Dixon <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0dgg9dXLm0&amp;ab_channel=HarvardCarrCenterforHumanRightsPolicy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">describes slaveholders as “white-supremacist capitalists” and analogous to corporate bosses</a>. Arguing that neither would give up their property peacefully, he echoes the call for “active resistance” by Redneck Revolt to achieve liberation.

In the same lecture, Dr. Dixon decries various conservatives who were extended the opportunity to speak at colleges around the country. He equates universities' embrace of free speech to the facilitation of the rise of fascism in America. Dr. Dixon further derides the “politics of passivity” of those who embrace the merits of debating all ideas within a university, stating the moral high ground is “for those who wish to drown in blood.”

In his remarks, Dr. Dixon is referring to a cadre of Marxist and ANTIFA activists that previously toppled a Confederate statue during a riot in Durham, North Carolina. <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20180907092632/https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/sep/6/dwayne-dixon-chapel-hill-instructor-accused-of-hit/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Dixon has previously attended</a> and been<a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/unc-keeps-an-antifa-type-on-its-faculty/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> arrested twice</a> for his actions at similar protests. His first arrest was related to illegally carrying a firearm during a march. His second arrest relates to his assault on a journalist covering the toppling of a Confederate statue.

In an op-ed, Broderick <a href="https://www.algemeiner.com/2021/08/03/more-anti-israel-hatred-infests-the-university-of-north-carolina/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused Israel of ethnic cleansing via “colonial settler-violence”</a> and urged the UNC community to boycott all Israeli products. <a href="https://www.jadaliyya.com/Details/31063/Over-100-Middle-East-Studies-Scholars-and-Librarians-Call-for-the-Boycott-of-Israeli-Academic-Institutions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">She is also a signatory to a 2014 resolution calling for a boycott of Israeli universities.</a>

After purging many of her original tweets, Broderick announced a return to Twitter at the end of 2021. Blaming her absence on “hasbara targeting”—used as a euphemism to accuse Jews of spreading propaganda on behalf of Israel—Broderick remained unrepentant and vowed to continue agitating on behalf of Palestine.

Since the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack against Israel that left 1,200 people dead, several protests have erupted at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). 

During the September 2024 riot, UNC students staged a pro-Palestine “walkout” that resulted in several thousands of dollars in vandalism and property damage. According to <a href="https://www.cbs17.com/news/local-news/orange-county-news/disruption-vandalism-on-uncs-campus-after-walk-out-for-pro-palestinian-protests-officials/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one report</a>, nearly 150 people gathered to protest on the Wilson Library steps. Event promoters and sponsors were identified as the UNC Students for Justice for Palestine and TransparUNCy Graduate Students for the Liberation of Palestine.

Angry crowd members stormed into campus buildings yelling and disrupting classes and business operations. Protestors raised a Palestinian flag and used spray paint and permanent markers on the buildings.

<a href="https://directory.sph.umn.edu/bio/sph-a-z/rachel-hardeman" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rachel Hardeman</a> is the Blue Cross Endowed Professor of Health and Racial Equity at the University of Minnesota. Hardeman’s university profile describes her as a “reproductive health equity researcher” who “leverages the frameworks of critical race theory and reproductive justice to inform her equity-centered work.” Hardeman is also the Founding Director of the Center for Antiracism Research for Health Equity and serves on the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood of the North Central States.
In October 2022, Hardeman and two other researchers penned an article titled “<a href="https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2209737" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Abortion Access as a Racial Justice Issue</a>.” The authors argue that abortion is “essential for protecting the full humanity of anyone with the capacity for pregnancy.” The paper claims that, within the United States, “the full humanity of Black and Indigenous people has long been denied.” Hardeman et al. conclude:
“We believe that clinicians have a professional obligation to champion policies that improve the lives of their patients and potential patients, including doing whatever is in their power to expand and protect abortion access. Abortion access is a racial justice issue, and it is today’s civil rights battle worthy of tenacious engagement by professionals in medicine, policy, and public health.” 
Hardeman co-developed a <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/black-birthing-people-course-offered-by-u-of-minn-planned-parenthood-board-member/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">continuing education course</a> for health professionals titled “Dignity in Pregnancy &amp; Childbirth: Preventing Racial Bias in Perinatal Care.” The <a href="https://www.diversityscience.org/proven-elearning-2/minnesota-perinatal-care/#MN-Individual" target="_blank" rel="noopener">course website</a> says the goal is to give medical care providers the knowledge they need to ensure that “Black and Indigenous women and birthing people receive fully equitable patient-centered, respectful, high-quality care free of bias and discrimination.” Through the course:
“[H]ealthcare professionals have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the impact of structural racism on the health and healthcare of Black and Indigenous birthing people. They will learn strategies to interrupt institutional racism and racial bias and protect the health and well-being of Black and Indigenous mothers, birthing people, and infants.” 
One <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/684704097/Critical-Race-Practice-Clinicians-Guide" target="_blank" rel="noopener">handout</a> for the course discusses how clinical care providers can apply a “critical race lens to relationship-centered care in pregnancy and childbirth.”

Hardeman <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/minnesota-professor-receives-800k-to-study-racialized-police-violence-and-pregnancy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">received $800,000 in grant funding</a> to study “racialized police violence” and its association with “adverse reproductive health outcomes.” The project—titled “Community Events and Pathways to Inequities in Birth Outcomes”—has a timeline from April 2021 to March 2025 and promises to “[center] racism as a fundamental cause of health inequities.” Hardeman stated:
“The findings will offer a more complete picture of the ways that community trauma, structural racism, individual-level physical and mental health consequences, and population-level disparities affect reproductive health outcomes.” 
In December 2021, Hardeman authored a paper that <a href="https://pop.umn.edu/about/announcements/over-policing-linked-higher-odds-preterm-birth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">linked preterm births to “racist policing.”</a> The study’s results “suggest that racialized police patterns borne from a history of structural racism in the United States may contribute to racial disparity in [preterm births].” However, Hardeman et al. admit, “We did not (and would not have been able to) ascertain whether the pregnant people in our study had personal contact with the police before or during pregnancy.”
In an announcement about the study published by the university’s Minnesota Population Center, Hardeman stated:
“Racism is a fundamental cause of health inequity, which means we have to apply antiracism to institutions that affect the fundamentals of our lives and communities. Our research focused on residents of Minneapolis and found that U.S.-born Black birthing people and their babies were hit the hardest by over-policing, which is a form of structural racism.”

Wayne Bendickson, also known as <a href="https://cla.umn.edu/about/directory/profile/sisoka">Sisoka Duta</a>, is a Professor in Native American Studies at the University of Minnesota. Bendickson requires all of his students to pick a topic from a list, which includes ‘why Native American mascots should be banned from sports,’ and explain in the assignment why it is important. A counter-argument was not allowed.

<a href="https://cla.umn.edu/ais/people/faculty">Dr. Nick Estes</a> is an Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota. He is the founder of <a href="https://therednation.org/blog/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Red Nation</a> blog and hosts a podcast with the same name. 

Dr. Estes has called for the dissolution of the United States, praised communism, and castigates white people. 

Referring to the United States as a settler colonial nation, Dr. Estes states that America is committed to the destruction of native Americans. In an article for The Guardian, Dr. Estes describes the country <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/apr/27/only-racist-ignorance-lets-rick-santorum-think-america-was-birthed-from-nothing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">as a “white supremacist empire,” and a “savage nation built on untold violence” against indigenous people</a>. 

“The erasure of Native histories and peoples – which existed long before and despite a white supremacist empire – is a founding principle of the United States. In fact, it’s still codified in US law.” 

Dr. Estes’s world views are encapsulated in The Red Nation’s <a href="https://therednation.org/10-point-program/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“10 Point Program,”</a> which calls for the following: 

- Return of all the nation’s land to the “original caretakers” or tribes, which would dissolve the United States. 

- Abolish all police, which Estes describes as “Indian killers” and the “foot soldiers of US occupation, racism, and misogyny.” 

- Abolish the “racist system” of capitalism.   

Dr. Estes elsewhere advocates for the total erasure of national borders. Among the demands listed on the “<a href="https://therednation.org/caucuses/beyond-borders-caucus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Beyond Border Caucus</a>”—which is hosted on The Red Nation’s website—Estes calls for abolishing all borders but specifically cites America and Israel for elimination. 

In a blog post titled, <a href="https://therednation.org/the-liberation-of-palestine-represents-an-alternative-path-for-native-nations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“The Liberation of Palestine Represents an Alternative Path for Native Nations,”</a> Dr. Estes urges his readers to support Arab “resistance in any and all forms” against Israel. This includes the adoption of the BDS movement, which embraces the following tenets: 

- Boycotting all goods that originate from the state of Israel;

- Divesting all funds (private or public) that are allocated to Israel; and

- Placing sanctions exclusively on Israel.

His post further demands the “Right of Return,” which calls for the forcible relocation of over 7 million self-identifying Palestinian “refugees” into Israel’s current borders. This would demographically swamp Israel and transform it into a majority-Arab state.  

Dr. Estes further cites <a href="https://therednation.org/revolutionary-socialism-is-the-primary-political-ideology-of-the-red-nation-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“revolutionary socialism</a>” as the “primary political ideology of the Red Nation.” He declares Communism the “greatest expression of love,” and promises that socialism will replace capitalism once the latter is destroyed. 

Throughout the site, the Hammer and Sickle is <a href="http://therednation.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">displayed prominently</a>. The symbol was the insignia of the Soviet Union, which was responsible for as many as <a href="https://fee.org/articles/the-staggering-toll-of-the-russian-revolution/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">61 million deaths</a>.

Back in 2017, this curriculum was taught throughout several classroom discussions. Additionally, the passage encourages educators to introduce and incorporate strategies, lessons and talks about gender issues, sexuality, and more. “We decided to include information about the various lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities as well, given our assumption that students would already bring this topic into the overall conversation with their questions.”</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><a href="https://journals.sagepub.com/stoken/rbtfl/2yE4fgIww6IMs/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Critical Pedagogy Enacted in the Gay Straight Alliance: New Possibilities for a Third Space in Teacher Development</a>. Mayo argues “that the GSA advisor at Freedom High School utilized pedagogy that is critical at its core and led to effective, transformative learning outcomes for student GSA members. This pedagogy is characterized by students’ (a) access to information and issues that are important to queer youth, (b) participation in schoolwide and community-focused activities, and (c) reflections upon significant incidents in their lives when they encountered and responded to homophobia.”</li>

<a href="https://cla.umn.edu/about/directory/profile/yazzi014" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Melanie Yazzie</a> is an Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota. According to her university profile, she writes and teaches about numerous topics including “Indigenous feminisms,” “queer Indigenous studies,” and “Marxism.”

Yazzie participated in a December 2023 <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/professor-calls-dismantling-us-greatest-predator-empire-1855115" target="_blank" rel="noopener">panel discussion</a> with fellow University of Minnesota professor <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/nickestes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nick Estes</a> titled “From Minnesota to Palestine.” During the event, Yazzie <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/professors-u-s-a-genocidal-settler-colonial-state-that-needs-to-be-dismantled/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called for people to “dismantle” and “decolonize” the United States</a>:
“And what we really want you to take away tonight … We’re all indigenous people who come from nations that are under occupation by the United States government. And of course, the U.S. bank rules the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land. They’re one in the same, really.” 
“And so, it’s our responsibility as people who are within the United States to go as hard as possible to decolonize this place. Because that will reverberate all across the world. Because the U.S. is the greatest predator empire that has ever existed. So we want [the] U.S. out of everywhere … and the goal is to dismantle the settler project that is the United States.” 
Yazzie also argued that giving <a href="https://alphanews.org/u-of-m-professor-i-hope-you-seek-to-dismantle-the-united-states/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">land back to Native Americans</a> is “non-negotiable” and “is going to happen.”
“The United States, also built on stolen land like the settler nation of Israel, does not have the authority to speak in this place and on this land. It is the Indigenous people, who belong to Indigenous nations that predate the advent of the United States and that will be here after the United States is gone, that have the authority.” 
The panel discussion was hosted by <a href="https://therednation.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Red Nation</a>, which, according to its website, is “dedicated to the liberation of Native peoples from capitalism and colonialism.” Estes is a co-founder of the organization and Yazzie hosts a podcast through The Red Nation called the Red Power Hour. The group’s Principles of Unity declare:
“We are anti-capitalist and anti-colonial. We are Indigenous feminists who believe in radical relationality. We do not seek a milder form of capitalism or colonialism - we demand an entirely new system premised on peace, cooperation, and justice. For our Earth and relatives to live, capitalism and colonialism must die.” 
When Yazzie was a PhD student at the University of New Mexico, she was outspoken against the school seal, which features a conquistador and a frontiersman. At a <a href="https://www.liberationnews.org/activists-speak-out-against-racist-seal-university-president-stands-with-racism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">protest over the school seal</a> in 2016, Yazzie stated: “[Then-University of New Mexico President] Bob Frank you have blood on your hands! We are going to keep holding this university accountable until it concedes to our demands!”

<a href="https://directory.sph.umn.edu/bio/sph-a-z/rachel-hardeman" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rachel Hardeman</a> is the Blue Cross Endowed Professor of Health and Racial Equity at the University of Minnesota. Hardeman’s university profile describes her as a “reproductive health equity researcher” who “leverages the frameworks of critical race theory and reproductive justice to inform her equity-centered work.” Hardeman is also the Founding Director of the Center for Antiracism Research for Health Equity and serves on the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood of the North Central States.

In October 2022, Hardeman and two other researchers penned an article titled “<a href="https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2209737" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Abortion Access as a Racial Justice Issue</a>.” The authors argue that abortion is “essential for protecting the full humanity of anyone with the capacity for pregnancy.” The paper claims that, within the United States, “the full humanity of Black and Indigenous people has long been denied.” Hardeman et al. conclude:
“We believe that clinicians have a professional obligation to champion policies that improve the lives of their patients and potential patients, including doing whatever is in their power to expand and protect abortion access. Abortion access is a racial justice issue, and it is today’s civil rights battle worthy of tenacious engagement by professionals in medicine, policy, and public health.” 
Hardeman co-developed a <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/black-birthing-people-course-offered-by-u-of-minn-planned-parenthood-board-member/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">continuing education course</a> for health professionals titled “Dignity in Pregnancy &amp; Childbirth: Preventing Racial Bias in Perinatal Care.” The <a href="https://www.diversityscience.org/proven-elearning-2/minnesota-perinatal-care/#MN-Individual" target="_blank" rel="noopener">course website</a> says the goal is to give medical care providers the knowledge they need to ensure that “Black and Indigenous women and birthing people receive fully equitable patient-centered, respectful, high-quality care free of bias and discrimination.” Through the course:
“[H]ealthcare professionals have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the impact of structural racism on the health and healthcare of Black and Indigenous birthing people. They will learn strategies to interrupt institutional racism and racial bias and protect the health and well-being of Black and Indigenous mothers, birthing people, and infants.” 
One <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/684704097/Critical-Race-Practice-Clinicians-Guide" target="_blank" rel="noopener">handout</a> for the course discusses how clinical care providers can apply a “critical race lens to relationship-centered care in pregnancy and childbirth.”

Hardeman <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/minnesota-professor-receives-800k-to-study-racialized-police-violence-and-pregnancy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">received $800,000 in grant funding</a> to study “racialized police violence” and its association with “adverse reproductive health outcomes.” The project—titled “Community Events and Pathways to Inequities in Birth Outcomes”—has a timeline from April 2021 to March 2025 and promises to “[center] racism as a fundamental cause of health inequities.” Hardeman stated:
“The findings will offer a more complete picture of the ways that community trauma, structural racism, individual-level physical and mental health consequences, and population-level disparities affect reproductive health outcomes.” 
In December 2021, Hardeman authored a paper that <a href="https://pop.umn.edu/about/announcements/over-policing-linked-higher-odds-preterm-birth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">linked preterm births to “racist policing.”</a> The study’s results “suggest that racialized police patterns borne from a history of structural racism in the United States may contribute to racial disparity in [preterm births].” However, Hardeman et al. admit, “We did not (and would not have been able to) ascertain whether the pregnant people in our study had personal contact with the police before or during pregnancy.”

In an announcement about the study published by the university’s Minnesota Population Center, Hardeman stated:
“Racism is a fundamental cause of health inequity, which means we have to apply antiracism to institutions that affect the fundamentals of our lives and communities. Our research focused on residents of Minneapolis and found that U.S.-born Black birthing people and their babies were hit the hardest by over-policing, which is a form of structural racism.”

<a href="https://cla.umn.edu/about/directory/profile/sshakhsa" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sima Shakhsari</a> is an Associate Professor in the Department of Gender, Women &amp; Sexuality Studies at the University of Minnesota. Shakhsari’s university profile says she uses the pronouns “they/he/she” and teaches several courses including “Queering Theory” and “Queer and Feminist White Savior Complex.”

Shakhsari was nominated for an associate dean position at the College of Liberal Arts’ Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. As part of the interview process, she gave a one-hour testimony to the university review panel where she <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article/prof-who-denies-hamas-raped-israelis-not-selected-for-top-dei-role/24553" target="_blank" rel="noopener">denied that Hamas committed rape against Israeli women</a> during the October 7 attacks. She claimed she hadn’t seen evidence of sexual violence, stating:
“Of course, any person who has been raped, I am a rape crisis counselor, I believe the survivors. I am yet to see Israeli rape survivors of Hamas come and speak.” 
Shakhsari went on to claim it’s racist to say that Hamas committed rape.
“Part of our work and part of my experience… was how men of color in the U.S. have been demonized and have been falsely accused of rape. Exactly because of racism. We know the history of lynching, of black men, lynching, of indigenous man lynching Latinos in this country… because of accusations and they’re kind of violating the innocence of white women, right?” 
“And I think this is also the force that is repeated in the context of Israel and Palestine, because Arab men have been demonized and have been marked as monstrous people who are rapists and for violence.” 
Shakhsari did not end up getting the associate dean position, which was instead given to Amelious Whyte.

<a href="https://jewishinsider.com/2023/12/sima-shakhsari-university-of-minnesota-professor-hamas-oct-7-atrocities-denial/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jewish Insider</a> reached out to Shakhsari for comment and received an automatic email reply signed, “I stand with the people of Palestine in their struggle for freedom and justice, and condemn the Israeli state’s settler colonial violence and genocide in Gaza.”

In October 2023, University of Minnesota Interim President Jeff Ettinger <a href="https://www.startribune.com/tensions-on-minnesota-campuses-rise-as-colleges-and-universities-grapple-with-the-israel-hamas-war/600317258/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued a statement condemning the Hamas attacks</a> and lamenting “the countless innocent civilians who have lost their lives, been injured, or are being held captive.” Shakhsari was one of several faculty members who penned an <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSewuCmiruS5i9Fo3Av1OdOlVi5vE9KZLGB0ww4mLUjnZikqVQ/viewform?vc=0&amp;c=0&amp;w=1&amp;flr=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">open letter</a> to Ettinger calling his statement “biased” and demanding an apology.

The letter, which was signed by over 750 university faculty and staff, stated:
“Our university’s Interim President Jeff Ettinger has issued biased statements condemning Hamas, but not holding the Israeli state responsible for its violent crimes against Palestinians … Ettinger’s statements, while intended to address the recent situation, have presented a one-sided perspective showing solidarity and concern only for Israel with no acknowledgment of the ongoing and historical suffering and death of Palestinians.” 
The letter demands an apology from President Ettinger and if one is not received, the signatories call for his statement to “be treated as an incident that merits bias reporting and investigation.”

<a href="https://www.hhh.umn.edu/directory/christina-ewig" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christina Ewig</a> is a Professor of Public Affairs and Faculty Director of the Center on Women, Gender and Public Policy at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. According to her university profile, Ewig teaches courses on Gender and Public Policy. She is also a curator for the <a href="https://www.hhh.umn.edu/directory/christina-ewig" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gender Policy Report</a> at the University of Minnesota.

Among Ewig’s academic interests are “gender, race and Latin American social policy including the historical formation of Latin American social policy; the politics and effects of market-oriented social policy reforms following economic adjustment in the 1990s and 2000s; and the more recent shift toward more generous and equitable social policies.”

Ewig’s <a href="https://www.hhh.umn.edu/directory/christina-ewig" target="_blank" rel="noopener">X profile</a> biography states, “I tweet about Gender and Politics, US and Latin America.” She goes by the pronouns of “She/her/hers.”

In an interview with <a href="https://www.genderjustice.us/its-time-to-invest-in-resilience-a-conversation-with-erin-maye-quade-and-dr-christina-ewig/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gender Justice</a>, Ewig discussed masculinity and its relation to the actions of men amid national health crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, stating:
“[For instance], hand washing – [they] do not do that, wash their hands. And part of this is like the idea – Well, I’m resilient, and I’m strong so I don’t need to do these things.”
She claims that this resistance to taking health measures such as washing hands “has been inculcated in our society among men and boys.”

Ewig discusses gender on an institutional level and how it allegedly affects the socioeconomic status of the United States: 
“So I think really gender also, the third level I would talk about is really the institutional level, the way in which gender over the long-term through a variety of different practices – structures our society, structures our economy, and that’s really where state and national policy makers can step in and try to generate policies that can address these disparities that we’re seeing, whether it is of disparities care work or whether it is also other disparities that we’re also seeing in the economy in particular, as a result of this crisis.”
Toward the end of the interview, Ewig claims that various health crises in America have shown certain “structural inequalities” within the nation:
“I think that if there’s one thing that this crisis is showing us, it is showing the degree to which we have deep, deep inequalities within this country whether gender or race or class, and it’s showing the damage that those inequalities are doing to our resilience long-term, so shoring up our resilience as a nation in terms of facing another crisis of this sort will require investment, instead of austerity.”

In 2024, Brunello authored a <a href="https://scholar.eckerd.edu/esploro/outputs/conferencePaper/The-Damage-Done-Right-Wing-Erosion-of/992776826206111?institution=01ECKERD_INST#file-0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">paper</a> called “The Damage Done: Right-Wing Erosion of Legitimacy from Reagan to Trump in America.” Within the context of his discussion on dictators, fascism, and authoritarianism, Brunello says:
“Tyrants break confidence in democracy by constantly attacking government as wasteful, incompetent, and illegitimate. In that way, the tyrant can effectively claim that, since all politicians and government are corrupt, then the strongman is free to act with brazen ferocity in dismantling institutions and laws in populist outrage and mobocracy…
“There are many would-be extreme rightwing movements and leaders dotted around the world all utilizing some version of the methodology. In the United States, the conservative movement slowly evolved in this direction…In the 21st Century, the Tea Party Movement (2008) was transformed into MAGA (2016) (Make America Great Again) under Donald Trump.”
In the paper, Brunello also discussed the <a href="https://immigrationforum.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Replacement-Theory-Explainer-1122.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Great Replacement Theory</a> in the context of America, stating that it “refers to a plot to welcome immigrants, especially among non-white, non-Christian people, to replace the political power and culture of [w]hite people in Western countries.” He declared that since “true believers” are afraid of immigrants replacing white people the theory is “antisemitic, xenophobic, racist and nativist.”

Dr. <a href="https://www.colorado.edu/ethnicstudies/people/core-faculty/jennifer-ho">Jennifer Ho</a> is a Professor of Asian American Studies and Director of the Center for Humanities &amp; the Arts at the University of Colorado-Boulder. According to her university <a href="https://www.colorado.edu/ethnicstudies/people/core-faculty/jennifer-ho">biography</a>, Professor Ho’s research interests include cultural studies, intersectionality, critical race studies, anti-racist theory, and critical mixed race studies.

Critical Theory, or Critical Race Theory, is an intellectual branch of Marxism that alleges American society and all of its founding institutions are infected with white supremacy. Furthermore, proponents of Critical Race Theory believe that people should take proactive steps to dismantle these institutions in the name of equity, which is also referred to as being “anti-racist.” Some Critical Race Theorists, such as Nikole Hannah-Jones, also <a href="https://reason.com/2020/09/23/1619-project-nikole-hannah-jones-1776-founding-race-new-york-times/">claim</a> that America’s real founding was in 1619 when the first slave stepped foot in North America, and not 1776 when the American colonies declared independence from England.

In an <a href="https://theconversation.com/white-supremacy-is-the-root-of-all-race-related-violence-in-the-us-157566">article</a> for The Conversation, titled, “White Supremacy is the Root of all race-related violence in the US,” Professor Ho alleges that all hate crimes committed in the United States are the result of white supremacy. The article is her response to the March 16th, 2021 <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/3-dead-shooting-georgia-massage-parlor-suspect-loose-n1261262">mass shooting</a> of massage parlors in Atlanta, George, that killed eight people, six of them being Asian-Americans.

Professor Ho attributes not just the March 2021 Atlanta shootings to white supremacy, but she actually attributes all hate crimes to white supremacy, regardless of whether or not they were committed by a white person. In the same <a href="https://theconversation.com/white-supremacy-is-the-root-of-all-race-related-violence-in-the-us-157566">article</a>, Professor Ho lists a series of anti-Asian hate crimes perpetrated by black men before stating that white supremacy is the cause for all of them.

Professor Ho further <a href="https://theconversation.com/white-supremacy-is-the-root-of-all-race-related-violence-in-the-us-157566">describes</a> white supremacy as an ideology “ingrained” into American institutions and the driving force behind the dehumanizing of Asian-Americans as well Black Americans.

The University of Colorado-Boulder features Professor Ho’s work on the College of Arts and Science’s website, in a <a href="https://www.colorado.edu/asmagazine/2020/04/08/anti-asian-racism-and-covid-19">web page</a> titled, “Anti-Asian Racism and Covid-19”. In addition to claiming that “millions” of unarmed black men have been killed by police, Professor Ho also alleges that it is also racist to state that COVID-19 originated in China.

<a href="https://www.colorado.edu/ethnicstudies/people/core-faculty/reiland-rabaka" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Reiland Rabaka</a> is a Professor of Africana Studies as well as Critical Race, Class, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in the <a href="https://www.colorado.edu/ethnicstudies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Department of Ethnic Studies</a> at the <a href="https://www.colorado.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Colorado at Boulder</a>. He also serves as <a href="https://www.colorado.edu/humanities/reiland-rabaka" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of Humanities</a> in the <a href="https://www.colorado.edu/artsandsciences/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">College of Arts and Sciences</a>.

Dr. Rabaka identifies publicly as a “democratic socialist” and a scholar of fields such as “black radical politics,” decolonial theory, and critical race theory. His lectures depict the United States as an inherently white-supremacist nation and herald the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement as a necessary counter to systematic racism.

In a video sponsored by the university, Dr. Rabaka describes American society as having <a href="https://www.coursera.org/lecture/antiracism-2/dr-reiland-rabaka-interventions-in-racist-terminologies-qp12a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">culminated in the “social, economic, spiritual, and cultural” death of black people</a>. He attributes this to our nation's alleged addiction to “black death.”

He repeated this accusation during a lecture for Florida Gulf Coast University’s <a href="https://www.fgcu.edu/ccres/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Center for Critical Race and Ethnic Studies</a>. During the event—hosted by professor and the Center Director, <a href="https://www.fgcu.edu/directory/tthornhill">Dr. Ted Thornill</a>—Dr. Rabaka <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsS6RAfiesI&amp;ab_channel=FGCUUniversityMarketingCommunications" target="_blank" rel="noopener">characterizes the nation as a “colonial project” that was built on racial and economic enslavement</a>.

Dr. Rabaka addresses BLM at length during the Q&amp;A section, characterizing the movement as a response to the nation’s “deeply entrenched racism.” At one point, a member of the audience asks Dr. Rabaka how he would respond if BLM was characterized as a terrorist organization; Rather than answer the question, he proceeds to deflect and counter that Christopher Columbus should be considered a terrorist for committing a “holocaust” against Native Americans. He denounces both the Founding Fathers and Pilgrims in his tirade, accusing each of participating in “racial terrorism.”

Continuing, he urges “white administrators” to invest in BLM-themed curriculums and workshops in order to raise consciousness about the movement. Dr. Rabaka <a href="https://www.colorado.edu/asmagazine/2021/03/02/black-lives-matter-course-aims-foster-campus-transformation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">personally teaches a BLM-themed course at UC-Boulder</a>.

BLM was <a href="https://blacklivesmatter.com/six-years-strong/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">founded following the death</a> of Treyvon Martin and the acquittal of George Zimmerman for his murder. Although purporting to be a civil-rights organization, the movement has been tied to violent confrontations and riots across the country.

According to a <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study conducted by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED)</a>, BLM can be linked to 95% of the riots around the country–notably in Summer 2020 following the death of George Floyd. In an analysis of the study, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Federalist</a> found, “of the 633 incidents coded as riots, 88 percent are recorded as involving Black Lives Matter Activists.” The resulting riots were the largest in American history, <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion." target="_blank" rel="noopener">causing an estimated $2 billion in damages and 47 deaths.</a>

Throughout his lecture, Dr. Rabaka praises Angela Davis and Assata Shakur, whose work he considers instrumental to the BLM movement. Shakur is a former <a href="https://spectatorworld.com/topic/black-lives-matter-praising-terrorist-assata-shakur/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">member of the Black Liberation Army and convicted cop killer</a>. She currently resides in Cuba as a guest of the communist government; authorities have offered 2 million dollars for her capture.

Angela Davis is a former vice-presidential candidate for the Communist Party and early member of the Black Panther Party. Davis is notoriously known for <a href="https://archives.frontpagemag.com/fpm/hollywoods-undying-love-communist-angela-davis-arnold-ahlert/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">her role in the Marin County Civic Center Attack, which left 4 dead</a>.

Another individual Dr. Rabaka praises in his lecture is scholar W.E.B Du Bois. A prominent author at the turn of the 20th century, Du Bois was a life-long adherent to communism, going <a href="https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/stalin/biographies/1953/03/16.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">so far as to eulogize Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin after his death in 1953</a>.

In a separate lecture at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Reiland+Rabaka+" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Rabaka lauds Du Bois specifically for his contributions to socialism</a>. At one point, the professor displays pictures of Du Bois meeting with Nikita Khrushchev and Mao Zedong, hailing both as proof of Du Bois international standing.

<a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Mao-Zedong">Mao</a>—who chaired the Chinese Communist Party from 1935 until his death in 1976—is widely considered one of the deadliest heads of state in history–<a href="https://www.heritage.org/asia/commentary/the-legacy-mao-zedong-mass-murder" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an estimated 65 million Chinese perished from his regime</a>. Mao's deadliest campaign—referred to as the “Great Leap Forward”—<a href="https://www.hudson.org/research/7342-mao-s-great-leap-forward-and-the-power-of-history" target="_blank" rel="noopener">caused an estimated 40 million to die from starvation and overwork in labor camps</a>.

<a href="https://www.tc.columbia.edu/faculty/kf2119/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Karen Froud</a> is an Associate Professor of Neuroscience and Education at the Teachers College of Columbia University in New York City.
In a letter to colleagues, Dr. Froud urged them to boycott Israel and its universities, accusing both of contributing to apartheid-like conditions in the Palestinian territories.
Her remarks were spurred by the comments of another colleague, Gerry Leisman, who asked fellow scientists to continue their reviews for his research. Dr. Talisman is a neuroscientist at the University of Haifa in Israel.

<a href="https://www.tc.columbia.edu/faculty/kf2119/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Karen Froud</a> is an Associate Professor of Neuroscience and Education at the Teachers College of Columbia University in New York City.

In a letter to colleagues, Dr. Froud urged them to boycott Israel and its universities, accusing both of contributing to apartheid-like conditions in the Palestinian territories.

Her remarks were spurred by the comments of another colleague, Gerry Leisman, who asked fellow scientists to continue their reviews for his research. Dr. Talisman is a neuroscientist at the University of Haifa in Israel.

“Hi, 

I am the guest editor of a special issue of the Journal Brain Sciences and we are producing a special issue of the journal entitled, “The Brain Goes to School, details for which can be found at the following link:

https://www.mdpi.com/.../brai.../special_issues/brain_school

We are recruiting both reviews and results of experimental studies that related to human learning, its difficulties, remediation strategies, models, cognitive science, cognitive neuropsychology all essentially attempting to translate 150 years of cognitive neuroscience into classroom Applications [sic].”

In her reply, Dr. Froud urges her colleagues to refuse the request <a href="https://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/2022/03/columbia-bds-professor-little-unclear.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">on the grounds that the University of Haifa is an “apartheid institution,” and adhere to the demands of the “Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement</a>.”

I urge you to consider this request in light of the Boycotts, Divestments, and Sanctions Movement for freedom and justice in Palestine. Like many/most academic institutions in Israel, Haifa University is an apartheid institution.

In 2022, Anna Squires, a reporter for <a href="https://communique.uccs.edu/?p=143136" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Communique</a>, interviewed Kling about her new book, “Racist, Not Racist, Antiracist: Language and the Dynamic Disaster of American Racism.” The book discusses how situations are categorized as either racist, not racist, or antiracist. The authors argue this is a problem because there is no language to describe situations that could be considered in-between. The description states:
“This is especially true for white people, who tend to take claims of racism—be they interpersonal or institutional—as a personal attack. This is problematic, not only because it means that white people never learn about their own racially troubling behaviors, but also because such fragility keeps them from being able to engage in productive discussions about systemic racial oppression.”
The reporter, Anna Squires, said that, “at the heart of the book is the idea that America could become a W.E.B. Du Boisian democracy.” Du Bois was a profound marxist, and Kling argued that his race-centered ideas for society should be introduced in the US, saying:
“To transform the United States into a Du Boisian democracy, we need to create conversational spaces where people can engage in difficult, productive dialogue about the nature of the race-based problems American society faces and potential solutions. For this to happen, we need to find a way to converse with others about race-based incidents without triggering their white fragility. Only then do we have a chance of achieving true democratic equality for all.”

Phansey was the Director of Sustainability at Babson College before <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/01/29/fired-babson-professor-defends-controversial-facebook-post-about-iran/">he was fired</a> from the school.
Phansey suggested in a Facebook post that Iran’s leaders should list 52 cultural sites in the United States to bomb. His post suggested the Mall of America and one of the Kardashian residences as potential targets. 
The comment references then-President Donald Trump’s <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/01/04/trump-doubles-down-on-iran-trading-threats-with-regime/">list of 52 Iranian sites that would be bombed</a> as retaliation if the threats made by Iran’s military to strike American targets were carried out.

<a href="https://www.babson.edu/about/our-leaders-and-scholars/faculty-and-academic-divisions/faculty-profiles/kevin-bruyneel.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kevin Bruyneel</a> is a professor of Politics at Babson College whose areas of study are critical race theory, indigenous studies, racial capitalism, colonialism, and political theory.

On April 7, 2022, Bruyneel wrote that the Atlanta Braves' <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/major-league-baseball-braves-team-name_n_624dee20e4b007d3845e7b9a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Tomahawk chop”</a> celebrates genocide and the theft of Native Lands. He claims that Braves fans perpetuate a “dehumanizing caricature of Native Americans.” He also states that these fans suffer from “settler memory.” According to Bruyneel, “it represents the accompanying belief that indigenous people’s lives today are not relevant.”

<a href="https://www.breitbart.com/sports/2022/04/07/college-professor-claims-braves-tomahawk-chop-is-violence-toward-native-americans/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to Bruyneel, the Tomahawk Chop advances beyond racism and approaches a celebration of genocide. </a>“It is the logic of genocide, and this is what these names, logos, chops, and chants reinforce: the elimination of Indigenous people from these lands.” He continues by stating “the claim of racism thus does not go far enough.”

He ends the article claiming that “these team names and representations honor genocide by another name.” If the team names continue to exist, society will be blind to the “reality and complexity of Indigenous people’s lives and politics.”

Bruyneel also supports the #Landback movement that pushes for Indigenous land to return to Indigenous hands.  <a href="https://twitter.com/kbruyneel/status/1559407973398716417">In a tweet from 2022,</a> he called popular conservative commentator Matt Walsh the “bearded face of fascism.”

In a <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/01/25/how-conservatives-learned-love-big-government/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">perspective piece</a> for The Washington Post, Huntington claims conservatives are “ideologically inconsistent” and flip-flop between hating big government when Democrats are in office while loving big government when Republicans are in the White House. He asserts that conservatives abuse their power and state authority and that those abusive practices are “woven into the very fabric of modern conservatism.”

In <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2021/10/13/manipulating-elections-is-conservative-tradition/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">another perspective piece</a> for The Washington Post, Huntington accuses conservatives of manipulating elections, claiming it’s “conservative tradition.” He claims that engineering elections is part of conservatives’ political heritage, and the idea that Democrats stole the 2020 election is a “central pillar” of conservative politics. He argues that conservatives “game the rules to gain power despite being in the minority.” Huntington believes that the 2020 election wasn’t the first time conservatives disagreed with an election outcome or tried to steal an election.
When Huntington isn’t writing books or articles about conservatives, he often takes to Twitter to show his hostility towards the political right. <a href="https://twitter.com/johnshuntington/status/1352670676302311425" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In a series of tweets</a> from January 2021, Huntington accuses Texas of targeting liberal professors. He also tweeted that conservatives “belly-ache” about ‘cancel culture’ which he believes is just them receiving criticism. The full tweet can be viewed below:

John S. Huntington is a <a href="https://learning.hccs.edu/faculty/john.huntington" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of History</a> at Houston Community College. He teaches several courses ranging from American History to Western Civilization, and he <a href="https://www.upenn.edu/pennpress/book/16253.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently wrote a book titled</a>, “Far-Right Vanguard The Radical Roots of Modern Conservatism.” He has also written publications for The Washington Post.

He asserts that conservatives abuse their power and state authority and that those abusive practices are “woven into the very fabric of modern conservatism.”

In <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2021/10/13/manipulating-elections-is-conservative-tradition/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">another perspective piece</a> for The Washington Post, Huntington accuses conservatives of manipulating elections, claiming it’s “conservative tradition.” He claims that engineering elections is part of conservatives’ political heritage, and the idea that Democrats stole the 2020 election is a “central pillar” of conservative politics. He argues that conservatives “game the rules to gain power despite being in the minority.” Huntington believes that the 2020 election wasn’t the first time conservatives disagreed with an election outcome or tried to steal an election.

When Huntington isn’t writing books or articles about conservatives, he often takes to Twitter to show his hostility towards the political right. <a href="https://twitter.com/johnshuntington/status/1352670676302311425" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In a series of tweets</a> from January 2021, Huntington accuses Texas of targeting liberal professors. “Because race is a social construction, understanding the impact of racialization is complicated for a few reasons. First, there is a false notion that it is possible and desirable to treat everyone the same, without regard for their race. This is a false notion because many scientific studies have shown that, in the United States at least, we all see race immediately and persistently… In other words, though race is a social construction, it is a living and active part of our daily experiences.” 
She continued on the same subject:
“Next, as a social construction, race is actively used to grant some people (those who are seen as white) rights and privileges while marginalizing or excluding others (those who are identified as “of Color”) from those same rights and privileges (Smedley &amp; Smedley, 2005). In fact, race has fairly profound material, functional, structural, social, political, and economic consequences. Put simply, race matters!”
“Desirablizing whiteness” – a concept claiming that members of non-white races desire to be white because of the alleged privilege accompanying it – is given the following description:

Joy Reid–host of The Reid Out on MSNBC– is a Hearst Visiting Professor at Howard University in Washington DC. Reid is known to launch into partisan diatribes during broadcasts and regularly uses her platform to berate conservatives.
During the riots in the summer of 2020 following the death of George Floyd, Reid has claimed there is “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzPloMpG2EM&amp;ab_channel=MSNBC">zero evidence</a>” that any of the destruction was connected to the movement. She has claimed that when there was any violence, it was inflicted by “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzPloMpG2EM&amp;ab_channel=MSNBC">white supremacists</a>” and Trump supporters.
It is reported that there was a <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/">significant presence</a> by BLM activists at over 95% of the riots during the summer of 2020, resulting in at least 47 deaths and over <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion.">2 billion</a> in damages.
Reid has <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/msnbc-joy-reid-labels-justice-150310965.html">referred to Justice Clarence Thomas as “Uncle Clarence,”</a> a reference to the racial epithet “Uncle Tom” when discussing his court rulings.
Following the <a href="https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/james-hodgkinson-shooting-republicans-baseball-game">2017 congressional baseball shooting</a>, Reid and her guest <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGQEdDySUVI&amp;ab_channel=MSNBC">mocked the victims for holding insufficiently liberal positions</a>. She accused Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise of racism while he was fighting for his life after the attack.
In 2018, blog posts were unearthed from Reid’s old website that contained inflammatory language, bigoted statements, and<a href="https://nypost.com/2018/05/31/joy-reid-reportedly-once-touted-notorious-9-11-conspiracy-film/"> links to conspiracies that accused the United States government of plotting the 9/11 terror attacks</a>. <a href="https://nypost.com/2018/04/24/msnbc-stars-lame-excuse-after-homophobic-remarks-surface/?_ga=2.40761378.1834013034.1527547273-216432594.1517259352">Reid alleged that many members of Congress were secretly gay</a>, and <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/msnbc-host-joy-reid-criticized-jews-ariel-sharon-in-old-blog-posts/">openly mocked Jews</a>.
Once the blog was unearthed and began receiving media attention, Reid initially acknowledged that she had written the posts and apologized for her “bigoted remarks.” However, once additional posts surfaced, Reid reversed her position and claimed that she had never written the blog posts to begin with. Reid claimed on national television that <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/am-joy/watch/watch-msnbc-s-joy-reid-address-offensive-blog-posts-1221485635964">she “genuinely does not believe that“ she wrote the posts</a> and alleged that her blog was hacked. After her statement, cyber-security experts confirmed that there <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/04/the-evidence-is-not-with-joy-reid/558935/">was little evidence of Reid’s blog ever being breached</a>.
Reid<a href="https://newsroom.howard.edu/newsroom/article/13601/award-winning-msnbc-news-anchor-joy-reid-joins-howard-university-2021-hearst"> currently teaches a journalism class titled “Covering Race, Gender, and Politics in the Digital Age”</a>. Reid plans to teach journalism students how to navigate “partisanship and political division.”

Joy Reid–host of The Reid Out on MSNBC– is a Hearst Visiting Professor at Howard University in Washington DC. Reid is known to launch into partisan diatribes during broadcasts and regularly uses her platform to berate conservatives.

During the riots in the summer of 2020 following the death of George Floyd, Reid has claimed there is “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzPloMpG2EM&amp;ab_channel=MSNBC">zero evidence</a>” that any of the destruction was connected to the movement. She has claimed that when there was any violence, it was inflicted by “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzPloMpG2EM&amp;ab_channel=MSNBC">white supremacists</a>” and Trump supporters.

It is reported that there was a <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/">significant presence</a> by BLM activists at over 95% of the riots during the summer of 2020, resulting in at least 47 deaths and over <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion.">2 billion</a> in damages.

Reid has <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/msnbc-joy-reid-labels-justice-150310965.html">referred to Justice Clarence Thomas as “Uncle Clarence,”</a> a reference to the racial epithet “Uncle Tom” when discussing his court rulings.

Following the <a href="https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/james-hodgkinson-shooting-republicans-baseball-game">2017 congressional baseball shooting</a>, Reid and her guest <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGQEdDySUVI&amp;ab_channel=MSNBC">mocked the victims for holding insufficiently liberal positions</a>. She accused Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise of racism while he was fighting for his life after the attack.

In 2018, blog posts were unearthed from Reid’s old website that contained inflammatory language, bigoted statements, and<a href="https://nypost.com/2018/05/31/joy-reid-reportedly-once-touted-notorious-9-11-conspiracy-film/"> links to conspiracies that accused the United States government of plotting the 9/11 terror attacks</a>. <a href="https://nypost.com/2018/04/24/msnbc-stars-lame-excuse-after-homophobic-remarks-surface/?_ga=2.40761378.1834013034.1527547273-216432594.1517259352">Reid alleged that many members of Congress were secretly gay</a>, and <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/msnbc-host-joy-reid-criticized-jews-ariel-sharon-in-old-blog-posts/">openly mocked Jews</a>.

Once the blog was unearthed and began receiving media attention, Reid initially acknowledged that she had written the posts and apologized for her “bigoted remarks.” However, once additional posts surfaced, Reid reversed her position and claimed that she had never written the blog posts to begin with. Reid claimed on national television that <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/am-joy/watch/watch-msnbc-s-joy-reid-address-offensive-blog-posts-1221485635964">she “genuinely does not believe that“ she wrote the posts</a> and alleged that her blog was hacked. After her statement, cyber-security experts confirmed that there <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/04/the-evidence-is-not-with-joy-reid/558935/">was little evidence of Reid’s blog ever being breached</a>.

Reid<a href="https://newsroom.howard.edu/newsroom/article/13601/award-winning-msnbc-news-anchor-joy-reid-joins-howard-university-2021-hearst"> currently teaches a journalism class titled “Covering Race, Gender, and Politics in the Digital Age”</a>. Reid plans to teach journalism students how to navigate “partisanship and political division.”

Nikole Hannah-Jones is the inaugural Knight Chair of Race and Reporting at Howard University in Washington D.C.

Hannah-Jones is best known as one of the primary authors of The 1619 Project. <a href="https://archive.org/details/1619project/full_issue_of_the_1619_project">Published in July of 2019 by The New York Times Magazine</a>, The 1619 Project is a series of reports and essays that purport to document the origins of and lingering effects of racism in America. The stated intent for the project is to establish 1619–the first year that slaves were brought to the British Colonies in America–as the true founding of the United States, rather than 1776. The project’s central thesis alleges that slavery and racism are the basis out of which the United States was created.<a href="https://pulitzercenter.org/blog/nikole-hannah-jones-wins-pulitzer-prize-1619-project"> Hannah-Jones was awarded The Pulitzer Prize</a> for her work on the project. Since its publication, The 1619 Project and its authors have faced a myriad of problems, including accusations of controversial hiring tactics, false claims, and shoddy research.

Hannah-Jones elicited controversy for the publication and retraction of false information in her articles and unearthed racially incendiary remarks.

- Shortly after the publication of the report, Hannah-Jones admitted that <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/18/reader-center/1619-project-slavery-jamestown.html">hiring almost exclusively black staff was a “non-negotiable”</a> aspect when beginning to work on the 1619 issue of The New York Times Magazine.

- One of Hannah-Jones’ central claims—“that one of the primary reasons the colonists decided to declare their independence from Britain was because they wanted to protect the institution of slavery”—<a href="https://nypost.com/2020/03/14/new-york-times-corrects-the-1619-project-but-its-still-a-giant-lie/">was retracted by the paper in early 2020</a>.

- In January 2020, <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/01/inclusive-case-1776-not-1619/604435/">numerous historians, scholars, and commentators—both conservatives and socialists</a>— as cited by The Atlantic criticized The New York Times and The 1619 Project for publishing false information about American history and slavery.

- In October 2020, <a href="https://www.nas.org/blogs/article/pulitzer-board-must-revoke-nikole-hannah-jones-prize">accomplished professors and intellectuals penned an open letter</a> calling on “the Pulitzer Prize Board to rescind the 2020 Prize for Commentary awarded to Nikole Hannah-Jones for her lead essay in The 1619 Project” because “... the article itself was false when written, making a large claim that protecting the institution of slavery was a primary motive for the American Revolution, a claim for which there is simply no evidence.”

Bret Stephens, a columnist for The New York Times and colleague of Hannah-Jones,<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20201105003122/https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/09/opinion/nyt-1619-project-criticisms.html"> rebuffed the 1619 Project,</a> writing in October 2020 that “Journalists are, most often, in the business of writing the first rough draft of history, not trying to have the last word on it. We are best when we try to tell truths with a lowercase t, following evidence in directions unseen, not the capital-T truth of a pre-established narrative in which inconvenient facts get discarded.”

By late 2020, both Hannah-Jones’ claims and The 1619 Project as a whole began receiving scrutiny–<a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/01/inclusive-case-1776-not-1619/604435/">from both the Left and Right</a>–on a near-daily occurrence. Hannah-Jones then falsely <a href="https://reason.com/2020/09/23/1619-project-nikole-hannah-jones-1776-founding-race-new-york-times/">stated that The 1619 Project never claimed that 1619 was America’s true founding</a>, despite the fact that the allegation was printed on the front pages of the issue and was repeated numerous times in televised and print interviews.

Hannah-Jones attracted further scrutiny over a racially explicit op-ed that she had written as a student at Notre Dame University in 1996. <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/06/25/in-racist-screed-nyts-1619-project-founder-calls-white-race-barbaric-devils-bloodsuckers-no-different-than-hitler/">As reported by The Federalist</a>, Mrs. Hannah-Jones described white people as “bloodsuckers” and accused the white race of being the “biggest murderer, rapist, pillager, and thief, of the modern world.” She alleges in the same article that Africans arrived in the Americas “long before Columbus or any Europeans,” and that Christopher Columbus was “no different than Hitler.”

Hannah-Jones was originally <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=17529">offered the position of Knight Chair in Race and Investigative Journalism and Professor of the Practice</a> at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Activists and later Hannah-Jones accused the university of racism for withholding tenure. When the University finally bowed to the pressure and <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/07/06/nikole-hannah-jones-denies-tenure-at-unc-accepts-howard-role/">offered to meet her demands, Jones refused and accepted a similar position at Howard University.</a>

<a href="https://thedig.howard.edu/all-stories/two-iconic-american-writers-join-howard-create-center-help-educate-next-generation-black-journalists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ta-Nehisi Coates</a> is an incoming professor in the College of Arts and Sciences at Howard University. He currently serves as a <a href="https://journalism.nyu.edu/about-us/news-post/2017/01/30/author-ta-nehisi-coates-join-faculty-nyus-carter-journalism-institute/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">faculty member</a> in the NYU Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University. 

Coates spent much of his professional career writing for The Atlantic as a national correspondent. In 2014, he penned the 16,000-word essay, “<a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2014/06/the-case-for-reparations/361631/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Case for Reparations</a>.” The polemic brands America as a “slave society” that was founded on white supremacy:

No American is spared from this indictment, Coates argues, as the legacy of racism extends to each white citizen: 
“The crime indicts the American people themselves, at every level, and in nearly every configuration. A crime that implicates the entire American people deserves its hearing in the legislative body that represents them.” 
Coates has further <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-atlantic-writer-says-trump-presidency-paul-bois" target="_blank" rel="noopener">disparaged whites</a>, calling their votes an “indispensable” effort in promoting white supremacy each election cycle: 

“When you ask yourself why majorities of white people across socioeconomic demographics, across gender lines, across education lines, would endorse someone who only had whiteness to offer and all you come to is tribalism. That’s all that’s left.”

Coates is most <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/ta-nehisi-coates-who-called-9-11-responders-menaces-of-nature-to-speak-at-west-point" target="_blank" rel="noopener">infamously</a> known for his 2001 book, <a href="https://ta-nehisicoates.com/books/between-the-world-and-me/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Between the World and Me</a>, where he describes 9/11 first responders as sub-human and “menaces of nature:” 

“They were not human to me…Black, white, or whatever, they were menaces of nature; they were the fire, the comet, the storm, which could – with no justification – shatter my body.”

While producing a series of Captain America comics, Coates allegedly depicted popular academic <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2021/apr/6/jordan-b-peterson-stunned-by-red-skull-hit-job-in-/">Jordan Peterson as the demagogic, fascist Red Skull</a>. 

Widely acclaimed on the left for his work, Coates was awarded a <a href="https://www.macfound.org/fellows/class-of-2015/ta-nehisi-coates#searchresults" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MacArthur Genius Grant</a> in 2015. The “no-strings-attached” program gifted <a href="https://www.macfound.org/programs/fellows/strategy">$800,000</a> to Coates for “Interpreting complex and challenging issues around race and racism through the lens of personal experience and nuanced historical analysis.

According to her biography, Liu’s areas of expertise include “criminological theory, procedural justice, prosecution and sentencing, juvenile justice, and quantitative methodologies.” 
As a co-author of the study, “<a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/608088231/Internalized-racism-to-blame-for-black-prosecutors-treatment-of-black-criminals-study#download" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Is Internalized Racism One More Piece of the Puzzle in Racial Disparities in Prosecution?</a>”, Liu research argues that black prosecutors recommend harsher sentences towards black and Asian defendants because of their own internalized racism. The study interviewed a small sample size.
To reach their conclusion, Liu’s utilizes Internalized Racism Theory (IRT)—an offshoot of critical race studies—<a href="https://scholarworks.sjsu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1000&amp;context=elementary_ed_pub">which scholars define as</a> “the conscious and unconscious acceptance of a racial hierarchy where whites are consistently ranked above People of Color.”

<a href="https://ccj.fiu.edu/people/faculty/besiki-luka-kutateladze/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Besiki Luka Kutateladze</a> is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. He is the founder and manager of <a href="https://prosecutorialperformanceindicators.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Prosecutorial Performance Indicators</a>, a group advocating prosecutorial reform and the reduction of ethnic disparities in the criminal justice system.

According to Kutateladze’s biography, his areas of expertise include “prosecution, racial justice, and equality and rule of law.” His CV further claims that he’s raised over <a href="https://ccj.fiu.edu/people/faculty/besiki-luka-kutateladze/b-l-kutateladze-cv-20221.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">21 million dollars of research funds</a> from organizations like the <a href="https://www.macfound.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MacArthur Foundation</a>, <a href="https://www.rockefellerfoundation.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Rockefeller Foundation</a>, and the <a href="https://charleskochfoundation.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charles Koch Foundation</a>.

<a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/facultyguide/person.html?emplid=6c9f9a9f50eb4c90a05d153652a15549d6bc2f60" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Varun Chaudhry</a> is an Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and an Affiliate Faculty member in African and African American Studies at Brandeis University. Chaudhry’s profile says she is “a cultural anthropologist whose work focuses on gender, race, sexuality, and class in the United States.” 
Chaudhry identifies with the trans community and prefers the pronouns “they/he.” She is listed as a <a href="https://www.appliedtransstudies.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senior and Distinguished Fellow of CATS</a> (The Center for Applied Transgender Studies). The organization&#8217;s About page says, “We are an independent nonprofit research organization run by transgender people for transgender people.” 
In August 2021, Chaudhry was featured in a <a href="https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2021/aug/11/remove-male-and-female-from-birth-certificates-her/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Spokesman-Review article</a> titled “Remove ‘male’ and ‘female’ from birth certificates? Here’s why [the] nation’s largest group of physicians recommends it.” The column discusses the American Medical Association’s [AMA] efforts to remove binary gender designation from identification documents. 
Citing a June report, Spokesman-Review said, “The AMA’s LGBTQ+ advisory committee advised the organization to push for removing sex labels from the public part of the birth certificate…But some [LGBTQ+ advocates] cautioned against celebrating the news too soon.”
Chaudhry stated, “People are still really committed to a binary sex model…The recommendation may say sex is not important for something like a birth certificate, but if people are still committed to a binary sex model, they find other ways to determine those things.”
Later that year, Chaudhry participated in <a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/arts-sciences/core/critical-conversations/2021-22/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Brandeis Core</a> — a panel discussion for “community” and “critical conversations.” The discussion titled “<a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/arts-sciences/core/critical-conversations/2021-22/videos.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The ‘Ins’ and ‘Outs’ of LGBTQ+ Community</a>” focused on “the limits and possibilities for [the] queer and transgender community on a global scale, particularly how gender, race, class and nation complicate what community can and does mean.”

The description says the course “explores the exuberant and sometimes strained relationship between black people and joy.” His course EN 175B — Getting Behind in Black Gay Men’s Literatures is a study of “black queer men’s sexualities…[including] varying attitudes black queer writers have toward cruising and intimacy [and] falling behind at work or in life, because of certain sexual pursuits.”
In 2022, Callender <a href="https://read.dukeupress.edu/qui-parle/article/31/1/67/314953/The-Devil-Finds-UseBlack-Queers-Do-The-Exorcist?guestAccessKey=cad74655-0591-48e0-b1a5-8566a7481c26" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published an article</a> titled “The Devil Finds Use: Black Queers Do The Exorcist.” The piece explores a critique of The Exorcist (1973 film) in James Baldwin&#8217;s essay “The Devil Finds Work.” In the abstract, Callender says,
“Much of black horror studies today is premised on the assumption that true horror, for the black audience, is found not in the paranormal but in the normal and the systemic. It is now conventional, for instance, for scholars to preface their research with a personal anecdote that swaps out a supernatural on-screen threat for a more pressing — and more horrifying — social one.”
He continued,
“By swapping out superficial horrors for social ones, black subjects today enter into the horror genre as its rivals, if not its foils. Instead of reeling from horror’s intended ‘dreadful pleasures,’ they experience a horror that arises more traumatically, more personally, and more incidentally as a result of their racial consciousness.”
The Brandeis Department of English <a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/english/faculty/podcast/callender-podcast.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published a two-part podcast</a> with Callender as a special guest. The host asked Callender, “[W]hat were you like as a high schooler?” Callender said,
“My high school experience was largely spent, I think, trying to figure out who I was…There was a lot of racism that was pretty worn on the surface of our school…I have a deep difficulty rethinking what those years meant to me, because the same teacher who deeply inspired and moved me did not teach me anything about my experience as a black person, or as a queer person. That was not part of his agenda, his curriculum.”
